I am presently staying in the charming Dickinson Guest House with the best possible hosts in the leafy, safe colonia of Chapilita. I am being thoroughly spoiled by the owner James who knows the exact balance of chatting & assisting guests with discreetly making himself invisible. My visit to Guadalajara is to be with family so my needs are a...

Better late than never, as they say! And since you are coming back this Monday-- ahem, shame on me. I get just as busy as our guests sometimes and we forget to give thanks when it is due. And you must know that reviews are important in this business. And I am trying to catch up. I do appreciate almost...

My third time here this year was no less tan the previous visit! I was asked to leave my comments this time and it really should have been done earlier! The owners james and Leo are very warm amd inviting people that give you a sense of being at home even though I am now just over the mountain. I...

We very much enjoyed our stay at Dickinson Guest House! Our room could not have been lovelier, complete with an outdoor terrace overlooking the peaceful street. The B&B sits in a graceful residential neighborhood, a short ride from the historic center of Guadalajara. But the immediate neighborhood itself is worth exploring as well, as we enjoyed strolling its peaceful streets...

It was fun hosting you in Guadalajara after your week long vacation in Mexico City, Bob and Juan. It was a good time to wind down a bit before heading back to the states. I am glad you liked the general feel of privacy and no timelines for anything, really. You both are great guests and hope to see you...

We spent a pleasant week at Dickinson Guest House. It is very well located, with lots of food places nearby and literally minutes away from Guadalajara's downtown. The rooms are quite comfortable and the neighborhood is very quite at night. I would definitely stay again whenever I need to go on a business trip to Guadalajara.

Hi again Doug! I am sorry that you will not be able to make it this Christmas 2014. I hope you are feeling better soon. You have been here often enough to really feel at home and you know it! I look forward to a visit sometime in 2015. Have a great New Year, even with the things going on...

Just returned from a 4th stay at Dickinson Guest. James has a neat, clean and friendly place to stay. James, helpful as always to me to get around the city. Lets a guest do their own thing also, which made my visit great.

Hmmm, this has been a busy year thank to all of the business I have had. As I try to catch up with my responses- I realized I have written the wrong review to the previous response-Doug- so on this review I will thank Alex for his stay! Sorry about the mix-up. Maybe tripadvisor can reverse them??? It was great...

From traveling around the world, I know what a guesthouse is. I was surprised to find out that B&B's are used in America and Europe has more guest houses. Guesthouses are supposed to be a bed only-usually in a big families house. James told me that it was still what he wanted, so it would eventually leverage his ability to...

Thank you for the kind review. The mariachi festival is a very popular event in Guadalajara. And for a group of people, a house is so much more festive than a hotel-especially when it is a festive occasion. I hope that wwe will see you again next year-making it a destination city for just that. You were good house guests...

The Dickinson house was a fantastic alternative to my normal 'hotel' stays. The house was beautiful and comfortable, and James and his staff went above and beyond to make sure I had what I needed to get around town! Also of great convenience was full use of the kitchen. I highly recommend the master suite with the private balcony. Next...

Thank you Chip for the nice review. They are very much appreciated! I hope the weather in Seattle is not a cold as I remember it to be many years ago-but with the current storms pounding on the Pacific Coast, I suspect you may be getting a bit of it-more than usual. You were great guests that seemed to really...

Guadalajara is my second home. I live in Colorado about 3 months out of the year. This summer I invited several friends to visit me and more decided to RSVP than expected. I came across several rentals in this large city, but some of the ones that were very affordable were way out of the way. For the number of...

Jim was extremely helpful throghout the booking, stay and departure process. We stayed in touch via e-mail and everything went according to plan. Thank you for the review. I trust that your stay here was as good as you reviewed. It is different when I rent out all of the rooms, because the review are usually on FlipKey -making them less familiar with the host.I wish I had the time to meet and talk with all 8-10 of you, but needed to give...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Dickinson Guest House , within walking distance to the Guadalajara Expo Center is a cost effective hotel-alternative to the many new luxury hotels that abound in this well maintained area of the city. We are available as a whole house rental, which is popular for those coming from the North during the winter months-or we rent rooms out to corporate or business travelers that need to be close to the Exposition center and this business hub of the city. This large home in the Chapalita neighborhood of the city is well know by locals. It is not to be confused with Lake Chapala, another destination of about an hours' drive away. We also have a shortcut to the very enjoyable towns of Tlaquepaque and Tonala, home of many artisan shops that are just beyond the historical district, a short ride away. Our business services for the traveler that needs fast internet service will be surprised to experience speeds that are actually superior to even the finest hotels in this pricey area of Guadalajara. The fully equipped kitchen will be a place for those who enjoy cooking for a group or for themselves. It is also has plenty of storage space for beverages and snack foods for those who prefer eating out at the many great restaurants that surround us. Come and feel the difference of the personal touches and amenities offered, while enjoying your privacy that is very much part of your wanting a private home. There are several spaces in this large property to enjoy with your friends or colleagues while still enjoying your private bedroom. Now that the business meetings and conventions are closeby, this home has become a popular alternative for 6-8 single guests or 4-5 couples on a stop-over visit to other Western cities in Mexico. If you are travelling as a group, why pay the high prices of separate hotel rooms when you can have a private room in a house and still be with colleagues or family? If you are looking for a week-end in the city-coming from Puerto Vallarta, bring some friends and take advantage of all the space to enjoy while at home! An excellent choice to stay in Mexico's 2nd city, for 10 years now-and counting! ... more   less
