    Terrific Visit
We recently visited with a large group of adult family/friends and had five partial ocean view rooms booked at Krystal Altitude. Rooms were recently renovated, clean, spacious and all had views of the ocean. Guests are provided with wrist bands for room access instead of cards. Great idea! Beds/pillows were very comfortable and ac worked well. Mini bar was restocked daily with water, beer, pop, snacks. There was a coffee maker, iron/ironing board and a large TV with lots of English and Spanish channels. Wifi worked well everywhere on the property. During the week, we were able to get chairs by the pool/beach by 8am. It got busier on the weekends, so we just went down a bit earlier. No smoking on the property whatsoever, but some people would smoke on the beach. We are all nonsmokers so made sure our chairs were closer to the pool area to avoid the drift of smoke. There were whale sightings in the bay every day. The food was plentiful and very tasty. The SeaFire buffet offers a large selection at breakfast (omelettes, waffles, bacon, sausages, fruit, yogurt, sweet rolls, Mexican favs, etc) and lunch (freshly grilled fish, shrimp, scallops, chicken, pork, beef, salads, stirfrys, soups, tortilla wraps, etc) and daily themed dinners (Asian, Italian, Mexican, International). During the afternoon, there is a pool/beachside grill for hamburgers, hot dogs, fries, onion rings, pizza, breaded fish strips, chicken wings, guacamole and chips. There is also the O’West sushi bar on the fourth floor that had good sushi and a swimming pool overlooking the bay. Great for drinks and a sushi snack at sunset. The a la carte restaurants need reservations. Guests may reserve in the morning between 8/9am (times were inconsistent, so you may have to make repeat visits to make your reservation). Italian a la carte was good. The Steak a la carte was good and located on the Hacienda side. Very zen-like spot surrounded by lush tropical greenery. Unfortunately, we had service issues with our waiter (coincidentally the same waiter who mistakenly served us full glasses of vodka instead of water the evening before in the SeaFire buffet restaurant), and one of our meals was served raw (twice!). Gotta say, that’s never ever happened before. The other server, Daniel, jumped in to try and make things better, however, and we all appreciated his sincere efforts. Dinner took two and a half hours so we opted not to return. We’re on vacation, so no worries! The hotel also offers nightly entertainment including karaoke, disco dance, Mariachi dancers and a Michael Jackson tribute performance. The hotel staff were all terrific. Shout out to Alondra who made perfect omelettes every morning, Ariadna who worked the grill, Guillermo and Felix who made sure our drinks were always full, Jose in the SeaFire buffet who was friendly and efficient, the entertainment team for fun with bingo, aqua aerobics, poolside games, and finally to Cassandra at the front desk for great customer service and the last smile as we checked out. The staff really make the difference! One side note to add, with being regular visitors to PV over the years, I was a bit nervous about the Krystal name takeover of this property. However, the intent is to make the Krystal Altitude a higher end brand experience. As such, travellers should be mindful not to confuse the Krystal PV with the Krystal Altitude. They are two completely different properties. We encountered a bit of that with taxis and had to refer to the old Hilton name to make sure they knew where to go. In closing, thank you Krystal Altitude for a terrific vacation. We will definitely return.
Dear Guest: First of all, we would like to thank you for choosing us as your hotel destination during your vacation. We strive to provide exceptional, quality service to all our guests and your experience certainly reflects our commitment to doing things right, we will gladly commend the staff for their hard work. There are much better all-inclusives in PV than here…
Check in experience was 100% cumbersome and it took three hours. The property is under new ownership and it was obvious since the 3 rooms we booked at the same day/time weren’t even available. Not going to get into the shouting match that ensued when they tried to double charge our friends a room they had already paid for… We ended up in one of the “swim out” rooms in the adults only/Hacienda side, which is a bit of a misnomer. The “pool” was more like a giant bath tub that comfortably sat 6 people. The room itself was OK, but nothing special. The side with kids on it was kind of a zoo and the beach itself is meh. The main pool on the adults only side was empty, probably because it’s not heated and pretty frigid. On the plus side, this made it super easy to get a drink and the servers (especially Emma) were excellent and friendly. We wanted strong drinks and they definitely delivered on that end. The “roof top” pool was a lot livelier, but crowded. The reservations system needed for a la carte dinner is no joke. They fill up pretty much before noon each day, but oddly enough the dining rooms felt empty. The Italian place wasn’t great— every one of our dishes was cold and while nothing tasted “bad”, it was just weird to have pasta that tasted like leftovers that sat out on the counter after being taken out of the fridge. The French place was probably the best, but the other one was so forgettable I don’t even remember what it was. The servers, again, did a great job and worked hard to get our food and drinks out quickly, so they aren’t to blame. The buffets were not great and room service apparently isn’t free like other places. I forget how much it cost (not a lot), but we found it strange. Tbh, I think the issues with this place stem from poor management. The employees who actually provided services (drinks, food, bell hops, etc) were all great and made what was an otherwise mediocre experience a fun trip with friends. That said, we won’t be returning and I would recommend staying elsewhere since the location isn’t that close to town and it got annoying taking Uber rides all the time.
Dear Jhon Thank you very much for taking the time to share your experience with us, we are glad to know enjoyed our services. We appreciate your contribution, for us it is very important to know and improve, we will take the opportunity areas mentioned so we hopefully see you in your next trip and make your stay the best.

    Excellent New Years experience
Stayed at Krystal AltitudeVallarta with family for new years vacation and was not disappointed. I was concerned about going as we booked when the hotel was still a Hilton and saw reviews plummeted once the hotel was converted to Krystal. Entire family couldn’t figure out what the issue was a we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We had junior ocean front rooms and they were awesome. Unobstructed views of the ocean and the setting sun each night. Rooms were well equipped with jacuzzi tubs on deck, soaker tubs and rainfall showers, mini bars, bathrobes, in room safe and wifi. Bathrooms amenities were excellent, soaps, dental kits, shampoo, conditioner, shaving kit, body lotion and shower soap. We had a coffee maker in the room which was a type of mini Nespresso machine. Unfortunately in both rooms we couldn’t get this machine to operate properly as the water would not come through the machine but leaked through the bottom. We solved this by running to the buffet and picking up coffee to enjoy on the deck in the morning. A/C in the room worked great. Beds were very comfy. Plenty of choices for food and drinks. The only poor experience we had was at the Italian restaurant so I would not book it if I was to return. The Italian restaurant tablecloth was dirty and stained when we arrived and the food there was unappetizing. We ended up at the buffet after the Italian. Beach is great and we were always able to find chairs. What this hotel is doing right is removing towels from chairs if people haven’t shown up for an hour or two. This alleviates the issue with chairs reserved all day and left empty. I wish all resorts would do this as I have seen so often chairs reserved and no one on them until late afternoon. Rooms and mini bars were serviced daily . Excellent stay and kudos to the resort! Only things for improvement would be the Italian restaurant , in room coffee makers, and moving the games (shuffle boards etc) out of lobby. When we went to lobby bar at night to listen to performances we could not hear it over the clang of the games. Definitely recommend booking this hotel! New years at this resort if definitely a memorable one!
Dear Mmckin We appreciate your visit to Krystal Altitude Vallarta. We are pleased to know that your experience was the best and that our services met your expectations. We look forward to your visit again and give you the best welcome.

This resort overall was nice, the room was very nice and the bed was so comfortable very well maintained. The buffet was just ok not much selection of food.I liked the food served at the pool way better. The beach I know it’s a Pacific Ocean but I did not expect that undertow it’s so strong beware I almost drowned in the front and I can swim. This is also not a private beach it has vendors coming up to you every second to try and sell you something I know it’s there job but after u buy things from them the next day they do the same thing it can get annoying when your trying to relax.the grounds are nice well kept.I found this resort very boring I don’t know if it’s the time of year we went but there was no entertainment whatsoever the main bar was in the lobby after 10 pm it was a ghost town.the location was good you can walk off the resort and feel safe there was a few restaurants and took a 10 min cab to the Center where there’s more restaurants and clubs, overall This hotel was nice but didn’t like the beach and it was boring won’t be coming back.

The hotel seems to be in disrepair. One out of two elevators never worked during our 5-day stay. Many of my family members were locked out of their rooms throughout the visit because their electronic room keys stopped working. The ceiling of the main lobby areas leaked as evidence by buckets collecting rain water everywhere.

Responded Aug 16, 2023
Dear Jennifer S Unfortunately we had in Puerto Vallarta a very strong and unexpected meteorological phenomenon that affected hotels, plazas and shopping malls, the rain and winds were very intense, the elevator bucket was flooded and it was necessary to install pumps, wait for several circuits to dry and apply chemicals so as not to damage them or compromise the safety of our customers, fortunately of the 5 elevators we have only one was out of service for a couple of days, as soon as the company responsible for maintenance confirmed that we could use them they were put into circulation, the same thing happened in the lobby, we were forced to channel the water to two specific points, as soon as it was completely drained the two points were sealed and the ceiling is free of leaks; as for food and beverages we have the policy that if something is not to your liking we will immediately prepare something of your preference, we have customer service staff, captains, sous chef or any supervisor of the hotel, we are to meet your suggestions. I would love you to tell us more details about your stay to work immediately in our areas of opportunity, I am at your disposal in the mail lavelar@krystal-hotels.com, it will be a pleasure for me to stay in touch with you. Pros: food, drinks, service, location, cleanliness, kids club and size of rooms. The hotel caters mostly to Mexican tourism due to its cost; therefore expect a lot of families and kids. This is not a hotel I would recommend for couples looking to relax. It is a place where families have fun; I went with my family so we had a great time. It is an excellent stay if you obtain the room at the right price. (You have to be realistic. You can’t expect a luxury experience at a hotel not priced as such. The hotel can use some maintenance/repairs/replacements especially in the common areas (bars, hallways, floors, and booths) and with some of the equipment that the staff uses. Also if there was a way for the hotel to develop more shaded areas at the pool, it would help. But the place is very clean. Some nicer uniforms for the staff would help as well. For the price I paid I cannot complain too much. But I figure i mention a few things because this hotel has the potential to be even more amazing with a little TLC. The food and service are great. My son loved the kids club. And the location is great if you desire to explore other parts of town or to go shopping.

Dear guest: Receive a warm greeting and thank you for sharing the details of your stay with us, our hotel is composed of two experiences, The Hacienda and Krystal Grand, if you book in Hacienda or Suites, you have direct access to the exclusive areas for adults, a bracelet is delivered which allows you to enjoy all the facilities without restrictions. We are working in some areas, due to the passing of a storm that caused damage to restaurants, some bars and lobby, fortunately nothing that prevents us from offering full services, we hope to have everything at 100% soon. Thank you again for your trust and we invite you to allow us to serve you again in the near future, for us it will be a pleasure to be your hosts once again. Best regards

Room service was awful because we had to wait for 3 hours before going down to the front desk, where I was told I had to pay a $9 fee. They never said that we had to pay up front, so the customer assumes they will collect when they check out. I actually had to contact them ten times before going to the front desk. The room's AC wasn't operating properly, and one of the elevators wasn't functional for five days. Food is terrible because they serve breakfast items in the evening as well. Once we arrived, they informed us that they would only provide 2 dinner tickets for stays of 3 to 4 nights. I have no idea why this ridiculous restriction exists, but they ought to inform the consumer when making the reservation. The staff is extremely unwelcoming and nasty, and the bar staff has no idea how to make drinks; they blatantly mix what the customer orders. They are crazy about towels, they keep placing 2 towels for 4 people and i need to call almost everyday. Overall, we had a terrible time, therefore I advise you guys to stay away.

We had a great family trip at the Krystal Altitude hotel in Puerto Vallarta. My son loves the swimming pool and the kids club and I like the fact that not only is the food really good but service is top notch. The bartenders do a wonderful job quickly getting the beverages and they have good quality booze. Breakfast is good but lunch and dinner is great! The French and Italian restaurants were my favorite. I really enjoyed our stay and look forward to returning in 6 months.

The room is perfect but I really didn’t like the food, there’s no quality either buffet or restaurants. If you are looking to just sleep at night and go for adventure outside of the hotel I recommend this place but if you’re coming to stay in hotel and enjoy everything together it’s not a resort. Btw drink was okay not very fancy but okay.

I can genuinely say that this was the worst and most expensive vacation I’ve ever been on. I was hungry for the entire time that I was here, the food is absolutely disgusting. The service (with the exception of 2 people) was horrible. The staff can speak English when they’re reprimanding you but are suddenly deaf and blind when you try to ask for something. The room was full of mosquitoes, the common areas filled with giant red ants and a family of 4 raccoons swimming in the pools at night. BTW the pools all close at 9, the hotel doesn’t allow music after 3pm, and the bars close at 7 or 9 depending on which one you go to. I would have been happier staying home and working. Not sure why the reviews are so good, I’m convinced they’re either fake, leftover from when it was a Hilton, or these poor people just don’t know any better. I would not recommend this place to anyone unless I hated them.
