This is our 4th visit to Casa Velas and our 2nd this year. We traveled with different sets of friends each trip. All of our friends that traveled with us feel the same about Casa Velas. It is such a wonderful experience. The facilities are beautiful and our rooms have all been lovely and we actually use the plunge pool in the evenings and mornings. The Tau Beach club is gorgeous and the service is on point. You must have dinner there at least once during your visit. We just loved the views and sunset. Casa Velas staff is what really makes the stay wonderful. They learn who you are and what you like. They know your name and remember what you have ordered. A few that stood out this trip were Jesus, Daniel, Gerardo at the pool bar and Emiliano’s. Ricardo, concierge, went out of his way to order a flower arrangement for our friends to celebrate. Veronica was always so helpful and friendly. We will visit again in the near future.

We selected Casa Velas solely from the photos we saw on their website and the various reviews we read on line. But no way did we expect what we experienced during our stay. Beautiful grounds, classic architecture and the most amazing service we have ever received anywhere. The friendly, helpful and extremely talented staff will be the longest lasting takeaway from the trip for us. We were only in Casa Velas for six days, but came home totally relaxed and reenergized! We’ll definitely return to Casa Velas, and very soon!

It was our great pleasure, Bruce, to provide you with the ultimate rest and relaxation here in your newly found oasis in Puerto Vallarta. You are correct in saying that pictures alone cannot describe the refinement and tranquility of Casa Velas. What the photos cannot show is the freshness of the breeze, the sounds of the birds, the taste and aroma of our chef's creations, and of course, the elegance and tact of my staff as they cater to your needs and desires. And the true beneficiaries of all this magic are your senses as they absorb all the charm and luxury along every step of the vacation journey. Bruce, we look forward to your next six-day getaway at Casa Velas, where we can, once again, inspire your senses and send you back home "totally relaxed and reenergized." As always, sir, we place ourselves at your service, GERALDINE ZARAGOZA HOTEL MANAGER CASA VELAS

My husband and I made our second trip to Casa Velas in May 2021, and stayed in a Wellness Suite. We had a very good time, but while I want to be able to give it five stars, it just did not quite reach that level this time around is mainly related to the quality of the food and the limited options. But let me start with what was truly excellent: The staff are outstanding. They are lovely, kind, and will do everything they can to help you have a great vacation. In the spa, we had really wonderful treatments by Adriana and Yolanda—they are top-notch at massages and reflexology. At Emiliano, we had fantastic service at dinner from Rocio and at breakfast, from Janet and Elena. At the Tau Beach Club, everyone is wonderful, but Enrique and Benny truly stand out for excellent service. We also felt incredibly safe because of the COVID precautions. First off, nearly all the time we spent in public spaces was outdoors (tables at Emiliano, obviously tables at Tau). There aren’t indoor corridors to get from your room to the lobby (which was inside, but staff were masked with face shields and work behind plexiglass). Every staff person was masked at all times. And it’s a very small resort, so there’s plenty of space between loungers and Bali beds at both the main pool at Casa Velas and at the Beach Club. It all helped us feel the most normal that we had felt in well over a year, and for that I am truly grateful. Also, it was so helpful to have the COVID testing done on-site—the concierge made the reservation for it without us even having to ask, and it took just a few minutes to complete. The results were in our email inbox the following morning (day before our flight) so we could relax and enjoy our last full day of vacation. The facilities—grounds, pools, loungers/Bali beds, as well as our room—are kept very clean. Speaking of our room, the Wellness Suite is two levels (bedroom and full bath upstairs, living and dining space plus a half bath downstairs) and was wonderful. Very comfy bed and the maid service kept everything spotless. I had wondered how I’d feel about the exercise bike being in the bedroom of the Wellness Suite, but my husband used it three times so it was great to have it. The outdoor hot tub on the second floor was also fun to get into, along with the dipping pool on the ground floor. Also, the grounds at Casa Velas are just beautiful, with towering palms and lovely flowering bushes. It’s just a very peaceful place for a vacation because it is small (88 rooms, probably only 30% of them occupied while we were there) and the people who stay there are looking to relax. But the reason that I cannot give it five stars this time around is because of the food situation. In January 2020, we visited Casa Velas and the food was AMAZING. On that first visit, there were a lot of choices at both Emiliano and the Beach Club, plus Emiliano had incredible theme nights where the chef offered a five course meal (or you could still order from the regular menu). I completely understand that these theme nights are not feasible given the limited number of guests. And I can see why it’s necessary to cut back on the number of entrees at lunch and dinner to some degree. But it’s gone too far: At Emiliano, the lunch & dinner menus are the same, and there are five entrees, I believe. At dinner, there was one entrée special each night. It just was not enough variety for a one week stay. Even if there had been two entrée specials each night, that would have made a big difference and made things much less monotonous. We also had some trouble with food being very over-salted, and we both ended up with stomach troubles at the midpoint of the week (and since we did not have any food outside the resort, I’m afraid the source had to be either Emiliano or Tau Beach Club). These things just didn’t happen during our first visit. I’ve shared this with Casa Velas via their survey and did get a nice response from the General Manager. I hope the food situation improves because there are so many things to love about Casa Velas. Other changes just to be aware if you’ve been to Casa Velas in the past: There are no daily activities (again, totally understandable because of COVID) but the gym is still open. The hydrotherapy amenities at the spa are not open (these used to be included with your massage service)—again, totally understandable. There were some nights at Emiliano with a guitarist (who was quite good), but not the variety in types of music that they had last time. Hopefully when the pandemic is over, all those things will be back. Oh, and Emiliano has shifted to a casual dress code (which is fine) instead of requiring long pants for men. Also, do be sure to read the fine print of your reservation. Our week at Casa Velas included access to a restaurant at Grand Velas in Nuevo Vallarta for dinner one night. We went to Piaf which was really delicious. Casa Velas provides a shuttle out there, but you will need to take a taxi home (about 220 pesos). Piaf was definitely worth the trip, and I’m so glad we went. But I would not have known this if I hadn’t seen it on the reservation confirmation (it was not mentioned it at check-in). Also, the Wellness Suite comes with one 50-minute massage per person which it clearly says on their website, but it was not mentioned at check-in. I was glad I knew about it so that I could point it out when we made our reservation for Spa services. Overall, we still love Casa Velas, and I know that we’ll go back at some point. We will probably wait until 2022 in hopes that they can get back to having more guests and then will be able to bring back some of the things that we loved so much from our first visit. But I am still very grateful that we were able to go this year, even with some of the hiccups with the food.

Thank you for sharing with us your in-depth comments and perceptions on this, your second visit to Casa Velas Boutique Resort. As the hotel director, I keep a very close watch on our guest's feedback, whether by electronic survey, online reviews, or in person. That invaluable information has contributed greatly to our plans as we continue forward and which has comfortably placed us where we are now near the top of the list of Mexican All-Inclusives as voted on by thousands of travelers. Another positive aspect of the many you listed is a surge in traveler interest in Casa Velas. And that is a tremendous sign that we are moving ever closer to normality. Thank you again for bringing your concerns to my attention. I apologize for not reaching your expectations during this visit. You can be assured that as we move forward, your comments will make us a better hotel. Until next time, I place myself at your service for all your future vacation needs. Take care, GERALDINE ZARAGOZA HOTEL MANAGER CASA VELAS

First, the positives: beautiful (gorgeous) pool and grounds; super quiet (almost too quiet); not a lot going on and very few visitors; our room was nice especially the marble bathroom; most of the staff was very nice and tried their best; we were allowed to dine at their sister hotel, the Grand Velas for one dinner (we did and the French restaurant there was great; unfortunately it's located 20 minutes away from Casa Velas by taxi and we had to provide our own transportation both ways). Negatives: The food! The food is not good. It's definitely not what you expect from an accommodation with this price tag - $600 / night. It's nothing special. Many of our fellow travelers opted to go and pay (again) at other restaurants in town rather than dine again at Casa Velas. It's an all-inclusive, eating is a big deal!. The drinks were definitely not from top-shelf liquors. The menu is extremely limited. My wife got sick during out stay there. We are not a 100% sure why and the cause might have been from a source outside of the hotel but one wonders. It's been hard for Casa Velas and every hotel in PV and all over the world this past year +. While we understand that, we did pay top dollar and this is definitely not a place that we would want to come for a special occasion. Thus, the purpose of this review. We hope it helps you.

Stayed here recently and really loved it! The service is impeccable- Brenda, the activities coordinator, found us a number of fun adventures, including a trip to Sayulita, and she even accompanied us for the entire day and translated. She was so friendly and kind to us. The food and drinks at the resort and Tau beach club were also wonderful. The property is beautiful and clean, and very quiet. We had breakfast on our porch every morning to the sound of wild birds. Thank you Casa Velas for a wonderful vacation!
