The Blue Pepper Hostel was a great time. I met a lot of other very cool travelers. We had an excellent time hanging out in the hostel in their common rooms. The staff was helpful. Especially Katia. She worked the bar the night before, and then 24 hours straight in the Hostel. What a super awesome girl. She made everyone feel at home. Definitely stay here if you're coming to Guadalajara.
My first time ever staying in this place. The room, bathroom, and kitchen was clean which are three important details for me when staying in a hostel. In the living room area there was an empty beer bottle and a dirty empty glass. The staff just passed by multiple times without cleaning. I just call that laziness. That is the only reason why it didn't get five stars from me. He was quiet but pleasant. I think in the front of the hostel it should have a bigger sign with the name of the hostel to find it faster. If it wasn't for google maps I would have hard time finding this place. The area at night is quiet. The people who come to the hostel are respectful one to another. I would stay here again if I come back to Guadalajara.
Great hostel! Great location in a nice area of Guadalajara - easy to get into centre and just really nice place. Fernando the owner knows how to treat people staying at the hostel as well as the other staff and that made it a very enjoyable experience for me and my mates
Well hidden close to many bus routes. The staff was quiet but friendly. The mosquitoes OMG get a repellent. Economic so yes it does need some up keep. Would I stay there on another occasion if need be sure. ( Escondido Serca de rutas. El staff callados y amistosos. Los sancudos crompren repelente. Economico y si nesecita una Manita de gato. Me quedaria de nuevo si fuese necesario si. )
Staff is super friendly, and speak some English. Great deal for the price. Also, there's bar and grill on site. It's nothing special or glamorous. But, the rooms are cheap, and the service is great. The bathrooms and showers are shared. The pillows are kinda flat. If you're picky about pillows I'd bring your own. Other than that, this is a great hostel. Would recommend to anyone.
I had an amazing week in this hostel.. You will feel at home very quick. The ambiance is very relaxt, the people who are working there are amazing, very helpful and friendly. I got to know the staff and particularly Angel a bit more, he is super kind and cool to hang out with! The area has a lot of hip bars and coffeeshops. Will definitely recommend this hostel! 💓
Has great potential but needs more attention. Most of the staff (except Fernando - he was incredible helpful) were not that helpful; they didn't know how to get to the airport except by taxi or where the closest supermarket was. The dorm room was clean enough; it felt like the sheets were only changed randomly. Kitchen available and solid internet. Nice common areas indoor and outdoor. The main bathrooms had several shower stalls but only one toilet in the open so if you had to use the bathroom you blocked anyone from using the showers. Far from historic city center, but walkable if you are up to it. You get what you paid for but there are several other options. It seems more suited for long term student guests who would supposedly be "low-maintenance".
Well actually I have been very disapointed about the hostel, I was struggeling if to go better to Hostel Tequila or that one, but the recommendations and Fotos were quiet good at Blue Pepper Hostal as well. So I think if you don´t want to go to a good hostel it could be ok. I have been around 10 days there because I arrived for an exchange semester so I didn´t wanted to change with the whole heavy luggage to another place. But the location and the terrace with its alternative paintings are really great! My expierences also varied because first of all the owners weren´t there and later on it got better and the fridge was clean, toilet paper there and the staff bought lockers. ***All the Fotos, as nearly every photos of buildings and hostels are prepared by photoshop! be aware of this before considering going where look at the fotos if they look "pimped up" ** 1. We haven´t had toilet paper at our toilet for about 3-4 days, even I said 3 times something to the staff they didn´t put something in there so I had to "steal" from other toilets toilet paper... 2. the conditions of the hostel are pity, there has to be done a lot of stuff: the tiles are everywhere broken, the beds partially as well, the lockers were broken, there is no running hot water in the showers so I had to shower a lot of times in icy cold water, when it´s raining there´s water running out of the loobie´s wall, many lights are broken as well in the bath room so you even can´t see yourself proper in a mirror, the fridge was full and smelling bad so you couldn´t use it at the beginning, couches and chairs were broken/scuffed and worn. 3. you can´t close your stuff because the/many cupboards with devices for lockers are broken! veeery bad! 4. in the Lobby were sleeping twice homeless? people- or at least they were relatives of the employees. They even had any luggage and were no travelers, some (poor) looking Mexicans... 5. It was everything dirty :/ bathroom always dirty, even a cochrache of around 4 cm in the bathroom, the kitchen dirty, the fridge bad smelling and at the beginning it was very full because the restaurant and the employees that are living there use it too. 6. Lockers and Towels couldn´t be rent as advertised on the website and lobby. Even promoted on the website, the employees didn´t know where and how to take a buses or even how to get to a supermarket xD 7.! actually I also know someone of my exchange semester that got the offer of an owner to stay a day for free at the hostel when he does a good recommendation at Tripadvisor!!! maybe because of that it has so many good recommendations... 7. The Hostel has a kind of bar with was nearly never used by travelers. But up till 2-3 a clock it was always very ! loud and the rooms are just over the bar so we couldn´t sleep well, even there were just relatives of the bar/hostel staff and no "real clients". And it was always very loud because of the street noises, and beds vibrated. Also very hot in the room there was just one ventilator for the whole hostel so from one to the other day the ventilator was gone. Also in the rooms are just 2 sockets which is way to less for the whole people to charge their phone...…
I was very happy with the Blue Pepper Hostel. The property was very clean...even the bathrooms/showers and the common area patio. It was also very safe due to its neighborhood and 24-hr reception. The price was good: <300MXN for a single room with a shared bathroom. I can't comment on breakfast or the kitchen as I ate out for all of my meals. The location is ideal! All of the Chapultepec area can be easily explored on foot. To get to the Centro Historico, one only has to walk one or two blocks to the main east-west avenues to catch one of the cross-town buses. All in all, I have nothing but praise for the Blue Pepper Hostel.
We had a great experience staying at the Blue Pepper hostel! The staff is very friendly and super accomodating - our bus arrived hours early and they let us check in no problem! We loved that you could make a reservation online without payment, and you could make adjustments as needed at no charge. We also loved that they offer private rooms for couples! The central location made exploring Guadaraja fun and easy, as we could walk to downtown to many shops, cute cafes, etc. If you are looking to save money and meet other travellers, this place is perfect! Oh - and this is one of the only hostels we have stayed at with reliable, strong wifi! Plus, they offer free breakfast, a shared kitchen, and help getting around!
