We stayed at the sister property called Casa Velas but our tours went thru the great folks at Velas Vallarta. Brenda was so fun to work with, and she made sure we were taken care of every step of the way! The Velas properties are all spectacular and I highly recommend them.

Velas Vallarta made my destination dream wedding come true!! Nubia was my wedding coordinator throughout the entire process and I can’t say enough good things about her. From phone calls to emails, any questions or concerns I had, Nubia was always quick to respond and made planning a wedding from the states easy. I simply submitted my Pinterest ideas to Nubia and she brought it all to life. Nubia coordinated with other vendors for everything from floral, lighting/DJ, hair and makeup, photography, and even a violinist to play during our ceremony. Once I arrived to Velas, Nubia set up an in person meeting with each of the vendors for me to personally explain my wants for the big day. Every person I met with was extremely kind and professional. We used the Styling Trio for hair and makeup. Due to time constraints, I wasn’t able to book a trial. But on wedding day, the trio showed up exactly on time, looked at pictures of what me and the rest of the bridal party wanted, and did the most amazing job! All of our makeup lasted all night and even with some wind and humidity, our hair lasted too!!! We worked with Dream Art Photography and Gabriel was our photographer. Gabriel was the nicest guy!!!!! I explained to Gabriel during our meeting that my fiancé and I needed lots of direction when it came to posing and he didn’t let us down. We’re so happy with how our photos turned out, especially the ones taken during sunset on the beach. Velas offered a bridal suite for our wedding party to get ready in. The suite was located right in front of the garden and jetty so I (the bride) could be kept concealed until it was time to walk down the aisle. The entire layout of our jetty ceremony and beach reception was absolutely perfect. If you’re wanting a Puerto Vallarta wedding.. Do yourself a favor and have it at Velas!!

Response from Luis Angarita, Director General at Velas Vallarta
Responded May 10, 2021
Firstly, Linee, on behalf of the management and staff of Velas Vallarta, I congratulate you and your husband on your stunning wedding and for allowing the hotel to be a part of your loving event. As the director, I thank you very much for entrusting Velas Vallarta to make your wedding day one that will live forever in your memory. A destination wedding on a tropical beach has to be the most romantic wish that a girl could dream of. And with open communication and quick replies, you and Nubia both brought your vision of wedded bliss to life. Besides being a gracious person, Nubia is a detailed-orientated perfectionist who possesses a gift for envisioning the bride-to-be's plans right from the early stages and making them a reality. And allow me to say that several other guests I have spoken to mentioned that your wedding was one of the most beautiful events they have ever witnessed at a beach resort. Thank you for spreading your love and joy to the world. Your kind words and lovely photo will surely inspire other couples to consider uniting their love here on the shores of Velas Vallarta. As always, we place ourselves at your faithful service for your first anniversary, LUIS ANGARITA DIRECTOR GENERAL VELAS VALLARTA

Travelled as a family of 3 (2 adults and 9 year old) towards the end of August 2022. Upon arrival, front desk staff was great and we were greeted with a refreshing drink while checking in. Bell man service was fantastic as they tracked when we left and returned from the property. That was reassuring. The lovely ladies at concierge was superb. I had been communicating before we arrived and we arrived few things before arrival with prompt email responses and even while being at the resort. Highly recommend the concierge or any questions or interest in private dining, excursions, etc. Very, very helpful! Property: Spa, mini market, kids and adult activities, tennis and basketball courts too. The Aqua Bar in pool was our favorite place to be. The staff at the bar were super friendly. The pool, river to connect the pool was fun. Dining: The property has 2 restaurants one is fine dining. The menu can have more variety, ie. shrimp lobster, veg. The food at times were bland as times but overall okay for an all-inclusive property. Room: We are in tower 2, 7th floor with a fantastic view of the property and bay. The room was overall great except for the pillows. The pillows were too fluffy we ended up using 6 pillows. I would suggest for the property to consider more firm pillows. One hiccup we had was a bat on our balcony. Luckily the screen door was closed otherwise we would be chasing a bat in the room. Scary. Daughter was freaked out. Called front desk and someone came to clear up. The room was cleaned daily and fridge was stocked with soda, water, beer and milk. The snacks were a plus for my daughter. The bathroom was clean and shower pressure was great. Overall, a great all-inclusive property to enjoy the summer. The staff were all masked at all times given COVID is still present. We did a massage and it was very relaxing. Soft hands and great atmosphere. We will consider going back to Velas in the future. Our nine year old really enjoyed the property.

Thank you for selecting Velas Vallarta as the setting for your family's August vacation. We are highly pleased that we could leave you with this great impression of our hotel thanks to the spot-on communication with our concierge team, amazing spa treatments, and the natural beauty of our property, as seen from your glowing photos. That natural aspect also comes with local flora and fauna. Fortunately, bats are never really a nuisance at Velas Vallarta, but it's also wise to have the screen doors closed as there are also beautiful and curious birds that sometimes wish to enter the suites. We look forward to hosting your lovely family again in the future and earning your five-star approval. Until then, we wish you all the best for an excellent Holiday Season. As always, we place ourselves at your service, LUIS ANGARITA DIRECTOR GENERAL VELAS VALLARTA

Tripadvisor was helpful when I was planning my trip, so here’s my attempt to give back. Location: Hotel is located a 10-minute ride from PVR airport and we had no difficulty with our pre-arranged van back and forth from the hotel. Proximity to the airport did mean we saw and heard quite a few airplanes taking off, but it was more entertaining than intrusive. You would notice the sound only when outside the room and hardly louder than a distant thunderclap. Check-in Experience: Good (as in uneventful). I had called a day earlier to check status and there were no surprises at check-in. Front desk was helpful and through. They also exchanged my large peso bills into 20 pesos for easy tipping (this I repeated over the course of several days). The 1-bedroom had two individual beds that housekeeping put together while we were finishing check-in. There was a welcome package with chocolates and champagne (anniversary) which was much appreciated. Room: Our 1-bedroom in Tower A was adequate for 4 people. The pull-out sofa beds were comfortable for 2 kids. Air conditioning worked well as did the Bathroom/Shower/Toilet cleanliness and supplies. The kitchenette has a fridge (stocked with beer, water), stove (didn’t use) and microwave (did use) along with coffee maker and a basketful of snacks. Room service was relatively fast (10 minutes) the several times we tried it. The balcony was large enough to fit a round table and 4 chairs with a distant though clear view of the ocean. Facilities: There is a couple of shops, one is a mini-mart with knick knacks bug spray flip flops etc. and the other one more expensive "Boutique" that carries some clothes also. Both were adequate. The pool is clean and it was easy to get a table and recliners. Getting towels was easy similarly. Staff was excellent to flag down and order food. The swim-up bar was adequate (more on this later). We saw peacocks roaming around. The gym has treadmills, ellipticals, some machines and free weights. It opens a little late at 7AM but is perfectly usable. There are a couple of ATMs (including Santander) at the garage level. Food: Two restaurants, "Andrea" air conditioned and indoors, "La Ribera" abutting the beach, covered but otherwise open. Both are essentially a-la carte but La Ribera also has a buffet breakfast. Getting dinner reservations (even same-day) for Andrea was easy. Andrea’s food and environment was better. Wine selection was good and there was live music. La Ribera was more amenable for an afternoon beer and snack. Service was good and attentive at both locations. One nitpick is the lack of variety at buffet. I would have liked to be enthusiastic about getting breakfast but that didn’t happen. Room service was a great alternative. Alcohol: Alcohol readily available at both restaurants and the swim-up bar. Limited types of beer, but the wine selection was better. Limited whiskey selection, blends but no single malts. Tequila selection was better. My suggestion is to not rely on bartender recommendations and have a few favorite mixes in mind as you approach. However, the bartenders were accommodating and mixed whatever I asked. Service: We used the laundry and room services, both were excellent. The staff was helpful and responsive and was the highlight of the visit. 5-stars to the hotel staff. Beach: Clean although inactive, no buzz beach, maybe it was the off season. Solitary (overpriced) jetski rental. Crocs! Check-out Experience: Again uneventful. Kudos to the hotel manager for kindly letting us stay in the room (late check-out) as we waited for a late afternoon flight. Overall: I would recommend Velas Vallarta for a relaxed family visit. This is not a buzzing high-energy place.

I selected my trip to Velas Vallarta based on reviews so it is only fair I offer mine. (I booked using Costco Travel) The trip was spectacular! Service, food, accommodations, etc were just as dreamed. Here is a breakdown of each factor. Airport: The Puerto Vallarta airport is a tourist trap that can easily confuse a new traveler. When you walk out from customs, there are a million people with drinks and signs. All of them are traps for timeshares and over priced excursions. If that is your thing, go get ‘em. If not, keep moving, quickly. They will tell you they need your confirmation number and will check your info. It’s a lie. Keep moving. The concierge at the hotel will get you the best price for anything. Transportation: Highly recommend adding this to you trip when you book. Gray line is amazing and easily marked when you walk outside. They will tell you to see them the next day to book your transport back. No need. It’s already booked so unless you want another excursion talk, skip it. The day before we left I stopped to make sure our time was booked with them for pick up to the airport and everything was set for perfect time based on our flight. Check in: When you arrive the staff is kind and welcoming. They take your bags, spray them with sanitizer and guide you to the front desk. Easy check in process. Fully explain all the added benefits with your Costco travel and give you the very necessary papers of times, menus, etc. I took a picture of everything with my phone to refer to throughout my stay. They gave us our all inclusive bracelets (all inclusive is not a must but ideal), room keys and towel cards. Accommodations: The room was great. We got the 1 Bedroom Deluxe Suite. This was a free upgrade with Costco travel and an amazing option. The room featured two couches, a full kitchen with full size fridge, dining table for 4 guests, king size bed and spacious closet with safe. There is an adjoining room but it was locked because it was not needed. I believe they offer up to 3 bedroom options. The mattress was a good mix of firm but soft and the living space felt comfortable. The cleanliness was superb. Not a speck of dust or debris. Sheets perfectly white and the surfaces wiped down. There was a notable strong scent of cleaning products/ bleach but these days, that’s for the best. We opened our beautiful patio doors and let the room air out a little. Wonderful views of the pools, a touch of the ocean and the perfectly manicured gardens. Food & Drink: We chose the all inclusive package which feels extremely worth it. Every restaurant, 24hr room service and bar are covered. Room service was spectacular and we enjoyed it every morning but the last. They are so fast and it’s so fresh. The mini bar in the room has sodas, beer and water. Snacks, tea, cereal and milk. It was a nice touch. It is included in the all inclusive. There are two restaurants on property but they change the food for dinner daily. Each night is themed at Andrea’s and it was always delicious. Roberto’s is by the beach and a little less formal. They switch between Steak and Mexican night. All of the restaurants offer breakfast lunch and dinner. There are always options for different dietary restrictions and they are quick to offer other options to accommodate. Pool side menu was great and the staff so spectacular. Pizzas, wings, sandwiches and more. So many options to fit everyone’s taste. The bar has most labels and it’s not hard to find what fits your want. Activities/Amenities: We made this trip about pool and napping so i can’t say we did a lot of activity. There was always something going on at the pools and fun options of entertainment at night. They make it easy to book excursions if that is your interest and the concierge was so helpful and kind. They have a boutique that felt a little over priced and there is a mini mart for quick grab items. Snack food, sun glasses, sunscreen, etc. The stuff you forgot to pack basically. The pools are really nice. Tucked within the the resort that surrounds makes it feel like a safe oasis. There are two main pools and one kids pool. The pool furniture does feels beat up and could be a nicer quality. Not horrible just not ideal. The pool closer to the beach has a swim up bar and I can say the “Blue Hawaiian” drink is a sweet chef’s kiss. Spa: The package gave me money off a massage of 55+ minutes. I chose the therapeutic 80 mins and it was amazing. Gabriela was perfect and it was extremely enjoyable. The spa inside is nothing to write home about so I wouldn’t consider it something to add to the trip. They just have the treatment rooms. No pool and relaxing areas. That being said, it was calm, clean and wonderful. They even set up a fan to softly blow during the massage. It was great with the wild humidity. Weather: Don’t let the rain and thunder keep you from July-Sept. The weather is beautiful. It was overcast some mornings but a nice break from the hot sun. It did thunder and rain at night but it was a nice change. The balconies are covered and they have umbrellas everywhere to get around. Overall: This was exactly what we envisioned and was so wonderful. Nothing is perfect and sure there are some improvements in everything but nothing sticks out as horrible. The rooms are a traditional Mexican style decor and no they were built yesterday. That is to be expected. The rooms and grounds are kept immaculate and the staff that works there is 5 star. PS. The Costco package says it includes gratuity. Which it does. But I would highly recommend bringing cash for servers, room server attendants, house keeping, etc. Let’s be honest, they were much faster to help each day that followed.

Our first time staying in this hotel. It’s in the Marina area, very close to the airport. The hotel grounds is well maintained. Actually beautiful lush landscaping and there’s even a gorgeous peacock roaming around! Staff are all very friendly and accommodating. The front desk, the hostesses, the servers, etc! The rooms are a little dated but very clean. I heard that there’s plans to update the hotel soon. There are only 2 restaurants. Andrea and Ribera. Kudos to the chefs/cooks in both restaurants because we actually really liked almost all of the dishes we had. The very attentive and friendly staff is a plus! It’s definitely not a five star resort, and they don’t claim to be but if you’re looking for some R&R or just to get away from it all, this is the place to be. Although at it’s room’s current state and limited restaurant choices, it’s a little pricey but I think totally worth it. Would I recommend the resort? Absolutely! Would I go back? There’s other resorts to try still, so maybe.

I had the pleasure of staying a week at this resort. It was set up wonderfully. The room was nice and well kept. The view was incredible across the bay at downtown. The boys at the pool bar kept the drinks coming. The food was great. The person that stood out to me was Val at the "restaurant la ribera" on the beach. I ate several meals there and she always took outstanding care of me. She knew what I liked to drink and always had one ready for me. The chefs did a wonderful job as the meal was always delicious. The only thing I would change is to have a bar that patrons could sit at during the evening. highly recommend and make sure you take care of Val if you run into her

Our stay was wonderful in every way. The entire resort is lush, serene, clean and the staff are professional and friendly. We are a couple with two children (ages 4 and 8) who did the all inclusive option. This is not a party resort rather it was a great family environment. A good place for couples and families of all ages. I did see young adults for a conference and they seemed to be having a great time too. What stood out was that even in summer, it was not overly crowded. The pools are large and everyone including the children were on their best behavior. No one was being loud or obnoxious. My children used the Kidsclub once to make an art craft and they loved it. I know we will be using this feature more the next time. I was worried about only having two restaurants options but I found the menus to have a wide selection. There were more food options for dinner at the La Ribera than their website advertised. I want to note-they don't have a children's menu specifically but they were happy to made accommodations to their current menu items for my kids (sauce on the side ect). You have to understand the food isn't a 5 star Michel restaurant experience so don't expecting anything luxurious. Rather the food is excellent in terms of quality and choices at this price point. It was very easy to get reservations for Andrea. It has been super annoying at other resorts for them to say they are all booked at the a-la-carte restaurants so I was pleasantly surprised at how easy the whole process was here. It was well organized. Raul and Ernesto at Andrea provided incredibly professional and friendly service at Andrea. Juventino at the main pool was very attentive with drinks and lunch and made sure we were well take of. Please tip everyone-they work hard and probably survive off of tips. I have stayed at two other resorts in the Nuevo Vallarta area at a similar price point and will never go back to those as Velas Vallarta was far superior. Going in to town on a taxi was a breeze. Tips: Take water shoes as the ocean itself is a bit rocky near the shore. Try the crepe bar at La Ribera. It was such a refreshing, fun and relaxing experience. I could not ask for more and I cannot wait to return. Wonderful resort.
