This hotel is so good. the views are the best as the balcony is glass so you get the ocean view. Every room will have the ocean view due to the placement of the hotel. Only downside is the regular deluxe room is two double bed. So that mean more cuddling. The services is excellent. Everyone is really nice and helpful. We were here when there was the earthquake. There was 4 earthquake inour 7 days here. The first one was super scary as we all had to evacuated into the parking lot and stayed there for 5 hours till the structure person deemed it was OK to stay. The hotel aftermath was cracked in some places on the side and some guest says that the room was destroyed the glass and dresser falling. This is not the hotels fault but sleeping in the room after was very scary as there was 3 more earthquakes that happen during the morning around 130am. Running down the stairs at 130 am and seeing the cracks everywhere was super alarming. Felt like a sceane in the movie. The El fresco is the best with ac as it is super cold and you can get smoothies. They got all fresh fruit you can get. It just sucks that the smoothies stop at 11 am cause it is so good and it is so hot. Lunch menu is pretty good no buffet all restaurants are order of the menu. You will have to make reservations for the dinner but it just sucks as they're is only one dinner restaurants but it does change everyday. I enjoy the variety and wish I can choose which restaurant I like to try but this resort does not offer that. Still not a big issue. Everyone complain about the noise from the construction as they are expanding but it is not bad at all. One great thing is that they got pool towel service all day so you can always get a fresh towel even when you swim at night. That was a dream and luxury I never had before at other resorts. Oh stay away from the oysters under the bridge at the malecon board walk. I ate 12 fresh oysters for 150 peso sick was excellent for value but I got food poison and it is been 4 days not stop. Everything was so good except the earthquake. You will definitely enjoy your stay here.

Our family had a wonderful time at Sunset Plaza. The service was exceptional and staff were friendly and accommodating. Not as big as other resorts but we appreciated the quieter atmosphere. There was plenty to do in terms of games and activities and the resort’s location is close to shops, restaurants and other amenities. Food was great and there was enough variety to try something new almost every day for our week-long stay. Would highly recommend!

Mario, Miguel, Fernando & Armando were phenomenal. Please give them a raise as they are excellent at their job & exemplify 5 Star customer service! This was by far the best hotel we have ever stayed at in Mexico after traveling. to Cancun, Cabo & Playa Del Carmen multiple times. The experience provided at this resort is impeccable!

Everyone at sunset was amazing! The staff is amazing here & very personable. David was super nice & welcoming, he took his time to make sure we were entertained with the bartending class & even taught/played blackjack with my friends & I. Hector & Samuel as well were super hospitable & made sure my friends & I were taken care of. For my birthday they Samuel helped arrange a birthday surprise & they all sang for me as well. I would highly recommend this place! The only downside I would say is the pool bar closing earlier than the pool at 6pm. The food here was very good!!

Amenities, hospitality and services were amazing! Hector at the pool bar was friendly and great at making drinks! Food was very good and well worth the all inclusive price. The pool was well laid out, with lots of chairs for all guest and no need to scramble if you get a late start to your day. Definitely coming back here in the future!

We booked through Expedia, but the price were comparable. We booked a 1 bedroom suite, which was huge! Over 1200 sqft, with 2 bathrooms, and a stunning view of the bay. Every room has a view of the water. The resort was nicely quiet, with some intermittent construction noises, which for the most part were minimal, but occasionally some hammering noises were loud. It did not deter our party from enjoying the relaxing nature of the resort. It was completely uncrowded, always room at the restaurants, always room at the pool, always room at the bar, and while the beach area is a little smaller than other resorts, it was still beautiful. Mario, the pool and towel attendant was helpful and charming. The pool server Jonathan was attentive and expedient. The hotel was well cared for, and the grounds were well kept. This is NOT a party resort. Every once in a while the noises bled over from nearby resorts, but it was not an issue. If you are focusing on the construction, or the music from nearby resorts, you got bigger issues. The food was solidly good, not spectacular, but good, which says a lot for quality compared to other resorts. The drinks were good as well, though the pool bar closes at 5, it would be a good idea for the resort to keep the pool servers for a few more hours to help facilitate drink service, rather than having to leave the pool and go to the bar, though thats not a complaint, merely a service suggestion. Overall we thoroughly enjoyed this resort, for its small intimacy, but also it's quality. We had a group of 40 with 14 rooms. The resort has 70 rooms right now. The construction is due to them adding a second tower, which I've heard they are planning on connecting this resort to the neighboring resort, hopefully extending amenities, as doubling the size of Sunset Plaza, without doubling the amenities could make this place crowded quickly. Overall, we would recommend this place to anyone seeking a relaxing, quiet(mostly), intimate resort, without all the chaos of the larger resorts. Also liked that even though it was a smaller resort, the bar stayed open past 12, and that it was fairly close to most everything in town. We seemed to be 15min from most places.

Service was impeccable. 11/10 Everyone made us feel like royalty. They all went the extra mile to make our experience special. Special shout-out to Alfredo- worked the front desk and concierge most days and any time we had a request, he went above and beyond to fill it. Marina- she was in charge of booking activities with partnering companies. As a promotion for taking the timeshare presentation, we were able to get our horseback riding tickets half off, 20% off of massages at the resort, and a free PVR tour. She only earns commission if you end up buying the time share, so If you don’t end up buying, I suggest tipping her after you do the activities. The presentation ended up being longer than expected. It was supposed to be 1 1/2 hours but ended up being around 3 hours. However, they didn’t pressure us to buy into the vacation club or make us feel bad, but it was a convincing presentation. The waiters: Daniel, José and a few of the other waiters/bartenders, work like crazy to meet your needs at all hours of the day. One of the nights I really wanted ice cream but it wasn’t on the menu. I requested churros with vanilla ice cream, and they had no problem fulfilling the request. In addition, when I had special alcohol requests, they made sure to fulfill them. Make sure to try the aged tequila and mezcal- they will take it out of their special stash if you ask them. If you tip the maids well, they will come back later in the afternoon to make your bed a second time. We didn’t ask them to do this, but we’re pleased to find that they went out of their way to pamper us. The spa: highly recommend booking a massage treatment at their spa. We did the zenset massage special as a couple. The massage therapists were very professional and there was never an awkward moment. The resort is more for young-ish families. We didn’t see many couples our age (late 20s/early 30s) but saw a decent amount of families and older adults. It’s not a party resort, but is not too quiet either. We liked this aspect, as we were able to enjoy music throughout the day but get sleep when we wanted. The location is also nice as it is about half way between the airport and downtown Puerto Vallarta. They are doing construction on one side of the resort since they are expanding. They start about 9:30 and end later in the afternoon. The noise did not interfere with our enjoyment of the resort, however, the noise might increase as they work to finish for soft openings later this year. The food: I would say the food was a 3.5/5. While the waiters and waitresses went above and beyond to fulfill our requests, the food was mediocre. The presentations were beautiful but in terms of taste, the garnishes did not go well with the main dishes. One of the main things I’ve been taught in cooking is to make sure every garnish has its place and function. If it doesn’t go with the dish, then it’s better not to have it. I also think they use budget liquors in certain drinks that have a fake sugar taste which I was not a fan of. However, if you ask for strong drinks, you won’t get as much of the fake sugar taste. I think out of all of the restaurants, I enjoyed mirador. While Luciano was nice, the food didn’t feel any more special than the main restaurant. The 24/7 café, la fresco, could use some improvement. While the setting is nice, the food could be better. I wished they had better choices for the desserts. They looked pretty, but the flavors were lacking. I wanted authentic pan dolce but their offerings seemed like they came from an American vendor. The room service was also lacking. Our food arrived cold. I think if they kept the same menu but upgraded the quality, the food would be a lot better. Recommended food: churros at mirador and la fresco and beef on Mediterranean night at Luciano. Summary: all in all we had a great experience. I would take these notes with a grain of salt as they are renovating and plan to make a lot of changes in the coming months/years. For all I know, they may plan to make improvements in the areas I’ve mentioned so don’t let this review keep you from coming in the future. I can’t wait to visit when they have their renovations complete!
