Casa Velas earns rave reviews for its tranquil location, with guests frequently praising its close proximity to activities and picturesque scenery. Cleanliness at the hotel is consistently lauded, with travelers noting spotless rooms and well-kept grounds. Service at Casa Velas is often described as exceptional, with staff delivering personalized attention, although a few guests have noted occasional lapses. While the rooms are celebrated for their comfort and cleanliness, some reviewers suggest they could benefit from modernization. The serene atmosphere is a highlight for many, further enriched by live music and the hotel's attentive service. Amenities, including the praised Tau Beach Club and dining options, are popular among guests, contributing to the hotel's appeal. However, despite high-quality food and premium drinks, some travelers' experiences have impacted their overall perception of value.

My husband and I have been traveling to Mexico for at least 15 years, and I can confidently say that Casa Velas is our absolute favorite resort of all time. Many resorts are overwhelmingly large, making everything annoyingly far away and often packed with too many people, but Casa Velas is a smaller boutique hotel that feels more personal and comfortable. The rooms are just a few minutes’ walk to the pool and the restaurant, and the beach club at their sister property, Tau, is just a 5-minute shuttle ride away. As for the food, we enjoyed Tau best for dinner each night, but Emiliano and the pool bar were excellent for breakfast and lunch each day. Anywhere you go you’ll get beautifully plated, delicious, a la carte food instead of cold, stale buffet food, and premium alcohol with fresh pressed juices instead of bottled mixes. and happy to accommodate any dietary restriction or menu substitutions you might request. To be honest, the menus are actually more like a list of suggestions because they are so willing to create custom dishes and drinks for you! Room service is also part of the all-inclusive package, and that food arrives piping hot in a timely manner.

Our suite was amply sized and meticulously maintained by housekeeping throughout our stay. My only note for other travelers is that if you want the room to get and stay cold, it’s best to keep the blackout curtains and the door to the bathroom closed so that the AC can actually reach the coldest temperature.

The absolute highlight of our stay, however was the service. Everywhere we went, the servers were incredible—warm, welcoming, and extremely attentive. Some of the (many) standouts include Avalos and Jesus at Emiliano, the dinner team at Tau (Enrique, Antonio, Rigo, and Ramón), and the Aqua Bar team (Ulises, Juan, and Ramón). We pretty much spent the majority of our stay at the Aqua Bar, and they made our vacation unforgettable with their positive, personable demeanor, shared laughs, and excellent drinks and service. We have long said that no other country in the world can hold a candle to Mexican customer service and hospitality, and the team at Casa Velas really embodies that sentiment. We can’t wait to go back!

For our first time in PV - we chose an all-inclusive away from the hustle and bustle of downtown PV. I loved our location - so close to the airport in a residential area by the Marina. So close to walk between the CV and Velas Vallarta and Tau BC. You can take a shuttle, but a nice walk between them. Yet only a cab ride to either downtown PV or the 2 golf courses in the mountains.

Staff-wise - CV was fabulous - very accomodating and nice. Very friendly.

Room-wise - large room / bathroom. Bathroom could use a bit of a remodel / sprucing up, however. I also wish there were more drawers for clothes vs just the closet to hang things. Also wish there were more convenient plugs in the room. Always a need to charge devices and each plug was behind a bed / table and was hard to get to.

Food-wise - I was very impressed by all the restaurants. Nice controlled portions but you can always order more. Our best dinner was Emiliano during the Monday night fire show. We also loved La Ribera for its comfortable breakfast/lunch. Watching the sunset during dinner at Tau was also spectacular.

2 cons during our stay:
* Pool - This was my pet peeve and really want me to drop a star on my review. The resort should NOT allow people to put a bag on a pool chair at 9 am and then not use it until noon. We would come to the pool after lunch each day and it was an ordeal to find a seat. Not only these "fake" reservations - but also not enough chairs set out. There is plenty of room in the pool area for more chairs - why don't they set more up during the morning? Why do I need to circle pool area twice to find something? Too many large cabanas set up and not enough regular loungers.

* Activity calendar. I thought there were differenet activities you can partake in at either CV or Velas Vallarta - but yet no signage or emails about them. Why not promote this to your guests? It was an off chance that we saw the Fire Show on Monday night and heard the singers at CV during the nightly performance.

Overall - loved our stay but the pool pet peeve did irk me each day. I want to be relaxed but knowing I "might" not have a pool chair was frustrating each day. On the other hand - great food/staff/location.

Spent five nights at Casa Velas with friends and was very impressed by the level of service. This place likely caters to an older crowd, as it is known for being an oasis of relaxation. It is adults-only and has a chill vibe. Since it’s not a big hotel, you won’t have to wake up extra early to secure a spot at the beach.

Casa Velas is all-inclusive, but none of the meals are buffets, which makes for a more upscale experience with higher-quality food. Many of the guests were repeat visitors, with some staying for two weeks or more.

The hotel itself is beautiful, but for me, the biggest draw was the attentiveness of the staff. Everyone we encountered went above and beyond to ensure that every detail was taken care of. They paid attention to our preferences and personalized our experience in remarkable ways. They suggested menu items and were quick to bring whatever we requested.

At dinner, Rodolfo stood out with his flawless service and impressive talent for making the boozy flambéed coffee. His menu suggestions were spot-on as well! At the beach, Carlos was a tireless worker who anticipated our every need. After the first day, he had everything set up and ready to go, knew all of our preferences, and continually went above and beyond. Erick and the entire team at Tao Beach Club were also fantastic. On our last night, they decorated our table with a beautiful flower arrangement and surprised us with a dessert plate thanking us for visiting.

Ávalos and the breakfast staff were wonderful—some of the kindest and most hardworking people you could imagine. We spent a lot of time at the pool, where Juan, Ramón, and Ulises took excellent care of us.

I also used the gym and found it well-equipped. On one occasion, it had already closed for the day (after 5 PM), but they graciously opened it for me.

The spa was great! I had a 50-minute Harmony massage with Lourdes, who was not only an amazing masseuse but also incredibly sweet and attentive.

Our room was meticulously cleaned every day and we found little souvenirs every night which were so appreciated.

At Casa Velas, you will be pampered to the extreme. Highly recommend it!

Casa Velas is a special place. Often when you go on vacation you think of the things that you did, and what you got to see. This trip to Puerto Vallarta we went whale watching, and had a great time, and were entertained at Rhythms of the Night, a great show and experience. But what really set this vacation apart was Casa Velas. From the moment you walk in you are treated like royalty or family, and it continues throughout your stay until you are in your ride back to the airport.

What makes this resort special are the people, they quickly make it known that they are there to make your stay special. When we checked in we were guided to comfortable chairs for the check-in process, offered something to drink and were treated to warm washcloth and a brief shoulder massage. The lobby is peaceful and beautiful, as is the rest of the facility and the guestrooms. This is not a new resort, but it is immaculately maintained and cleaned. At the pool you are cared for by Ulises, Gerardo, and Ramon, who make your day at the pool exceptional, and comfortable. Even when busy, they take the time to make a connection with each guest. I can easily say this has been our best pool experience of any resort. Note: this is not a party resort, this is an adults only, laid back, relaxing resort. No loud music or parties here, however, there was a good range of adult ages, so this is not just for the retirement scene.

Emilianos and the Tau Beach Club offer great dining options, with live music and dance performances that are creative, and well done by fabulous performers. The dance duo were amazing, and performed a variety of dance performances, one with fire that is not to be missed! The vocalist duet at the Tau Beach Club were also very talented and performed a great range of popular music. The guitar duo, and saxophonist created a great atmosphere, and the music in the lounging area was top notch, playing a requested song effortlessly!

Getting back to the "people" that make this place special. In addition to those listed above, these individuals were also amazing, Avalos, Juan, Fatima, Oswaldo, Rocio, Flores were incredible at Emiliano's. Making every meal special. Denise the concierge was so kind and helpful, even asking how we enjoyed our outings, calling and arranging rides. Reina, our housekeeper was always making sure we had what we need in our rooms and straightening everything up. Even placing a rose in a bottle of water! The turn down service was also wonderful and always made getting to bed a pleasure.

We did get to enjoy the Abja Spa, and Victoria and Susanna took great care of us, a truly wonderful, peaceful, and relaxing experience. At the Tau Beach Club, Rigo, Erick, and Ramon were exceptional, and the beach club is a special place to enjoy the beach, the pool, or a beautiful sunset dinner. It is is only a few minutes by courtesy van and they make sure that you are not waiting for a ride.

The interaction with these employees and several more ( I really wish I could remember each name) is what set this stay apart from any other we have experienced, and we are already planning how we can get back to see them.

Casa Velas is amazing and we had a superb trip. It is not inexpensive but it is extremely good value for money. My husband travelled extensively for work before retirement and I was a senior travel counsellor for 12 years. As you can imagine we’ve visited a fair number of hotels but one afternoon in the glorious pool he said to me, “This hotel is head and shoulders above anywhere we’ve been before’’
It’s so difficult to choose our favourite aspects of Casa Velas but it has to be the staff. They are all and I do mean all, so efficient, competent and friendly. We had especially great service from Daniel, Roscio, and Jesus at Emiliano’s while Ulises, Ramon and Juan made sure everyone around the pool had everything they needed. Also the gentleman who ran the terrace bar in the evening, so sorry I missed your name , knew what we liked. Bringing round two bottles of water in ice buckets around 9.30 was a lovely touch and after that drinks were plentiful. The food is terrific, excellent quality and expertly prepared, each meal was a treat. One day we visited the Tau Beach Club and transportation was swift and helpful. We enjoyed it but preferred the pool because as I now have mobility issues calmer water suits me better. ( Incidentally, if you do have mobility issues this resort is quite easy to navigate.) The pool is huge and a perfect temperature. Many hotel pools we have tried are far too cold but not this one, no need to inch in with clenched teeth! Masses of Bali beds and chaise longues and more towels than I have ever seen at any resort. No need to ‘bag’ a seat in the early hours, plenty for everyone to enjoy. Several mornings two guitarists played at breakfast for a couple of hours and afterwards. While my husband went for a walk I enjoyed the music and watched frigate birds soaring overhead. The quality of the evening entertainment was excellent too. Normally we avoid entertainment in hotels as it’s just not for us but it was quite different at CV. A delightful violinist played for two nights and we also thoroughly enjoyed the fire dancers, the guitar duos and an amazing acrobat with a large wheel like a giant hula hoop. It was all so professional and competent.
So, in conclusion if you enjoy excellent food, supremely good service and a calm tranquil environment you will enjoy this beautiful resort as much as we did.

We just returned home to Canada after two wonderful weeks at Casa Velas. We just can’t say enough about how well this resort is run. From the beautiful flower filled grounds to the artistically presented food to the quiet peacefulness of the poolside, attention to detail is everywhere.
In the evenings and many mornings there is entertainment while you enjoy your meals.
There are a number of shining stars working at this resort! Huge shout out to Ulises and Fatima, who are just a couple of gems. Juan & Ramon at the pool side were amazing as well and I just loved the way the staff remembers your name, it makes you feel like you’re part of a family.
If you’re looking for a quiet, peaceful getaway to a beautifully styled resort, this is it.
It’s a small boutique style place so you don’t feel like you have to rush for a cabana or lounge chair at the pool or to find a table for breakfast lunch or dinner.
The readily available short shuttle bus drive to and from the Tau Beach club, (which is part of this resort) is easy to access at the front entrance lobby. The Tau Beach Club provides an additional option for dining.
The club has a pool and access to a private beach which has very comfortable cabanas and excellent food and drinks service. They make delicious drinks with quality ingredients.
Carlos is a delightful, cheerful fellow, we enjoyed his humour immensely.
The resort has lots of very pretty birds in the surrounding trees and a nice quiet botanical garden to enjoy a little walk in a peaceful area on the premises.
The resort supplies products by L’occitane which is a nice touch.
There’s beach tote bags provided in each room and comfy pure cotton bathrobes & slippers.
Throughout the resort you’ll find good books, games, cards and even floating backgammon boards!
Thank-you to all the wonderful people working here who made all the difference!
The concierges, especially Sarahi were very helpful with all our requests & can make change for you in Mexican Pesos or US dollars.
Maria & Guadalupe were so great at keeping our gorgeous room spotless and turning down our bed every evening. So sweet.
We will definitely be back!

I was looking for a holiday where I would be able to rest and recharge, something quiet and tranquil. This was the best choice from what I found online at the time of my travel.

The strength of this resort is the staff's care, and attention to getting to know their guests - like many of the reviews echo.

This is a good place to vacation if you are looking for something quiet, and tranquil.

Personal Experience / Care:
- I completed a short survey early on my in my trip, and I had an immediate response which resulted in my room being upgraded, an amazing response based on what I brought up.

- The staff get to know your name, and personal tastes, and will be able to stay ahead of what you like and dislike.

- I had a birthday cake as a surprise in my room on the day of my birthday, very pleasant to have that!

- When I was departing I was also given a special dessert thanking me for my stay and wishing me all the best, again very nice to have that done, and that attention to detail and care.

- I had a sweater to launder during my stay which was no charged for the service, I accidentally smeared my sleeve in a welcome treat left on a table when opening a booklet about the hotel info, again very nice that this was just taken care of at the end of the day.

What I Liked:
- Staff care a lot, and provide attention to detail to their guests.

- Great beds, very comfortable, very quiet and tranquil space.

- Great destination for recharging, reading, and generally lounging.

- Amenities in the rooms are good, and everything that you may need is really there, or just ask and it can be provided.

- Some rooms offer a plunge in the backyard area, this is nice if you want to do a cold plunge (that's what I wanted it for) you can call the room service to bring ice if you'd like to cool the plunges down further.

- Large and modern bathrooms, and some offer Jacuzzi which is excellent for relaxing.

- The room service is very fast, and prompt from ordering to receiving the order.

Small Comments:
- Having a bit more of an orientation of the grounds could be a an idea, not really necessary - my vacation rep was MIA (Air Canada) and so I missed out on what they could have shared or showed on the grounds, not really a fault of the hotel. My overall point is this - travellers arrive tired often, and guiding them forward from that point of contact is a good idea. Again, any guest can ask and the staff will happily help too. Just small observation.

- Maybe providing a net nearby to scoop out the foliage debris that goes into the plunges could be a good idea.

- The food is good, sometimes excellent depending on what is being ordered. I have a limited amount of what I can eat as I'm pescetarian, so I can't comment for everything. The pasta and the sauces for the pastas could be improved would be my only criteria.

Good For:
To summarize, if you're looking for a quiet retreat for golfing, reading, and eating in a tranquil environment this is the spot for you. I wanted to just lie low, and recharge, and this resort met those checkmarks perfectly.

I would return, and recommend to friends based on their preferences.

Casa Velas is an experience you have to do for yourself. Honestly.
It’s literally a secret oasis.
Every time we visit, I can feel the stress fading as the wrought iron gates open and we come up the driveway.
Perched in the middle of a golf course about 7 minutes from the PV airport, the staff take great pride in making sure it’s peace, calm and serenity from the moment you set foot in the door.
The property is small - about 80 rooms and adults only.
The pool is quite large so you don’t feel crowded or have other guests sitting very close. There is also an option to visit the beach club if you care for a change of scenery or want to get lost in the sound of the waves.
The property is impeccable. The grounds are meticulously groomed and the building does not show its age - despite the fact it’s been around for a long time.
With the respect the suites. They are roomy, tastefully decorated and comfortable. The beds are amazing. We are seasoned travellers to Puerto Vallarta and have yet to find suites or beds that compare.
The food is very good and there are options. Each night the chef runs a special to provide guests with variety. In addition, visitors can attend the other properties to keep it interesting. I didn’t have a bad meal.
The Casa Velas team is committed to making your stay enjoyable.

Came to the hotel for accommodations at a nearby wedding we were attending.

The grounds were lush, restaurant service was great, rooms were a little dated, but ok. Solid 4 out 5 star resort on the surface.

On the first night, they only had a double queen room available, despite requesting a king. Not a huge deal, and they moved rooms the next day.

We came for a wedding, and the hotel has an offsite private beach club just a 5 minute shuttle away. We were assured the shuttle ran every 5 minutes between the beach club and hotel, and we planned accordingly to get ready to attend the wedding… or so we thought. Despite asking / requesting the return shuttle thinking it’d be 5 minutes away,… we ended up waiting 25+ minutes for the shuttle, inquiring multiple times, and were absolutely rushed to get ready for the wedding. A stressful situation.

The absolute worst experience was the speed of the pool service. I arrived at the pool at 2pm. Someone didn’t even bring a menu until 2:40pm. No one came back until 3:20pm to take the order. Then at 4:15pm the food (simple ceviche) showed up, along with a drink. A 2+ hour wait for ceviche and a mediocre margarita is ridiculous given the price point for “all inclusive.”

Also, the clientele are incredibly rude with the “first come, first serve” cabanas. Everyone gets up at the crack of dawn and puts personal belongings on the cabanas before going about their day. They then return to the cabanas they “claimed” at 6am. So most of the seating is “unavailable” for a large chunk of the day until the rude guests get around to changing in their swimsuits and meandering down to their cabanas they “claimed” 8+ hours ago. Ridiculous.

The “all inclusive” option was ok, except every little thing you ordered required a receipt for you to sign… basically it was non-stop tipping. It would have been much, much better to just tip on the final, tallied food bill at the end rather than constantly requesting — and then waiting around — for the “check” to come, which was just a $0 bill and a line to bill a tip to the room. Kinda tacky and time consuming.

Overall, 2 stars. I really expected better service — especially at the pool — for this resort.

Allan, our sincerest apologies go out to you for not providing you with the 5-Star vacation experience that we are renowned for. Your comments and observations on our service are quite alarming as that area is consistently one of our strong suits. But you can be assured that I have already reconfigured our pool staffing so that no guest will be left unattended for any unreasonable period. The same goes for our shuttle service. I will employ both of our vans to circulate through Casa Velas, Tau Beach Club, and our sister resort Velas Vallarta, allowing guests who are in a rush to have the ability to plan their travel and preparation times accordingly. Again, my apologies for not meeting and exceeding your expectations. I hope you can return one day and live the true Casa Velas Guest Experience. Until then, sir, we remain at your faithful service for all your future needs and requirements. Thank you, MIGUEL PEREGRINA HOTEL MANAGER CASA VELAS

We would go back. It was a very enjoyable 8 days in a beautiful and pampered setting. Special thanks to Juan, Jerry, Jesus, Daniel, Ramon, Alfredo, Jerry and Fatima. They helped made our stay so relaxed and enjoyable. Our suite was lovely and spacious and the housekeeping staff superb. Everywhere was spotless, and we really appreciate that. Bed and pillows were great. The bathroom was spacious and kept spotless by housekeeping.

The pool was heated nicely, had places to sit and lounge in the water as well as a deeper part that was probably 4-4 1/2feet. The grounds were so beautiful and relaxing. If you are staying there, don't feel badly about leaving your stuff on a set of poolside chairs before breakfast. We were told that people can pay to come for the day and it got quite busy some days. We felt we were entitled to mark a spot because we were staying for 8 days. That said, they will try to accommodate you if you're late.

The presentation of the food at Emiliano's was beautiful. We especially enjoyed the beef tenderloin, but were very disappointed in the ribeye steak. The special menus were a very nice addition. There were special touches given at meal times and accommodations, when requested, were attended to. Music at dinner and in the evenings was wonderful. We wished Emiliano's breakfast service was a bit faster, we would rather be at the pool. We felt we had to plan for 2 hour breakfasts. The french toast is amazing. I had it every day with a requested scrambled egg and crisp bacon on the side. Lunches were best at the pool. So relaxed, good food and drinks.

Tau was beautiful and the shuttle quick and comfy. It was good to have more choices for meals, and of course the beach and sunsets. One of the two times we had dinner there, we were not given a menu for a half hour, and then waited another half hour between plate clearing and a dessert request. Both times, they admitted to forgetting. We left without dessert and disappointed in the service which was generally slow, both times. While the food was good (An exception was the lobster, which was tough and tasteless.), the four choices we made were not better than Emiliano's.
