I hosted my 50th birthday at Villa Verano, booked sight unseen. The outstanding service started with the concierge, Leonore, who took me through a virtual tour of the property so I could understand the layout, where to set things up, etc. It was incredibly helpful and put my mind at ease, but I needn't have worried as the setup, rooms, staff, food - everything was wonderful and clearly well thought-out. Here are the details: - There are 22 rooms spread out over five villas that go up a hillside. The main villa is at the top and includes the large pool, outdoor bar (we practically lived here), kitchen and main dining area, and large outdoor patios overlooking the beach. The patios are covered, so no worry if it rains. We had ordered a tent to eat outside, but ended up not using it - and didn't miss it at all. There was plenty of room for 45 guests in the main area to host formal sit-down dinners, toasts, dancing, etc. - There is no AC in the main living area, but it is open and there are lots of fans. It was HOT out (July in Mexico, go figure) but the fans and ocean breezes made it more than manageable (plus there is an air-conditioned library with a pool table right off the main area if you need to cool off). Most importantly, there is AC in all of the bedrooms! - Most of the room are attached to the main villa. The smaller villas have between 1-4 rooms and each villa has it's own infinity plunge pool and kitchen. There is not a bad room anywhere, but some of the 'jungle' rooms in the main villa are quieter, darker and accessible via a small spiral staircase. We put the 20-somethings there LOL. The lower villas are almost right on the beach. The entire place is at the end of the beach, so there is no through traffic going past. - The beach is RIGHT THERE! You can walk to beach bars and activities within minutes. There is even an elevator to take your lazy butt back to the main villa if you don't feel like taking the stairs. There is also a gym for the not-so-lazy. - The entire property is magic! Fountains, plants, birds, views, quiet, sunsets ... really the whole package. The beach can be noisy, but with the doors closed and the AC on, the bedrooms were quiet. It also feels very private, given the surrounding jungle and hillside layout. - The food was outstanding (the fish tacos ... to die for ...). My niece and nephew are gluten intolerant, and although I noted it and directed the staff to simply leave certain items off the menu, they got GF flour so the kids could have waffles. Little touches like that made a huge difference. - The best part - and as both the hostess and a veteran of the service industry - is the STAFF. I cannot say enough about them! The housekeeping staff were like ghosts, I never saw them but all of a sudden my room had been turned over. The housemen/bartenders/jacks of all trades were just that: none of my guests carried a bag, or waited for a drink, or were served the wrong meal - plus they were all kind and fun, to boot. I have to give a shout out to my man Jose, the manager who magically appeared only when I needed something. He and Lalo ran the show. I felt like Batman with Alfred Pennyworth looking after me ... only in shorts and a tropical shirt. In short, Villa Verano is outstanding. I can't lie, it was a big event for me and I was almost prepared for something to go wrong. Nothing did! Highly recommend!!! Credit to undergroundstudio.pv for the pics!…
