What a treat this boutique hotel is. Perched on a hillside overlooking the bustling bay. The grounds are lovely, the hotel, which is a converted private residence, provides rooms with views that are generous in size, feel private and are well equipped. We stayed in the penthouse room which is the whole top floor. The bed had nice linens and was very comfortable, it has an enormous bathroom with a soaking tub & large walk in shower. The real magic is the big walk out balcony with hammock as well as a sitting area and another area with loungers. The staff is friendly and attentive. We had dinner there every night and recommend it, they offer a menu but will pretty much make you whatever you want. There is a bar and they are happy to make you a drink which will be the best you've had since you've been in Mexico, but they don't push them and there is a small cost just added to the room ( worth it though) They made us a beautiful starfruit margarita upon arrival and we ordered one or two every day we stayed there they were so delicious. The starfruit is freshly picked for each drink. We took the kayaks out & went to the nearby beach, the bay can be rough at times so getting in and out of the kayaks can be tricky, the staff is there to help you. Although this location is remote and not really walkable we never had the urge to go anywhere else. We stayed here on the last leg of our vacation and were glad we did, it was a wonderful way to wrap up two weeks in Mexico.

We just returned home from a week in paradise. We stayed in the master suite. It was roomy, well kept and had a comfy bed. The house is stunning, elegant yet laid back. The grounds were well maintained and serene with glorious gardens. One of our favourite spots to sunbathe, fish, drink delicious margaritas and watch the boats and birds was on the concrete deck overlooking the bay. You can see the small fishing village, Boca de Tomatlan from there. It's a 2 minute paddle in the kayak, or a five minute walk. At Boca, we would sit at the beach side restaurant and eat grilled red snapper, guacamole and pico de gaillo while sipping massive margaritas and pacifico beer. Boca is laid back, safe and friendly. We met Ruven Garcia, who with his beautiful wife, and his cousin Wecho piloting the immaculately clean boat, took us on a boat tour of the area. If you see him, definitely book a tour. You won't regret it. The dinners at the hotel were delicious. Esmerelda, the chef and all round manager, made sure the tables were set to delight the senses and ensured each dining experience was romantic, delicious and secluded. An energetic and truly lovely lady. Selena cooked us a gorgeous breakfast every morning and made sure our room was a welcome haven to return to. A wonderful experience and very reasonably priced. Just the antidote for long Canadian winters. Tip, bring pesos, bug spray if you are going to sit in the gardens and a shawl/sweater for early morning as it's a little chilly until around 8:30 am. Suggestion for the hotel, please serve coffee prior to 7:30 am or have coffee makers in the room.

This place was so much more than we ever could have imagined. As others have said it is more bed and breakfast than hotel, which made it that much more unique and wonderful. We were able to take an Uber to Villa Lala from the airport without any issues. Once we arrived we had lunch (the ceviche is AMAZING!) and margaritas (also amazing!) while they readied our room early for us. We stayed in the master suite plus and it was phenomenal.

There is nothing I can fault Villa Lala for. The place is beautiful and kept in great condition, everyone there is so friendly, including the other guests. Most were couples there to hang out and have a relaxing time, ranging in age from late 20s/early 30s up to 60s/70s. Our room had a great view, the beds were comfortable, and the jetted tub was perfect after a day of hiking.

We spent equal parts relaxing at the hotel and venturing out. At the hotel we read books by the pool, played games by the hammocks on the water, and lazed in our room enjoying the view. Outside the hotel, Le Kliff for dinner was a short walk and had amazing food and drinks (but pricey). We hiked to Las Animas and stopped at several great hidden beaches where we were often the only ones there. (If you do that hike, recommend taking the water taxi back for about 50 pesos/person). We also went on a kayaking adventure, underestimating the waves coming back in but the staff and two other guests helped get us in safely.

I will honestly never forget this place. It was the perfect getaway vacation and my only regret is we didn’t stay longer.

My wife and I stayed 3 nights in the love nest tree room and it was amazing. The view was to die for and the service fantastic. They serve coffee every morning to your room through this rotating shelf so you are are not disturbed. The hostess Alba was very attentive and so friendly and Esmeralda prepared and serve us great dinners. The best part was the owner Salvador( famous architect) took us on a private tour of his gardens and building, he explained all details of the building process as well as the names of trees and plants which were installed on the property. If you are looking for a very romantic place/room, this is it. definitely worth the money.

Pros: Nice staff, great breakfast, great bed and great views.
Cons: Very steep driveway and no walkway to town other than road. No coffee maker in room, strange cinnamon smell to coffee offered by kitchen. Hotel e-mailed us weeks before our stay asking food and drink preferences, we wrote back with
Tecate light, Pacifico Light and Negra Modelo...none of which they bothered to purchase. The bathroom had a bidet with a bathtub faucet pointing down. There were little tubs of products with washed off labels not sure what they were. One night we had no water at bedtime. We woke to no hot water in shower...we let it run for a good 20 minutes and decided to just bite the bullet and take cold showers. There was no staff to report this to but the cook who didn't speak English. We decided at that point to cut our loses and look for another place. We had booked the Penthouse for Feb 6th-15th we left after the 3rd night. We found a place in Bucerias which fit our needs. We half expected the owner to inquire about our early departure but no e-mail....I guess he doesn't care!

Thank you for giving your opinion, in Villa Lala our guest are very important for us. The south of Puerto Vallarta has steep mountains with difficult topography, in order to drive all the way to the door, the driveway had to be done with this inclination, we have leveled and made a sidewalk for more than 300 ft on the roadside for the comfort of our visitors when they go to town. We also have gotten coffee makers for every room. On the email you sent us you requested for different beers from now we will be having a light beer as well. The bidet we have in our rooms are the latest models produced by American standards. Here is someone always on call, my phone number is in all the information, so we can take care of any inconvenient like the hot water you mentioned, I wish you had called to solve the problem at the moment. It was a surprise for me you left, when I ask for the reason our concierge said you mentioned there was no action in the area and you like to be close to the bars and restaurants, so you had decided to go to the area of Bucerias where you had more friends. My apologize for all the inconveniences. I would like to offer you to come back if you wish to use 3 nights in the Penthouse, we will have all the light beers on the house for you. You can also give the 3 nights to any of your friends. Thank you for your important opinion, I am now taking action to take care of all the details. Sincerely; Cachi Perez

This little hotel is amazing, the basic rooms are over the top and the tree house rooms words can not describe. The staff are amazing, the food is great (the Coconut Shrimp is the best you'll ever have!!), the beach is ultra private, you will get boat tours heading into Boca slowing down and taking pictures of the hotel/beach and they all love to wave as I'm sure they think your a celebrity! Your only about a 10 minute walk to Boca, traditional fishing village with some really cool beach restaurants. If you want to have a really good hike, go from the hotel to Boca and then hike into Colomitas beach (45 minutes, take water), also at the beach is the highly rated Ocean Grill restaurant which is only accessible by boat or hike out of Boca. Need to book a reservation and they only take cash! This is a must stay hotel, quiet and great for couples that just want to relax ( no crowds, no loud music, no crowded beach or foam parties)

This was the best Vacay ever. Our 3rd time inPuerto Vallarta and the wife and I decided to stay a little bit off of the beaten path, and I am so glad we did. This place is so fantastic that I don't even know where to start.
Let's start with the location. A hop skip and a jump from Boca, thos place is not centrally located, but perfectly located if you are trying to get away from the noise of children and tourists, and want to be calmed by the noise of wildlife, waves, and the sound of fisherman boats coming in with todays catch and tonights dinner.
The grounds are impeccable and beautiful. The pool, the living room, the residences, everything was just perfect.
The staff was great top notch. They knew my name by the second day and I was always greeted with smile and good morning. Paulina and the others were so nice to us and made sure we were helped outh with anything we needed.
Imagine waking up and walking downstairs to a HOT cup of coffee, like they knew what time you would be getting up. Looking over the menu and ordering, only to receive the freshest omelette and fresh squeezed OJ, with an extra side of "beacon". When you see the menu you will know what I am talking about.
Alva is like "the fixer". She is 3 steps agead of you and she knows what you need before you do. The Queen of Concierge. The Boss of Boca, She orders cabs, she arranges tours, she gets you vaccinated. You name it, she can get it done... With a smile.
We felt so at home. I can't wait to go back. I'm going back. I'm craving one of Paulina's Margaritas right now.
Also the owner, Cachi. Super cool, super nice and humble. He's like that guy that has the best thing going, but no need to brag, it speaks for itself.

The place is absolutely beautiful. Everything is organically designed to fit into the natural area on a cliff overlooking the bay with a view out into the pacific. Every room has an amazing view facing west.

The room was so completely wonderful we hardly wanted to leave it. In fact one day, we barely did. We came here for 2 days of relaxation after an active wedding weekend and the place provided what we needed.

Check out the video of our room. My only wish for the room would be to get a little more morning sun. The position of the building didn’t provide sun on our patio until 3 or 4 in the afternoon. Of course, that made for a very cool and refreshing day in which AC was not needed.

The place was fully booked when we visited yet we felt like we had the place to ourselves. We hardly saw other guests and our private balconies made nudity possible. Even in the restaurant, we rarely saw more than 4-6 other guests.

Our saltwater plunge pool was heated to a perfect temp - warm enough to linger in but not too hot to cool off in.

The bathtub/spa in the room had plenty of piping hot water and strong jets. But it takes awhile to fill.

The entire room front doors opened up to make you feel like you were sleeping in nature. Screen doors kept any bugs away. (Though a few lizards seemed to like living on our ceiling). You could hear the wonderful sounds of nature day and night.

Unfortunately, there were lots of other sounds to disturb you as well. Starting early in the morning, you begin to hear the roar of motorboats coming in and out of the bay and it’s nonstop all day. And from the bedroom, you can hear the traffic on the highway when a bus or large vehicle goes by. In addition, the place is improving so there were construction sounds most of the day (though I imagine that’s temporary). Of course, all of these sounds could be hidden with some earplugs at night so you can enjoy the wonderful night breezes.

The service here is wonderful. Everyone is so helpful all the time despite operating on a very small staff.

The food was good enough but not wonderful. Definitely not a foodie place but quality food. Limited menu that doesn’t change day to day so if you ate all your meals here, it could get boring.

The hotel is located about 40 minutes from the airport. Alba, the hotel concierge will arrange private transportation or you can catch a cab a the airport. The staff is over the top nice and attentive. The moment you walk thru the front door, the setting is truly magical. The gardens are well maintain with lovely foliage, the ocean setting and infinity pool are beautiful, the staff will welcome you with a nice cool beverage of your choice. Want a snack after your long flight? No problem. We stayed in the Garden room and also in the Elite Tree house experience (the last night) and both rooms were nice. The Tree House suites with delight your fancy with your own pool on the deck, jacuzzi tubs and amazing views. It is like stepping back in time.
They have kayaks to go to Boca Beach which is about a short 10 minute paddle away. A small tide pool full of small colorful fish at the dock. You can swing in several of the hammocks on the grounds all while sipping a drink and watching the sunset. It is a very quiet place to relax with only 7 hotel guest rooms.
Again, all the staff were extremely pleasant and helpful! They will do what it takes to make your experience a fantastic one!

While you are there, try walking to Le Kliff restaurant ( 5 min walk) for an amazing dinner over looking the ocean. Great food, service and a place to get dressed up and enjoy a sunset with dinner. You won't be disappointed. You can also catch a water taxi to Yelepa beach for the day. Just a few of the things we did while visiting Puerto Vallarta.

Thank you Cachi for being such a great host. You are a genius architect and a welcoming person. You have created a very unique peaceful oasis. Thank you Alba for making sure all our needs were met, for the reservations and all extras. You are an inside out beautiful person and it always was a pleasure to chat with you. Thank you Martha, Luz, Celene and Yuliana for serving us, keeping our room fresh and adding details that made us feel appreciated. Thank you for the great margaritas and meals. Most of all for being so friendly.
