Checked in for 10 days. Check in went smoothly no issues. Got to my room. It was spacious and clean well stocked with toiletries and towels etc. Took advantage of the in room safe and refrigerator. Life saver appreciated the complimentary bottles of water provided daily that's a great perk considering that it's always hot here. Went down to the bar enjoyed my complimentary free drink upon arrival as always delicious and freshly made by Jorge service is always on point. With great drinks. By Jorge and Briham. Really loved the complimentary breakfast that comes for the guests. Fresh hot and delicious great servers David and Rafa always on point always friendly with a big smile. To be honest every one of the staff from the front desk to the cleaning staff to the people that are serving drinks food everybody including the owner everybody goes out of their way to make you feel like a VIP and make your stay as wonderful as possible. My favorite hotel in PV. Can't wait to return noticed there starting to some renovations on some rooms took a little peek in one. Looks amazing will be a great addition to a already amazing hotel.

I've stayed at the Mercurio many times, most recently less than a month ago. I'll focus on their hospitality here. During my one week trip I saw a party of over 20 people descend on the hotel for an impromptu bday party, old timers pass through for lunch and drinks by the pool, and guests to capacity staying at the hotel. Everyone got treated like family being welcomed home. The front desk folks took very good care of me, even booking a lab to do my covid test in my room, for my return trip home. I'm recovering from a minor medical issue, so had the majority of my meals onsite, and got outstanding service whether I ate by the pool or in my room. My room cleaner did my laundry every day. From the owner and manager, service staff, and right to the cleaning and maintenance staff, I was always greeted like they were glad to have me there.

First of all, I will not be able to say enough positive things about our stay at Hotel Mercurio! I have never stayed at a place that makes you feel like you are at home like this hotel. The room was very comfortable and clean with house-keeping services made available daily if desired. The staff are amazing from management to direct service staff. They are so accommodating unlike most places here in the United States. The food was very tasty and made fresh for breakfast, lunch and dinner if desired. The location was in a perfect walking distance to the beach, bars, restaurants, and shops. I have found my perfect place to stay from now on and plan to visit regularly. I highly recommend Hotel Mercurio!

Just returned from a 1 week stay at Mercurio last night. The jewel in the crown for this property is their staff. Never have I been treated as well as by the staff here. Every member was just as gracious and courteous as the next one you would meet. The drinks from Jorge's bar are reasonably priced and generous. Rafael and David are terrific waiters, the housekeepers keep your room spotless, front desk staff are both knowledgeable and accommodating. The breakfast had copious quantities of food and is cooked to order. Let me tell you, the food here is delicious. Also had one lunch and one dinner here. There is a very reasonably priced daily dinner special. It was about $9 USD most days and included a beer. I had a queen bedded room on the 2nd floor overlooking the pool. The mattress was on a pedestal without box springs and was past it's "sell by" date. I think I have seen other comments about mattresses here as well. One of the other guests relayed a conversation he had with the owner about the COVID hiatus for his business, It was rough on them, I get it. Owner says they are recovering now and just went into positive cash flow again. Indeed, one of the lower level rooms was being refreshed during my visit. I talked to many repeat guests, some returning every year, or even several times a year. I doubt anyone could make an argument for a better location. Again, I stress, the staff at this property are their greatest asset and will go out of their way make your stay enjoyable.

This is a great place to stay if you're on a budget, want prime location, and want to be involved in the happenings. Staff are friendly, and the rooms are OK if you just need a place to lay your head at night. The highlight of the stay is the FOOD. Yes, the food. A major disappointment was the Sunday pool party - people stand around the pool so if you're seated at a table you're unable to see anything.

Mercurio made me feel very good about returning to PV even though COVID is not completely over yet. My room, 207, had two comfortable beds. My room's mostly white decor was soothingly zenlike. My very pleasant maid, Vero, kept everything spotlessly clean and did my laundry promptly. The excellent breakfast (included in my room rate), is now menu service but was on par with the former buffet style. I ate well, slept even better, and felt that the warm welcome was completely sincere. The staff is excellent across the board, so please tip well. Stay here for location, staff, food, and sleep quality.

I've stayed at the Mercurio about a dozen times. Rooms are basic but comfortable, fridge, AC, plenty of hot water, etc. Drinking and eating on site are a bargain, with a nice court yard, small pool and friendly bar. Bar music ends at 10. Rooms are cleaned every day. Your cleaner will do your laundry every day for tips. Its my home away from home!

The Mercurio hotel and its team provided fantastic amenities and premier service. It’s not fair to compare somewhere like the Almar to the Mercurio because they cater to different clientele and provide two separate experiences. I stayed at the Almar recently which was fabulous, but it was also very expensive with slower service and had many rules and hidden charges. The Mercurio is reminiscent of a 90s style gay hotel, and I really liked it. It is SO close to everything, including the beach, entertainment area, and tour starting points. The staff are bilingual and very helpful. Israel went out of his way to help me with a problem with my CoVid testing and the airline, and Jorge, Freddy, and David at the bar and pool area treated me more like a friend than a guest. Allan was fantastic as well and works the desk 7 days a week. The rooms are basic, but they are kept very clean and maintained daily and they even do your wash for you. The property is non-smoking but there is a smoking area out front just a few feet from any room and lots to watch on that street 24/7. Wifi worked perfectly. Safe in every room and property was very safe to stay at.Hot water always. The music at the pool can is overbearing if you’re trying to nap during the day, and if you go to the pool on Sunday, get there early. If you are there on a Friday, ask them to book you the “Tamale Cruise”. It was absolutely over the top and well worth the price. Five stars for this inexpensive gem. Free breakfast every day and the daily menu was yum. Try the pizza during happy hour! Perfect accommodations for a long weekend in PVR!Enjoy!

My week in Puerto Vallarto comes to an end tomorrow. Before I pack my bag, I felt it necessary to leave my review of this diamond in the rough. However, there is nothing rough or unpolished with the Hotel Mercurio. I requested a King Room on top floor of this 3 story hotel. The room was large, king bed very comfortable, nice bathroom with plenty of hot water. In addition to the comfortable accommodations, it was the entire staff that made my stay exceptional. Housekeeping, the kitchen staff, front desk and bartenders (So great to see Jorge again) provided me with 5 Star service. Breakfast was included each morning...delicious. Location is in the heart of the Romantic Zone with plenty of restaurants and bars nearby. If you like the big resorts on the north side, great, but you are missing what I feel is an authentic Mexico beach-side vacation. Thank you Hotel Mercurio for a great vacation! I appreciate the safety protocols and that I could get my COVID test at the hotel before my flight back to the U.S. Please staff safe...I look forward to seeing you all again on my next trip to PV.

Stayed here for 4 nights, excellent service from beginning to end, very reasonable prices for roomy yet standard accommodations, the AC was more than sufficient (it may be less so for folks who want a really cold room), rooms have safes, TV with limited channels, and a fridge - great to have, many 7/11 type stores in the neighborhood. In less than five minutes you are at the main pier, starting point for all kinds of boat trips, as well as the water taxi to Yalapa. The process to get your Covid test was super efficient, better than what big chain hotels offer, results were available within 4 hours, email and hard copy. If you don't stay here, know that you can get tested here anyway. Just make a reservation with the front desk the day before (testing is done on Monday to Saturday). The place has a small pool, a small bar, and a super fantastic full breakfast included in room charge. From omelettes with whatever you want to yogurts, lots of fresh fruit, to Mexican breakfast dishes, coffee, juice, more or less as much as you want. The breakfast waitress was from Croatia, so the breakfast had a side dish of a good conversation. You will not find a better hotel bargain for the price anywhere in PV. The hotel can arrange an airport pickup (about $30, make the request when you reserve), going back a taxi picks you up out front ($20). There is a high quality spa directly across the street - PV is full of massage parlors but not all of them are high quality, so check this one out.
