This was my second visit to Guadalajara and to La Perla in the span of only four months. In fact, my return to La Perla this time was solely based on the friendships that I had forged during my first visit. I wasn't returning to do anything touristy, but was returning to spend time with friends who I now consider family. My days were spent conversing with Lars and discovering different neighborhoods of the city with Memo. Despite not being a typical tourist this time, this trip made me appreciate Guadalajara even more. So if you are looking for a unique experience while you are are in Guadalajara, choose La Perla. You'll be happy you did. The only decision left for me to make is when to return? Very soon I hope!

The house is amazing. The only thing better is the service. Lars, Memo and Javier were so friendly. This was my first trip to Mexico. I feel like I was in a home, not a hotel. I made friends with them and the other guests. We would have long breakfasts to share stories and plan our days. I was going things daily with the hosts and other guests. The evening happy hours with wine was a great way to share our daily experiences. The hosts also introduced us to ex-pats with so much information. My friend is planning on moving there soon. This was a huge help. They went above and beyond. I feel I have made life long friends.

We are thrilled you chose to stay with us for your first visit to Mexico and already planning your return. I do think it is unique to our hotel that guests become friends with us and the other guests every time. I guess we just appeal to adventurous people, who want to discover things unique in our neighborhood and other neighborhoods near. Everyone says each one is like another little village in walking distance. Wine in the hotel bar after, always make the best evening of conversation and laughter with friends. We look forward to your return and more fun times with all of us, guests and our local friends.

There is always MAGIC when you are WITH FRIENDS. We are glad you also enjoyed our location, midway between the Centro Historico with the cathedral a few blocks to the east and Chapultepec Avenue, the Zona Rosa of bars and nightclubs, equal distant to the west. Guests love having everything in walking distance.

Our visit to Guadalajara was made richer by the unique welcome we received at La Perla. First, as a hotel, La Perla is absolutely clean and superbly comfortable. The wifi is great. Where La Perla simply goes beyond any preconceived expectation is in the level of true generousity and welcome offered by Lorenzo and Guillermo. After sharing laughs over wine in the evening, and benefitting from their insights and local knowledge over breakfast as we planned our days in Guadalajara, we left their beautiful home eager to return again soon!

We love assisting adventurous guests like the you and your husband, who want to discover new cultural experiences, some in our neighborhood and in other neighborhoods of Guadalajara. Each one is truly another individual community. With our simple walking maps, I think of they become treasure hunts for each guest. Returning and reviewing with everyone the experiences over a glass of wine, develops lasting friendships. Having guests feel they are genuinely with friends, gives us each joy that we are doing it right, while enjoying it also. Thank you for the wonderful heartfelt review.

I had the pleasure of staying for 2 nights at La Perla, in August it was truly delighful. On arrival I was informed that I had been upgraded which was a pleasant surprise, the rooms are lovely. I don't have much more to add then the other very favourable reviews. The genuine warmth and wonderful hospitality of Laz, Memo and Javier, can't be spoken of enough, sitting and chatting with them was a highlight. They are so knowledgeable and happy to share what they think will work for you. I loved being able to hear the history of the house and area. Conversations about life in general were just wonderful and heart warming. As has been mentioned English is spoken widely. However, Memo and Javier were incredible generous in allowing me to use the Spanish I have with them. On the day I left Javier made me a Cuban coffee which was a touching gesture for me. I am really hoping to return one day, and enjoy sharing more wonderful conversations with Laz and the others, whilst exploring more of the area.

Karen, Since you were traveling alone to a foreign country, we are glad you knew instantly you were with friends. Adventurous guests like you offer us delightful conversation because of your own experiences traveling around Mexico and the world. Since you were here for only two nights, it is with these conversations we were able make suggestions of what would work best for you and make the most of your visit to see Guadalajara. Memo, Javier and I all enjoyed doing extras for you because you so appreciative.... a delightful guest. My favorite time was when we got out the World Atlas to see where you were from and places you have visited. We look forward to your return to explore more areas of Guadalajara.
