We spent a pleasant week at Dickinson Guest House. It is very well located, with lots of food places nearby and literally minutes away from Guadalajara's downtown. The rooms are quite comfortable and the neighborhood is very quite at night. I would definitely stay again whenever I need to go on a business trip to Guadalajara.

Hi again Doug! I am sorry that you will not be able to make it this Christmas 2014. I hope you are feeling better soon. You have been here often enough to really feel at home and you know it! I look forward to a visit sometime in 2015. Have a great New Year, even with the things going on...

Just returned from a 4th stay at Dickinson Guest. James has a neat, clean and friendly place to stay. James, helpful as always to me to get around the city. Lets a guest do their own thing also, which made my visit great.

Hmmm, this has been a busy year thank to all of the business I have had. As I try to catch up with my responses- I realized I have written the wrong review to the previous response-Doug- so on this review I will thank Alex for his stay! Sorry about the mix-up. Maybe tripadvisor can reverse them??? It was great...

From traveling around the world, I know what a guesthouse is. I was surprised to find out that B&B's are used in America and Europe has more guest houses. Guesthouses are supposed to be a bed only-usually in a big families house. James told me that it was still what he wanted, so it would eventually leverage his ability to...

Thank you for the kind review. The mariachi festival is a very popular event in Guadalajara. And for a group of people, a house is so much more festive than a hotel-especially when it is a festive occasion. I hope that wwe will see you again next year-making it a destination city for just that. You were good house guests...

The Dickinson house was a fantastic alternative to my normal 'hotel' stays. The house was beautiful and comfortable, and James and his staff went above and beyond to make sure I had what I needed to get around town! Also of great convenience was full use of the kitchen. I highly recommend the master suite with the private balcony. Next...

Thank you Chip for the nice review. They are very much appreciated! I hope the weather in Seattle is not a cold as I remember it to be many years ago-but with the current storms pounding on the Pacific Coast, I suspect you may be getting a bit of it-more than usual. You were great guests that seemed to really...

Guadalajara is my second home. I live in Colorado about 3 months out of the year. This summer I invited several friends to visit me and more decided to RSVP than expected. I came across several rentals in this large city, but some of the ones that were very affordable were way out of the way. For the number of...

Jim was extremely helpful throghout the booking, stay and departure process. We stayed in touch via e-mail and everything went according to plan. The house exactly as described, in an up and coming area of Guadalajara, super easy access to everything and very safe. Had a couple minor plumbing issues which were addressed immediately by Jim. Definitely recommended for stays...

Thank you for the review. I trust that your stay here was as good as you reviewed. It is different when I rent out all of the rooms, because the review are usually on FlipKey -making them less familiar with the host.I wish I had the time to meet and talk with all 8-10 of you, but needed to give...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Dickinson Guest House , within walking distance to the Guadalajara Expo Center is a favorite for business travelers that would like to save on the exorbitant luxury hotels in this area, and groups of friends or families that want to have the safety and privacy of a gated home that is still minutes away by private driver, to the Historical sites; yet quiet at night for a great rest before the next days adventure. This large home is located in a nice and well known neighborhood of Chapalita, not to be confused with the very large Lake Chapala area that is nearly an hours' drive away. It does in fact make an excellent day trip, being the largest body of water in the country. The neighborhood is well maintained and calmer area with wide sidewalks, surrounded with several beautiful and well maintained public parks, allowing safe walks day or night- or for dining in around 30 restaurants- for all pocketbooks- most within walking distance. This is a self contained area with good grocery stores and fashion malls for those interested in those pastimes. We also have a shortcut to the very enjoyable towns of Tlaquepaque and Tonala, home of many artisan shops that are nearby. Our business services for the traveler that needs fast internet service will be surprised to experience speeds that are faster than any hotel in the city, at 100 mbps and a new AC router to keep up with the demands of the modern traveler- for fast internet throughout the property with no lag time, even with video streaming, teleconferencing, or gaming on multiple 2.4 and 5 gig channels at the same time. We also offer 2 well secured wireless printers to use while here, for specific directions to a meeting place- or just to print out your boarding pass home if you are travelling light, to save so much time at the airport. We want our guests to feel at home from their arrival. You will be greeted, given a tour and handed keys to the gates, front entryway and separate private room keys, so your guests can come and go at will. The full kitchen will be a place for those who enjoy cooking for a group or for themselves. It is also has plenty of storage space for beverages and snack foods for those who prefer eating out at great restaurants.Private cooks or catering needs are available with advance notice. Maid service is included in the cost of rental. Come and feel the difference of the personal touches and amenities offered, while enjoying your privacy that is very much part of your wanting a private home. There are several spaces in this large property to enjoy your friends or colleagues while visiting this vibrant city. Now that the business meetings and conventions are closeby, this would be the perfect alternative to up to 6 or 7 single guests or 4-5 couples on a stop-over visit to the Monarch retreat in Michoacan and other worthwhile cities to visit while in this friendly country. If you are travelling as a group, why pay the high prices of separate hotel rooms when you can have a private room in a house and still be with colleagues or family? If you are looking for a week-end in the city-coming from Vallarta or Nayarit, it is a perfect location. We offer our Uber account to shuttle you around the city with drivers who know where they are going and do not overcharge. Their rates are actually half that of an already low taxi ride. Wherever you stay- welcome to the historical city of Guadalajara, and its many surrounding towns and villages. Hotel room-- private home for much less-you decide. Let us know how we can make your vacation or business trip exactly what you need or want while visiting Guadalajara, so we can have it set up and leave you alone. We are always just a phone call away from our free in-house phone service. ... more   less
