We stayed for a week at this hotel. The location is centralized and right next to the Plaza del Sol, a large open air shopping center. First and foremost, the service was outstanding. At all times we felt the staff cared and did what they could to help us enjoy our stay. The breakfast at the Cafe Urbano was outstanding with a wide array of freshly prepared and delicious food. The service at the Cafe Urbano deserves special mention. We tried the French restaurant and enjoyed it; tasty French bistro style food and good wine. The club level service was very good, with two hours of a very fine wine. We were pleased with the upgrade that we received due to IHG diamond status; the room had a living room and a ridiculous bathroom. Not many cons; the pool is underwhelming and there did not seem to be many guests. All and all, we felt the famous IHG hospitality and recommend.

We only came here because we stayed an extra night and the Hard Rock was already sold out. This hotel is beautiful. The staff truly is top notch. This is a very upscale and incredible hotel. It is extremely conservative for me, they don’t offer free waters in the room, there’s only a French restaurant and there’s no live music. We are only staying the night, so I didn’t really tour it. If you want peace and quiet, this is definitely your hotel. If you want live, upbeat and people to meet, I’d suggest Hard Rock.

I've stayed at other Presidente Intercontinental Hotels (namely, Mexico City, Merida) and Guadalajara didn't live up to the standard. I read here it was recently remodeled and I was just about to write it needed a bit of remodeling. Staying here was kind of a trip to the past. A vintagey feel to it. Carpeting. Smelly carpeting. Everywhere it smells. Smells of grime, lived in, stale, and my room even smelled of cigarette. Service was excellent, fortunately. But the smell part is kind of overwhelming. And outside, the street smells of sewer. Also, it IS located across the street from a very large mall. But getting there is a challenge to someone with arthrosis. The boulevard one needs to cross to get there has quite a load of ongoing traffic, high speed traffic. They have a pedestrian crossing bridge from the hotel, but the stairs on the opposite side to the hotel are very tough to climb up/walk down. So, if you see yourself forced to cross this avenue with traffic lights, better be speedy about it. That's out of the hotel's control, however I think it's relevant to the venue. In summary, a good place to stay if you're not smell sensitive.

This hotel is a failure, the worst IC property of the world, old, dirty, and stained carpets. One of the trash cans had the garbage from the previous guest. As an ambassador member the benefits are just the minimum. The restaurant is very expensive, very limited menu, no paper menus. Incomplete water bottles on the room. On Aug 18, I requested the missing bottled water twice. No one went to my room to deliver the bottle. On Aug 20, I asked twice to get the bottles, I got the water after my second request. There was a coffee machine plus the coffees etc., no cups or mugs to serve the coffee. The additional lock in the door was broken. Room size and layout is good, nice desk. Bathroom size is small. Shower area is good, and a powerful and nice shower. Carpet near my room was dirty for few days, dust and small particles and was like that every day. If is a rainy day, the area next to the entrance get flooded and is hard to leave the hotel. Not recommended.

We just completed 7 nights at this hotel. From start to finish the service was excellent. We had an Intercontinental Suite and access to the club. The club provided a great breakfast and cocktails/appetizers in the evening. We availed ourselves the service of the concierge. She gave us a lot of helpful info and set up a couple tours . Overall the experience was 5 star.

Rejuvenated 5 stars experience, after a review.

For his 80th birthday month, I wanted to treat my #hubby @enriquedlz to a five star experience at a French restaurant called Bistro La Bastille.

I was persuaded by a charming manager Leonardo Cadena who listened well, agreed that what we had last night fell below their standards.

He persuaded me to dine once more, in his words, "recover the quality of the experience you wanted."

I told him I am not looking for comps, just great quality to what I am used to at #ViadeGuadalupe. It turns out the Galileo wine is what they serve at this restaurant, which hubby approved of.

I also told him I would be taking such a big risk. He smiled. His demeanor persuaded me as he was sincere. We paid for all the orders and they gave us free dessert. Of course, the bouillabaisse was served and this time, it passed in quality: fish was fresh, tender and shrimp was fresh and sauce was great. I told the manager to train the chef and send him to learn with the chefs in #viadeguadalupe.

Earlier, he had sent a plate of petit fours and a written apology signed by him and on the letterhead of the GM Patricia Chapman.

This is 5 star service.

Tonight we got 5 star quality food experience. I got what I wanted to treat my hubby.

We went to Cafe Urbano for breakfast and told our waiter, Moises, that we were hoping to have a traditional Mexican breakfast. He and the chef turned what would have been a good breakfast into a great and memorable experience !

Vacations are about making memories, and unexpected delights are memorable. Thank you Moises, and thank you Hotel El Presidente Guadlajara !

I’ve stayed here countless times. Was my favorite hotel, but now it seems run down. The decor and furniture is old, linens are sometimes ripped, missing hangers, doesn’t look sharp and clean anymore.
I hope the IHG chain pays attention to this hotel, it really is a shame to see it go.

Good hotel, good service. Careful if you are a frequent traveler with IHG,. I was given a triple upgrade where I had to wait 4 hours to get it since it was not ready but I ended up in a king room on the Club floor but no benefit. Like giving a first class upgrade in tourist class.
Ask for what you deserve otherwise it is just smoke.
The Westin is better in term of upgrade and it is in the same area.
