My experience at Almar Resort! The employees were very friendly and accommodating, especially Mar at the front desk. Mar was incredibly helpful and made my stay even more enjoyable. The service was top-notch, and I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Puerto Vallarta.

My husband and I booked a trip to Puerto Vallarta for our honeymoon a while back and we were a little nervous about traveling during the pandemic. However, the staff at Almar, Mantamar, and The Top Bar did an amazing job of making us feel comfortable and safe.
They had very clear protocols in place and followed them always! The service was incredible. Mauricio was great at arranging our transportation from the airport and making sure we didn’t get roped in by all they other groups as we left the airport.
Our concierge Mariana was amazing and very attentive. She checked on us often to make sure we were comfortable. Jesus was excellent, he took care of our bags made sure they were sanitized before bringing them in and then took us to our very well appointed room. He did an outstanding job of showing us around the room and explaining what services were available.
Alex Sosa was one of our many servers at Mantamar and did a terrific job of attending to us as we enjoyed the amazing private beach area. The staff at the beach club was really amazing and exceptionally friendly!
Juan Gonzalez, Edgar, David and all of the servers at The Top Bar were fantastic. Breakfast was included and for $5 you could upgrade to some local dishes that were all very good.
We really enjoyed our trip and we will definitely be returning, hopefully very soon! Thanks to everyone for making our honeymoon special.

On January I stay here with a big group for a birthday party. First of all the check in process was difficult they still having a lot of paperwork for checking and check out. The cleaning service for the rooms is very poor they are not consistent. They do not deliver the same amount of towels soap toilet paper and essentials, in some cases they do not deliver that at all. The cleaning of the room is not good. Spoke to the customer service manager he promised to solve the situations and nothing ever happened worst manager ever. Complained several times about the lack of service in the room nothing ever happens. This hotel claim to be five star did not even close to a three star service. It’s not worth it staying here for the money you pay is better to rent an apartment in the surrounding area and you be better off. Totally disappointed with the room service cleaning of the room supplies in the room and the response from the manager what’s the worst never stay here again. Also the construction makes the balcony dirty/dust cant open door and too much noise.

I read some reviews on trip advisor and was a bit concerned how my vacation would be. Turns out I worried for no reason. My only recommendation is be aware the hotel uses 2 types of coffee makers depending on what room you get, one is a regular brewer type the other Nescafé pods. With the regular brewer type the hotel gives you a free package of coffee everyday. With the Nescafé pod machines you are allowed 2 pods the 1st day of your stay after that you are charged for every pod every day. I feel there should be a sign on the Nescafé machines or at check in you should be told there is a charge for every pod you use after the initial two. The pods are $2-3 USD so it can add up during a stay. Other than that, The hotel was beautiful modern clean hotel with caring sweet employees who go a step above and beyond! Always a smile when we arrived back at the hotel and they were sincerely wanting to know if we were enjoying our stay or having any problems. I left my phone in the taxi that took us to from the hotel to a restaurant. It was an iPhone and with the find my iPhone feature I could see it going all around PV. When I got back to the hotel I told the doorman what happened. Turns out the doormen write down the taxi numbers along with your room numbers every time you leave or come back. The doorman called the taxi company and got the taxi drivers phone number which he then called. After talking to the taxi driver the taxi driver brought my phone back to the hotel! Everyone from the front counter employees, doormen, concierge and the maids were amazing. A couple of especially wonderful employees that made our stay extra nice were doorman Jesus and Concierge Angel. You can’t go wrong staying at Almar!

Excellent Service all around. The Massage I received from VALENTINO was excellent and very Professional. The front desk staff was on the ball, and well as the concierge service. I had forgotten that many restaurants close around 10pm during the week, but the hotel set us up with taxi service to places that were still open. The taxi waited for us and did not charge extra. One thing I really enjoyed was the pre-massage we received while waiting to be helped. Very nice touch. I also liked the fact that every person that comes into the hotel including staff has their temperature taken at the front desk as well as given hand sanitizer. The beach staff will escort you to a Numbered Umbrella . The beach chairs are sprayed right in front of you before you sit down. And towels are given to you that are WRAPPED in plastic.

I rarely write reviews but felt the need to do so, as I almost cancel my stay here due to all the bad reviews about construction noises. I am extremely happy I didn't as I had an amazing time! First I have to start by saying, the construction and noise are very real. however, it is not as bad as some reviews made me believe. The noise is not constant, but sometimes it goes longer than others. There are days, where I didn't even hear a thing (and I stayed there for a full week). I think it is all about expectations. Because I was expecting unbearable noise all day, I did not think it was that bad. People that don't know there is construction and find out when they get there, are the ones that will be upset the most . I would recommend the hotel making more clear to guests about this issue before their arrival. The reasons I liked the hotel: The property is very nice and rooms are huge! The service is AMAZING! And this is from everyone : Lobby staff, sky bar, spa, beach staff. They all exceeded my expectations. The food is very good both at the skybar and the beach club, and prices are decent for a 5 star resort. Location is great, only 5 minutes walk to town. They take COVID seriously as staff was always wearing their masks and all guests get their temperature checked and hands sanitized upon entrance. On top of that, the cleaning ladies leave rooms spotless! If you want a fun LGBT enviroment, with amazing service, access to the fun beach club, incredible massages and good food - then you have to stay here. If you are looking for a very peace and quiet place where you can take long naps- then probably come back after construction is done.
I work in the travel industry and would totatlly recommend this hotel.
PS: the views of the sunset are amazing from the skybar!

Yes, the resort is undergoing development. There is noise from the construction between the hours of 10:00 AM to no later than 7:00 PM, however, we were still able to take our afternoon naps with minimal disturbance. Most of the interior renovations appear to be complete, and are quite impressive. Our room, on level 10, was very spacious, exceptionally clean, and well-appointed with a very comfortable bed and quality linens. The view from the nicely sized balcony was amazing. Entrance to Mantamar Beach Club, complete with a pool, bar, restaurant, and complimentary shaded beach loungers is free to hotel guests. Although there was music during the day, it was quiet after sunset. The entire staff was extremely friendly, courteous, and welcoming. Our rate included breakfast which we enjoyed at the Top Sky Bar, another great space. Our server, Antonio, greeted us each morning by name and could not have been more personable. Although were initially dissuaded by some of the negative reviews, we decided to take a chance and are so very glad we did. We will definitely return!

We went with another couple who had already stayed before. Most of the staff was great. They try their best to cater to all your needs. Quick response on things requested such as towels etc. Good location on the beach but always had to explain to all the cab drivers where the hotel was located. I want to say that it’s still under construction because the entire week we were there, some elevators down to the mantabar were not in service, instead we were directed to use the service elevator and go through a kitchen entrance. We asked for assistance on some “adventurous” things to do throughout the week and the staff was quick and efficient with helping us get tickets/reservations. Housekeeping staff was great, always had our room clean and the one day we didn’t put our “clean” sign on our door they still checked to see if we wanted it cleaned. Overall we enjoyed our stay and decided to visit and stay again in January 2022.
The “bad” parts of our stay were: Internet/WiFi is terrible! Constantly disconnecting. Even when we would try and watch Netflix or YouTube videos on their TVs, connection would drop. Availability of rooms, they gave us two beds even when we requested a single bed because of availability even though we had booked months in advance. Phone in the room had to be replaced. Fees for some of their stuff on their pool areas like their “cocoons” or even their cabanas even though we were guests there. Shower had a shower head that wouldn’t work, instead had to use a handheld shower head. Room has a distinct smell, mildew kind of smell. Probably had to do with the humidity of the room. Drawer space was limited in our room.
Again nothing too “bad” but things that could use improvement.
Would still recommend.

We are a group of friends who have been meeting annually for the last 12 years always at a tropical and preferably gay-friendly local in March. Puerto Vallarta is often our best option and in the past we have stayed multiple times at Casa Cupula. CC treated us wonderfully but we decided to try Almar for a change of scenery. I must say that this year was one of our favorite trips. The hotel is new, the service was top notch and the food/drinks lived up to expectations. We spent nearly every day at the adjacent Mantamar beach club. Despite current construction (10am-7pm), the room was quiet and aside from needing to take an alternate route to the beach club, we didn't experience any disruptions. That said, when the hotel has it's own pool, that will be be a nice bonus so that when you feel like getting away from the "scene" at Mantamar, you can escape to somewhere at least a little quieter and smaller. The fitness facility was also well-equipped, clean and new. The only tiny complaint we had was the security bracelet. It's made from cheap, plastic and can get uncomfortable over the course of the week. The hotel is too luxurious not to find a better option.

Multiple pool and cabana options. If you are a hotel guest, you are able to use the Eden Pool which has cabana for rental, and plenty of chairs.

Well, I guess it depends. We were there in early December 2021. The pool area on the 5th floor of the main building is quieter. We have made friends there. People we met were friendly. I even heard some hot actions in the hot tubs at sunset. :-)
The beach club on the beach is more of a party place with some hot bods, loud music, younger crowd. We could see them from the pool/hot tub on the 5th floor. It seems to be a fun place.
I have heard stories about unfriendly wait staff demanding more tip. But I have not encountered any of those. My problem was more with the check-in people and front desk management about my assigned room, though it was finally resolved.

Yes, reserve ahead of time is better.. you can always go down there to go to the beach. But if you need to have a chair, especially a cabana, you need a reservation.
There are more places to choose from in the Puerto Vallarta area.
