Based on recommendations from friends, we booked an Ultra Mousai Corner Suite in the North Tower with the all-inclusive package for 6 nights (May 7-13, 2022). We could not have been more pleased with our stay. The corner Ultra suite was amazing and the north tower provided unobstructed views from Los Arcos to the south to all of Puerto Vallarta and the entire Bay of Banderas to the north (the south tower's views are somewhat obstructed by the north tower). Our butler, Eduardo was fantastic and was always quick to respond to any and every request. He really made our stay extra special. We will definitely request Eduardo for our next stay. Also want to call out our housekeeper, Angelica, for her fantastic service. Every staff member we encountered was so friendly and provided excellent service. Mario, our concierge, arranged all our initial dinner reservations as soon as we arrived and was very helpful. Some of our favorite wait staff included Eliu and Miguel at Noi and Marco at Blanca Blue (this ended up being our favorite restaurant for dinner). Breakfast at both The Terrace and BocaDos was fantastic every time. And room service was outstanding. We spent the majority of our trip at the north tower rooftop pool. The food, drinks and entire staff at the pool are awesome. Carlos, our pool concierge, made sure we were always comfortable and was shifting umbrellas to keep us shaded all throughout the day. Jorge was our waiter at the pool for several days of our trip. On our first day at the pool, I mentioned that my wife's birthday was the next day. The next day, Jorge had a special birthday dessert created for her. All through the week, Jorge (as well as the other pool staff, Diego, Victoria, Ricardo, and Marcelino) anticipated our every need. Both Jorge and Carlos truly made our stay something we will always remember. Can't wait to return to Hotel Mousai.

We had an amazing trip with friends. The food and drinks were delicious, service was outstanding, and the views gorgeous! We never felt like it was crowded at the rooftop pool, beach or restaurants. Our butler Ruben went above and beyond to make our stay special. We will definitely be returning!

OMG! Carlos Ramos and the entire staff at Hotel Mousai provided the best service and vacation experience of any 5 star hotel I have ever visited. Every day of my 9 nights with them exceeded my expectations. Every meal, drink, and activity was awesome. The bartenders at the lobby bar of the hotel made me feel at home and their all-inclusive tequilla was fabulous! Definitely a 12 out of 10 rating 🙂

We enjoyed our stay at Hotel Mousai a whole lot, and the people who work there deserve 5 stars. But we were disappointed, mostly because of the 5 stars it got from so many people here. But for us, a 5 star review would have to be in spite of some design flaws, and management issues, all of which could be overcome fairly easily. So, 4 stars it is. Pros: Yes, the service is excellent. But it’s not beyond compare. It’s mostly good solid service for a luxury level resort. I don’t doubt those who raved about the service. But we’ve experienced that level of service at a lot of luxury resorts and on cruises. Some people who stood out and deserve 5+ stars were: Victor Ruiz, our pre-arrival concierge, who was so good he set our expectations as high as the 5 star reviews the hotel usually gets; Lili, our butler; Miguel Aley at Hiroshi; and Maria at the spa who gave me a facial that left me more relaxed than any massage; and the entire staff at breakfast at the Terrace. Again, if you are going, make use of the pre-arrival concierge and hopefully you’ll get Victor. Those were standouts, but everyone was polite, responsive, and helpful. Maybe I just set the bar high – but that’s what I expect at a luxury hotel. Overall, this was achieved but not exceeded. The food is also excellent. Yes, definitely have lunch at the rooftop pool. All the food was top-notch. And while we’re not health nuts, some of the energy drinks were great, especially the Tropical Trail drink at breakfast. It’s addicting and amazing, made of mango, passion fruit, coconut milk, and cream. The décor is not as horribly garish as some of the photos on the company’s Website makes it seem. It’s actually quite nice, if a little “all over the place.” Our room was spacious, and the balcony was even nicer than the pictures. Cons: The hotel suffers from a case of style over function. Most of it is minor, but it adds up, and most of it could also be changed easily and inexpensively. The hammock on the balcony blocks half of the sofa and three-quarters of the coffee table. There is no entry area or vestibule, which means if someone comes to the door while one of you is in bed, they see right in. Worse, from the front door there’s a BIG mirror that gives any staff member at the door a view of anyone coming out of either the shower or the toilet. Move the mirror – problem solved. The automated lights and curtains are a nice idea, but it’s overdone and trying to manually turn on just the lights you want is a nuisance. And my husband and I are not luddites; we’ve had whole-home automation systems. Hotel Mousai’s control interfaces were not intuitive. The red lounge seat in the bathroom which you can see in pictures is comfy… if you have no arms or are very skinny. The desk chair is so heavy it sounds like a bulldozer when you try to move it, like when one of you gets up earlier and wants to check email. A simple fix – get a desk chair with some wheels or one that is lighter. Again, cheap fix. There were lovely looking sofas at some of the tables at the Terrace, but it took two staff people to push it close enough so people could eat comfortably, and once pushed in, another person would have to climb around the table leg to join them. The slope that the hotel is on is very steep, and the private road connecting the two towers, the mid-level pool, the steak restaurant, hotel Garza Blanca and the beach is all cobblestones, so it’s difficult walking. There is a trolley that runs reliably every 15 minutes or so, and it’s cute as the dickens. But it has no shocks and wooden seats. You need to be chubby and have your own cushioning to be comfortable. Apparently, they are buying some more comfortable, if less adorable vehicles, but I don’t know how many. A big problem if you’re at all a light sleeper is noise. Every time the trolley arrives at the hotel, which is every 15 minutes, we could hear its engine sounds in our room, on the 11th floor, which is the highest floor for guestrooms. People standing around at the front entrance, speaking in regular tones can be heard inside our closed room. Granted it wasn’t loud enough to keep us awake, but to be able to hear someone 11 stories down isn’t good. Partly this is because the steep hills behind the hotel funnel the sound towards the building. Nothing can be done about that. But the big heavy doors are not well sealed. You can see light come through them with the blinds drawn and the room dark, and where light can go, sound can go. I bet a strip of foam seal around the doors would help. As I said, these are all minor things, but when you advertise yourself as a luxury resort, they were unexpected and quite disappointing to us. So, I asked myself, “how come I don’t feel like raving about the place?” Maybe the type of guests the hotel had when we were there is telling. The average age was late-20s, early-30s and everyone seems to be having a blast. But many seemed to be on company junkets or there for a wedding and/or honeymoon. They didn’t find the non-stop, somewhat loud, club-dance-techno “music” annoying; and it did seem like their stay was a BIG deal for them, and I can see how if I were them, I would be WOWed. Finally, the whole time I was there I kept thinking everyone (staff, management, the designers and guests) were just trying a wee bit too hard. That manifested itself in the fact that three-quarters of the staff were openly BEGGING for us to mention them in an online review or in the company’s post-visit survey. I get that having guests like a staff member is a good way to determine raises, bonuses, or promotions. But it’s also a good way to make guests feel guilty, if they aren’t taking notes about everyone who’s nice to them. Service in a luxury facility should be invisible, not shoved in your face. I don’t blame the staff. Many are young and I assume are told that “your success with the company depends on reviews.” But the best servers where slightly older and seemed to understand you don’t beg for good reviews, you give excellent service. Ok, that wasn’t my last item. In Hiroshi, the wonderful Japanese restaurant with some of the best sashimi and nigiri I’ve ever had, there is a visible grill where they prepare yummy skewers. In front of it was (that’s a clue) a thick maybe 2’ x 3’ piece of tempered glass. While we were there, it exploded into 1000s of small chunks of flying glass. Luckily no one was sitting at the table just about 4 feet in front of the glass. But we were sitting about 8 feet away, at the table closest to the explosion and close enough so glass shards went under our seats and beyond our table. Luckily, we were far enough that the projectiles were close to the floor, and in small enough numbers that none hit us. Accidents happen. I don’t fault Hotel Mousai for the fact of the explosion. But several staff members were standing around looking at the mess, and then started to clean it up before anyone came to see if we were OK. And then the poor floor manager who was not normally “guest facing” but a supervisor to the staff had to struggle with limited English to express official concern that this accident interfered with your enjoyment. It was just “Oh scary accident, bye.” The only person from Hotel Mousai who really expressed interest in how we were was our butler, Lili, who wasn’t there but I guess heard about it through the grapevine and texted the next morning asking how we were. We usually vacation on cruises going to Mexico and the Caribbean, and the cruises we’ve gone on, like Mousai, cater mostly to US and other English-speaking citizens. And on the cruises and Mousai all staff that interact with guests speak some version of English. But on the cruise ships there is always an English as their first language management person available for any problem. I felt sorry for the poor guy who eventually came to talk to us after the glass exploded. No one from management ever said a word to us. I don’t know if they have anyone on staff who can speak fluent English. We never saw or heard any. I know I sound horribly ethnocentric, and I think some of the younger guests felt very exotic being on foreign soil. But if you’re making money mostly from English speakers, enough so all guest-facing employees speak some English, then have someone in management who isn’t struggling with communication. Because you never know when a big piece of glass will explode and the hotel has the bad luck of having older guests who have higher standards be at the closest table. If this were the hotel’s first year I would say “they are so close, and I’m sure they will be at 5 stars soon. But Hotel Mousai opened I think 5 or 6 years ago. It’s not new and I doubt it will be changing. And apparently many people find it 5 star-worthy. But for us, it’s 4 stars.

Everything is wonderful- Eduardo our butler, Ricardo L was awesome at greeting us every time we got back, dinner at Karmura was amazing(Omar, Enrique, DD, Axel we’re VERY prompt with everything)! The hotel is wonderful- the only snafus we had were the concierge has two misques and didn’t communicate with the kayak team and had the wrong date with the Covid test team- no biggie and they resolved it. Lastly with our ‘deal’ we had free breakfast and a ‘$800 resort credit’ for our 4 night stay but upon checking out the breakfast charges were all there(they took them off when I showed the confirmation email) and the resort credit had small print qualifiers and we only actually received approx $300 of the $800 we thought we would receive. Technically my bad for not reading the small print but still tacky and the check out processs was much longer that it should have been bc it seemed like multiple people were having issues with their billing st check out. So check your bill! But otherwise the location is amazing, the beach is wonderful, the staff is TOP NOTCH, very clean, food was tasty- I’ll be back. Also, don’t forget to get as many pesos as you can before arriving at the hotel bc the hotel currency rate exchange is very very poor. Bank was 20 pesos per USD but the hotel was 17.6 pesos per 1 USD. If you can pay your whole bill with pesos youll save an extra 8-10%!!!!

Erick- Trolly driver Erick has been amazing. He has driven us the past few nights and every ride with him is such a fun experience. Before taking off he shouts “party time and ariba ariba” to get the mood started. It has been one of the experiences we love here at hotel mosui. Romantic dinner on the beach - Mauricio - Angel - Juvintino - Gustavo - These four guys made our private dinner on the beach amazing. The scenery was beautiful and the service was exceptional! Thank you guys! DAO Chinese restaurant - Alberto and Eduardo served us and really went above and beyond. They were great and didn’t have us waiting a second! Ramon- guest services- very kind and helpful. Helped us with late check out, ensuring we had transportation, and letting us know of the cut off time for all inclusive. Chuy- photographer I’m not sure if Chuy works for the hotel or if he does contract work, but he is amazing. He took photos of us on our romantic dinner. They were gorgeous and we are super happy we bought them from him! Security- beach- Javier Javier was so special, sweet and amazing. He made sure we had everything we needed even though I don’t think it was his job (towels, drinks, etc.) we also noticed he helps keep watch of the beach. Someone cut their hand and he ran over instantly with a kit. He is very kind and a friend we hope to see again for our next trip here!

I have been to over 10 all inclusive resorts in Mexico and four others in Puerto Vallarta. This was my first time at Hotel Mousai and certainly will not be my last! If you want lots of hotel activities and happenings around the pool and at night, this is not the resort for you. However. if you want luxury beyond your imagination for Mexico, then Hotel Mousai is for you. The service is above and beyond any I have gotten. Carlos Ramos was our butler and he was EXCELLENT! I had heard so many good comments about him that I actually requested him to be your butler and I am so glad that I did. He came to our room upon arrival and then checked in with us daily. Carlos would text in the mornings, check on us at the rooftop pool, made our dinner reservations, confirmed airport transportation and was there at our beck and call. Monica was our housekeeper and she made certain our room was left in tiptop shape and cleaned in a timely manner. Mini bar was restocked daily and our water requests filled without any issues. The food at Hotel Mousai is TOP NOTCH. You will not find better food at any all inclusive resort in Mexico or the Caribbean. Hiroshi is superb! The sushi is like nothing I have ever had before. Christian and Ignacio were our waiters on the two times we ate there and their suggestions were perfect. You must try the Mango and Mexican roll and the Miso Creme Brulee was to die for. Noi is absolutely amazing Italian food. This is not your spaghetti and meatballs kind of place. It is high end and well worth it. Our waiter there was Alejandro and he took was excellent with good suggestions. The Orechiette is wonderful, risotto with almonds and fig compote delicious. The warm lentil salad is definitely something to write home about. We even got to meet the chef, Francisco Cavicci, He and I spoke Italian and I got a real kick out of that. He is experienced and talented well beyond his years. We ate there twice because we both liked it so much! Second time got totake a picture with Signore Cavicci and I will treasure that forever! We also ate at Dao, and Blanca Blue and Bocados at Garza Blanca. They were also good. The hotel rooms are large, clean, and well furnished. We had an Ultra Mousai Corner Suite and it was worth every penny. Spend the extra and treat yourself, as you will not be disappointed. My room was larger than my condo back home. The views from the balcony are just perfect and sunsets to be seen for sure. Hot tub on the balcony is a real treat and we enjoyed that several times. Even got to see the Lunar Eclipse perfectly from the rooftop pool. And, yes, the rooftop infinity pool is the place to be.Seating was available whenever we wanted, food delicious there as well, and views amazing. All staff at the hotel, restaurants, pool, and even the trolley drivers was wonderful. They are always willing to help and their response is "it is my pleasure", which is so nice to hear. We did use the trolley to go down to Garza Blanca and Tierra Luna. I was looking foward to Tierra Luna as I had read about the nighttime activities and special evenings. Unfortunately, all that was cancelled two weeks before we arrived. It is a lovely area but there was no one there. Shops are pricey and don't open until 3:00pm. I have never taken the time or was even interested in writing a review of where I traveled to. I felt Hotel Mousai was worth my time and I wanted to share this wonderful experience with you. Hotel Mousai I miss being there already and I hope to be back real soon! The only one thing I need to mention is that when you order a drink the server would ask "double or triple"? That seems strange to me. I just want a good drink to enjoy and not a watered down drink.

This was our 2nd visit and it was just as amazing as our first trip in 2021! Checkin was smooth, we were extremely happy to get a corner suite in the north tower - phenomenal view. We didn’t want nor need a concierge and as we requested, we’re very happy to get Carlos Ramos again as our butler! Just call him the everywhere man - he’s constantly tending to everyone’s needs, including ours - he’s truly an asset to the hotel! The rooftop pool floor is where we liked to spend our days - service remains excellent as does the food. Breakfast is always excellent, my fav being the huevos rancheros. We tried Dao this time and it was clearly a cut above, absolutely delicious and we loved the staff too! This was the second time we ate at BocaDos and it’s clearly our least favorite- won’t dine there again. Shout out to the happy trolley guy too! We’ll return later this year!
