Villa Del Sol, a local and succesful hotel arising since 1990 from a boutique mentality, has now sold out to a corporate conglomerate called "The Tides". What was then ....now isn't. Buyer beware. VDS built a solid reputaton for its accommodations, service and local offerings that the Tides paid handsomely for. The Tides bought the concept, but doesn't deliver the...

School has started and winter up north hasn't started yet, so--this resort (all of Zihua, I guess) is really quiet. Our room is beautiful (lagoon suite), the staff is attentive and caring, food and drink is excellent, and THE LAGOON IS FIXED (I was unaware of any problem until seeing the reviews above). Best of all--because of the slow market,...

We just returned from our stay at The Tides and want to let the readers know that they will not be disappointed in this resort. We stayed in two different rooms. We stayed in LS (Lagood Suite) 14 and BS (Beach Suite) 9. BOTH rooms were fantastic but we really enjoyed the Beach Suite which is located on the second...

My husband and I stayed at the Tides for Christmas and New Year's for over a week in one of the suites with a private plunge pool.
