I waited 3 months before deciding to write this. My wife and I have stayed at Hotel Mousai several times over the last several years. We have taken and referred friends. Each time was enjoyable. We had a 4 night stay planned for last December. Like so many other guests, we made the reservation well in advance using a prepaid Travelzoo voucher. The reservation had a 7 day cancellation policy. 5 days before the trip, my wife needed to see a spine surgeon after injuring her back. He prescribed physical therapy. I immediately contacted the airlines and hotel to cancel the trip. Without hesitation, Alaska Airlines refunded the plane tickets. Over the next few days, I spoke to, and exchanged emails with several Hotel Mousai employees in an effort to get my reservation refunded. I provided medical records upon request. In the end, they refunded 1 night because it fell 8 calendar days from the time I cancelled. They refused to refund the other 3 ($1,000). Travelzoo intervened on my behalf but ultimately I was told policy is policy. As a repeat customer, not what I expect from a hotel that bills itself as 5-Star. (I also suspect the hotel had no trouble filling the suite at a higher price than I paid.) In retrospect, during previous stays, I had witnessed the hotel nickel and dime guests and aggressively pursue timeshare business but our experience was always first rate. I guess our luck ran out. …
We just came back from a 2-week honeymoon stay at Hotel Mousai and wanted to share our amazing experience with others: First off, Hotel Mousai was not our first choice in terms of a place to stay for our honeymoon as we had already booked an Air BnB for the same amount of time but quickly found out it wasn’t going to be the honeymoon experience we had wanted. The Air BnB itself was beautiful but it was too noisy and not relaxing having construction and noisy tenants next door so we set out to find the best hotel we could find and came across Hotel Mousai. It is part of the Garza Blanca chain of hotels owned by Tafer Group which is a Mexican-owned corporation (which we liked). It was definitely on the more expensive side for us compared to anything we had previously done but figured it was worth it for our once-in-a-lifetime trip. The hotel and staff did not disappoint us for the entire 2 weeks we were there. Everything was exceptional from the décor, the cuisine, and service. The hotel is very well constructed in terms of the attention to detail in the rooms and the artistic vibe that is present throughout the entire hotel. The ONLY complaint we had was that the room would make a crunching sound (similar to a plastic water bottle popping) when the sun would come out and hit the exterior of the building. It must have had something to do with the construction material and the temperature fluctuations, but it was quite annoying and, at times, made it difficult to rest. Everything else was fantastic about the building. We thought the food was excellent as well. Our favourite restaurant was Bocados Steakhouse because of the mussels and lamb (unbelievably tasty) as we did not try the steak there. For steak, we went slightly offsite (at Tierra Luna) to the paid restaurant called Karuma and we enjoyed a massive tomahawk steak which was delicious. The views and drinks are also amazing from there! We also really enjoyed the Japanese restaurant called Hiroshi as they had a beautiful view from the balcony, great drinks, and some amazing sushi. We like the Chinese restaurant (DAO), and the Italian (NOI) as well, but only ate there once each so we did not get as much of a taste for the items but had a great time and enjoyed the staff at both of them. Our least favourite place was the Mexican restaurant (Blanca Blue) as the food was not as nice or fancy as the other places, so we only went there once for dinner. The breakfast buffet there was amazing though and the handmade crepes and omelettes were delicious. One of our favourite parts of our stay here, however, was the amazing staff that we got to meet and know over our 2 weeks stay. Literally, everyone on site was friendly, warm, and helpful. They made you feel important and made it like you were home. If we could thank everyone individually we would but the list would be massive, so we have a few particular people that we want to note: The first is Carlos who was our butler for the entire time. Carlos is incredibly helpful, professional, and kind. He helped me with several things for my wife and was always available within a moments notice if we needed anything. I am certain the other butlers are just as good, but I highly recommend asking for Carlos as he made our trip that much easier and special. The guy is a rockstar at his job! The next people we would like to thank work at the concierge desk – Jaaziel and Karen. Jaaziel was very friendly and personable with us from the day we arrived. He helped us with organizing things and giving suggestions of where to go around town. I enjoyed laughing with him and his personality made him a pleasure to have around us every day. We looked forward to seeing his smile in the mornings! Karen was also very kind and professional in her role. She was always available to help with whatever we needed and would go the extra mile to do so. We got to know them both throughout our stay here and can say they are very lovely human beings in general and we would visit again just to see them. Since we stayed in the South Tower, the restaurant in our lobby was NOI which is the Italian one. Almost every evening the piano player, Adel, would play beautiful music for everyone eating there and anyone in the lobby. He made the atmosphere feel classy, romantic, and elegant. The bar staff at the lobby bar were amazing and made some of the best cocktails we had our entire trip. Eriberto and the rest of the bartenders know their drinks and you can tell they appreciate their craft. Their attention to detail when making cocktails is excellent. I highly recommend getting a “Smoked Old Fashioned” from there or any one of their cocktails on the list. Even their mocktails were delicious! Jerry from NOI was also excellent and a great server and host to us. We had some great chats about whiskey and brandy, and he went above and beyond to make our even enjoyable. Mario, Javier, and Noemi at Bocados were also amazing and took great care of us every time we visited the restaurant and made our experience more than enjoyable. A few other mentions from the restaurants would be David and Vero from DAO which was the Chinese restaurant – what a pleasant experience it was to have them there. Last, but certainly not least, all the staff on the rooftop bars were amazing. Stephanie was in South Tower almost every day we visited and would greet us with a smile. Alan was at South and then moved to North Tower but was a great guy who learned our names after only meeting for the first time. Really great team up there. There are many others from the team including hosts and servers, but we do not have everyone’s names unfortunately but would recommend all of them for excellent service. After all was said and done, we had an incredible trip to Puerto Vallarta and Hotel Mousai was a large part of that. It was the perfect place for a honeymoon trip as it was adults-only (in Hotel Mousai, not all of Garza Blanca), unbelievably fancy, and brought us peace and quiet throughout our stay. Thank you to everyone there that made it a trip of a lifetime for both of us.…
Miguel and Leonardo took excellent care of us. Loved our pasta, it was homemade! General Manager helped us with wine selections. Great night, dessert was fun, flambéed our apple cake, fun show! Will return for sure.
My wife and I spent 5 nights at Hotel Mousai in a corner suite in the north tower with an all inclusive package. The staff are all incredibly helpful, the food and drinks were all delicious, and the atmosphere was relaxing. We had breakfast at The Terrace several mornings and loved their smoothies and several of the other menu offerings (the breakfast burrito was off the charts). We had dinner at all of the restaurants except for Blanca Blue (which we just did for lunch one day). We went to Noi twice because it was our favorite. Our server the first night (Gabriel) gave excellent and personalized recommendations for us and made some delicious dessert cocktails at the table for us - best server we had all trip. Another standout experience was the kayak tour to the rocks led by the activities guy Danny. It was a blast, but be ready for a lot of paddling. Since we don’t have kids (and don’t really enjoy being around children), the adults only vibe was perfect for us. There were a few places where there were kids (on the Garza Blanca side of things), but for the most part, it was adults only, so it made things a little quieter and more relaxed (sorry if I offend anybody).…
This resort is EXCEPTIONAL. If you want the all-inclusive adults only experience where luxury meets the ocean side, look no further. Hotel Mousai is the place you’ve been looking for. We came here for Spring Break and it’s been an absolute pleasure
We would like to thank the following people for an unforgettable experience at Hotel Mousai. The food, amenities, and customer service are like no other! Bell Boys North Tower Jay from the front desk Jovanna from concierge Emilio and Sergio from activities Humberto from Butler service Cristian and Alan from Hiroshi(breakfast) Last, but not least Horacio from management. He was very friendly, accommodating, and understanding from the first meeting. We never felt pressured and he made the whole process of becoming an Elite Member very easy. Horacio went above and beyond to ensure our stay was one we will never forget.
Ricardo Leon was really helpful and he recommended local spots will be coming back soon the staff were awesome and the food was really good, espero regresar prontro y repeti la experiencia que ofrecen gracias!!
Hotel Mousai is an incredible property. The property is stunning and spacious, the rooms oversized (even our basic room, I can only imagine a corner suite!), the food outstanding, and the facilities a dream. We stayed in the North tower. We ate at Blanca Blue, Bocados steak, and Hiroshi Japanese. At Hiroshi, Alejandro, our waiter, delivered perfect, friendly service. And at Bocados, our breakfast spot, Javiar, Alex and Arturo quickly learned our preferences, were always ready with a smile and positivity. The Rooftop infinity pools are made better by the incredible Pool Concierge staff - thank you Oscar, Juan, and all of the others at Rooftop South for a relaxing day!
Lilith was an incredible! She ensured we had a wonderful trip and took care of us daily. We also enjoyed the stunning rooftop bar and our hot tub and hammock on our room’s balcony overlooking the ocean! Highly recommend checking out the terrace and bocados for breakfast and ordering the breakfast burrito with steak! Thank you again!
We stayed at the north tower in an ultra corner suite. The views were spectacular. The room was immaculate. The terrace with the hot tub and hammock had an expansive view of the bay of Banderas. We picked the all inclusive meal plan. The restaurants included in the plan were outstanding. I could not say enough good things about this resort. The staff are phenomenal. They were endlessly courteous and attentive to our every need. The restaurants covered by the all inclusive meal plan were outstanding. The plan included a wet bar that was restocked every day. A personal butler, Carlos, checked in multiple times every day to see if our needs were being met. he had an extensive knowledge of the resort and his recommendations were always spot on. The north tower has a rooftop bar with an infinity pool that out again over the bay, with impressive views. This spa is a breathtaking experience . The resort is a short taxi ride to downtown shops. I could not say enough good things about this resort. If you want to be pampered and feel special, you could not pick a better one. …
