The Dickinson Guest House is a smaller Boutique hotel near Expo-Guadalajara in Jalisco, Mexico, that many appreciate it's affordability in an otherwise pricey area of the city. In business since 2006, it has a long-standing reputation for comfort and convenience in all parts of this large metro area. If your needs are to be near this critical business district, without the desire for throngs of travelers in this new Hotel Zone, we are just blocks away from some of the city's most important events. The ever-emerging restaurant scene surrounds us with no less than 50 restaurants for almost all pocketbooks- that are within walking distance or a short Uber ride away. Guest room choices range from the popular standard single or double room, King room, King Suite with furnished and private balcony, and a quad-suite with a patio and garden for perhaps longer-staying guests traveling together for the same event. While we offer the comforts of home, we have in many ways surpassed local internet speeds and the use of printers without the extra charges often charged in nearby hotels. We now offer keyless entry codes allowing you entry at any time for simplicity and speed and guaranteeing often desired privacy. This has been very popular for business groups of 5-8 people arriving at different times, hours apart. We, of course, can accommodate more but have found business travelers still want their private space. It saves a lot of time with the check-in process that is mostly done in advance. Private codes are sent to guests on the day of arrival. As our convention center is once again busy, we have found that groups want smaller and private spaces still in one of the nicest neighborhoods of the entire city. Besides our loyal business visitors, Chapalita is close to some of the best shopping in Guadalajara and Zapopan. The property serves well for families that need extra space for weddings or reunions that are more often than not closer to the actual family member taking their vows. This is often where groups of 10+ guests can still enjoy plenty of space with family members. All are welcome, whether needing a single room or an entire rental to share with family & friends. Call or email at any time for any questions you may have. Welcome to Guadalajara, Mexico!

Event, we found a lovely home that is within walking distance to the Book Fair for a substantially more affordable price. This 2 story, 5 bedroom house also has extra beds that are not listed on their official website, which saved us even more. The house is large and has hotel amenities that are not charged for, if you want it in your room. No gym. No pool. No problem in December. Comfortable beds, plenty of hot water with good showers and quality linens. We enjoyed the privacy to talk and finish up our books before going to bed for another long day. Fresh coffee is ready when you are, in all rooms, with pod coffe machines. Look for this house if going to a convention in Guadalajara. It looks like it would be a great holiday house for a family as well. Great area with lots of restaurants surrounding this well-maintained neighborhood. We actually had more fun here than at this year´s FIL. It was not as attended as in years past.

That was a very nice review Cory and greatly appreciated. We are a small property compared to all of the hotels that have risen up in the last few years, but we still get some great guests like you. I have always thought it was odd that so many hotels show pictures of their outdoor pools when it is too cold outside for anyone to really enjoy them. But it does work! And I wish I had one for the warm months that we are blessed with even as the planet changes. The Keurig Coffee machines were Leo's idea. I was not really keen on it at first, but people like their coffee and not just in the morning, so he was right! Early risers and those getting ready for the next days at the Expo are the ones who appreciate them the most. Glad to have them. And even more happy to have guests that like this style of travel and the privacy of a smart home. We hope to see you again when passing through or attending a conference.

I came here a few years ago with business colleagues while attending a convention at the closeby exposition center. This time was with family. It was better than the last time! Lot´s of updates have been made now that fiber optics finally made it. Seems second nature to we Americans. But Leo and James have the entire house wired for any device you may have with no lag. We spent a lot of time outside of the property, but if we wanted to watch a movie the house is ready in all bedrooms. The best are comfortable and lots of pillows made my wife very happy! These guys have really done a nice job of setting up this large home and have added another bathroom for large groups. I did not see that in the listing this time. But it is in there! Great time hand by all. Hope to make it back in a couple of years to stay for a few days and head over to another place reccommended by James in Morelia. We are going to see the Monarch Butterfly winter retreat that we have read up on. We want to make the climb before humans kill them off. Their pattern of travelling to the mountains in Morelia is not exactly through Guadalajara, but these guys have 6 varieties of Milkweed planted outside, and the Monarchs sure found it. Highly reccommend a stay at this big house in a great area of the city that just keeps on growing. Thanks again for everything. Steve, Melinda and family.

Expecting much less for the price, I found this hideout to be in the middle of everything that we wanted to do, or very closeby. A secure and spacious property with friendly neighbors, parks that the locals strolled in even after 9PM and lots of pets that were not treated as guard dogs. I would love to come back with the relatives and friends that acted like \i was traveling to Syria! A wonderful host ans his partners made us feel so at home. Thank you so much for the English breakfast you served us. Delicious.

This property was booked for two traveling companions on a business-fun trip. After the first night we realized that we should have saved this place for a big vacation. We ended up with a few fellow colleagues to move in with us. They were paying almost as much for a hotel room nearby. I figured for the price I paid that I might be in something like a bungalow. We were all very pleased with it's layout and modern conveniences that we are accustomed to. Lots of space, good beds and quiet nights with security and things that are common in the U.S. I hope that is not insulting to our hosts who were great. I guess the 'fake news' that is being spewed by Donald Trump is not true at all, especially here. Wonderful place for a medium to large groups with the comforts of home!

Thanks for the kind review and observations. We like this area of the city, as many people do as well, it seems. Most first-time tourists stay downtown, which makes sense as they are unfamiliar with the city. But although very safe compared to many cities in the U.S., the center is also where the pickpockets want to be, while newbies are gawking at the beautiful architecture. We are about 15 minutes away from the historical area. We have many, many restaurants of all kinds, shopping, and parks that are night and day friendly. It is a good thing to try if you come back for two or more times. It is a different world, and so close to us.

There are actually several apartments, home and elegant villas for rent in Guadalajara these days. But once again we chose the Dickinson Guest House for our trip. It truly is like going to a second home. Well taken care of and kitchen that is well equipped and refrigerator full of the items that we order in advance. The owners are very accommodating. The time spent visiting the sites was fun, yet coming back to a peaceful neighborhood was really what makes this home enjoyable. We recommend it to families or even working groups willing to share the six bedrooms to save some money in this pricey side of the city.

Getting a room for a large Expo event can be expensive. This large home is quiet, with good beds, great Internet with fiber optics for computing or watching News or a movie in English. Breakfast ordered was delicious and the ride to my meetings made for a great stay. Will stay again.

It's hard to be away from home during the Holidays. TotalPlay is our provider for internet and TV station in many languages, so the English channels are just a few options. It has proven to be a nice change from Megacable. Even the wired set-top boxes work as extenders for the Wi-Fi, so in this big home, even a large group can be on the internet anywhere in the home or outside and get great reception. It was the right decision to change to fiber optics. We look forward to another visit from you and yours!

With so much badmouthing from our president about Mexico, it was a wonderful and warm experience for those of us who live in the freezing regions of the world. James, Leo and Maricruz made us feel at home and even took us on a tour to some smaller towns outside of the city. Their home is in a very nice area of the city and we felt safe and slept without the noise of so many larger cities that we have visited. We all highly recommend this warm environment in a wonderful big house! We were only 7 people, but the beds could hold large groups comfortably.

Our president does badmouth this country often, which is very disheartening. And these last couple of years have been hard for the Mexican economy, and still an exceptionally, very good value especially for Americans, as the exchange rate is so much better. So we thank you for coming down, spending American dollars that help the people that work for us and their families that did nothing to deserve all the blather of this dictator that does not listen to any of his advisors, let alone keep a cabinet. I look forward to 2020. I am ashamed that the electoral college put this moron in the White House. We hope you come back again, with a larger group. You know we have the room. Thank you so much for taking the time to write a review. People are busy, and we get that. So every review is helpful to see; even if they are not so lovely! It shows that not everyone is as happy as many of us. It is the nature of humans, no? All reviews cannot be all good. It just cannot be possible only to get happy people. We are lucky that we got to have you. Thank you so much.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review. As our clientele is from all over the world, many are just too busy to jot down even a poor experience. Well, that's not completely true! I do have a couple that did not even stay here write some interesting things that are questionable. You were a great and fun guest that enjoys life and experiences different to what they are used too. We love the independent guests who enjoy their privacy, knowing that we can be reached at any time day or night. We hope you will come back to visit us another year while passing through this popular hub of Guadalajara!

Hotels are the choice of business travelers. That is what I always thought. This guesthouse was a quiet and very convenient exception to this overthought rule. With fast internet services and printers at no extra charge, this was truly the overused "home away from home" atmosphere for the 6 of us attending the expo center that is very nearby. The comfortable beds, location, spaciousness, and prvacy are just a few needs that most people are looking for. Great experiences for the longtime hotel shopper, at great rates. Highly recommend!

That is what we strive for, and I am sorry for this late response! Trip Advisor had to remind me that I was not keeping up. We are glad that you found us in the LUX hotel mecca (and growing!) When I opened 12 years ago I was told that Downtown was the only place for this kind of business. I told them that even though they were most likely correct in their assumption, I did not want to live in downtown myself! So here we are. Yes, the 8 new hotels over the years have certainly made their presence known, but for groups like yours or even families that come for wedding or Holidays, it is so much more private-and affordable. We hope to see you in the future, Jared. Very kind of you to leave your comments.

Thanks, Noah for the review. We do often forget to ask for them and then realize that we are just as guilty of not thanking those who did in fact write one! We know you came for a convention and we did not see you often. But it is good to know that that is one of the things people like about this kind of home environment. Thank you again!
