Getting upgraded are usually worth it, but with Resort, DO NOT. you'll get 5% of what you pay for. Even at check in, promise promise and do not carry thru. All the restaurants and bars had QR codes for.menus, but guess what NO WiFI unless your in the lobby and even then 50/50 of it working. Purchased a SIM, to make planning easier for the family, and guess what, QR code menu out of date. ( When getting a paper menu, again not all items available)
Loved this resort. My husband and I were there for a week and it exceded our expectations. Super clean . Food is pretty good. Drinks were good.Beach is nice and the pools are awesome. It is a beautiful resort and we are hoping to get back next year.
We picked this resort because it was smaller, outside of central Puerto Vallarta and family friendly. During our stay some of those things worked to our advantage and some did not. Here’s what we loved: The room was spacious, clean, and we enjoyed the ocean view. The food was good (it did take us a day to figure out what suited our diets best at the buffet, so that we felt good). The service was great - Oscar M is particularly welcoming, but all the staff interactions were pleasant. The a la carte restaurants were a nice option and the food and service was great. We enjoyed the pool, swim-up bar, kids pool and many activities put on throughout the day like bingo and blackjack. My daughter in 3 so I stayed with her at the Barcy Kids Club because the min. age was 5. The staff member, Lupita, in the kids club was absolutely fantastic with the children. Throughout our stay I saw so many lovely interactions and the all the kids, my daughter included enjoyed crafts, games, and little mini excursions with her. The zoo is a short walk away and the nearby town of Mismaloya is worth a visit. Disappointments: Because of the hotels small size the noise was terrible at night. There is a small bar that probably only needed acoustic music but that had incredibly loud music. There were also multiple weddings during our stay. They shut down at 10pm, which is reasonable, but with children it could make sleep challenging. We were offered a room move when we complained about the noise, but we had spoken with multiple guests from around the hotel who all shared our complaint so there was no point in a move. So as much as I’m glad it was a small resort it really worked against us in this case. It was difficult to secure a la carte reservations since we weren’t premium, especially at an early enough time for our toddler to eat. The hotel hosted a Mexican night but it wasn’t well advertised so we’d actually gone to a restaurant that night and missed the Mexican buffet and were too full for the treats in the courtyard. Overall, we had a great stay, but the noise would likely keep us from returning.…
I was in premium. Cesar Lopez is the best! He is the nicest person in whole hotel! He made my day! Cesar is the best, he is doing his job and more! The best service I got from Cesar! Thank u for him he made us a fruit plate even when it wasn't in a menu 💕
Wonderful. The location is so beautiful and relaxing, right on the beach in the protected cove. We fell asleep to the sounds of the waves and woke to the sounds of tropical bird calls. We did the premium package, the main benefit of which is first dibs at restaurant reservations. The buffet was great for breakfast but not so hot for dinner. We ate lunches at the poolside grill. Very good! We did the Caletas tour that left from the hotel. Loved it. Great for teens or adventuresome people with zip lining, banana boat, paddle boarding. Great lunch. Took a snorkeling excursion to Los Arcos. So fun. Lots of fish. There were some persistent mosquitoes, but the hotel had bug spray available. The fun directors kept things going poolside. We didn’t do the evening shows. Too wiped out from the day. Staff was uniformly warm, friendly and helpful. Carry money in small denominations for tips. Carlos the bell hop, Cesar in the lounge, Humberto, Ana the server, and many more. It was our first time doing all inclusive. I was apprehensive, but it was actually great not to have to worry about money. It would have been really worth it if we drank! I suggest they have a plan that doesn’t include alcohol. We took a taxi into puerto Vallarta one afternoon and that was plenty. Really enjoyed the laid back vibe and natural beauty. We’d do it again!…
We stayed one week at Barcelo Puerto Vallarta and will not ever go back. At first, we were impressed with the ambiance of the resort. It was attractive, beautifully landscaped, and the staff seemed friendly. However, that changed while still checking in. We had booked regular "deluxe suites" not "premium" as their website indicated they were the same size rooms, so why upgrade and pay more? We could see no difference on their website. Well, we found out at check in that "deluxe suites" meant you could only eat at the ala carte restaurants 3 nights during a week. What? It's "all inclusive". Not so much! If you want to eat dinner at the restaurants, and not the buffet, you must book the "premium" rooms. We were advised that this was stated on their website. I waited until we got home and looked everywhere on their website but could not locate this information. We also found out that reservations must be made each day for dinner for guests staying in "deluxe suites". People in "premium" rooms could make reservations for the whole week. What a hassle! We also began getting bit by the no-see-ums at check in. They are ridiculously everywhere! There isn't enough bug spray to keep them away, maybe if you took a bath in it. Everyone we saw had bites on their legs. Some people were horribly bit up. We chose to not go outdoors at all after dinner. Not much of a vacation right? We know it's a jungle environment, but this was our 3rd week in Puerto Vallarta and we did not have any bites from our 2 other resorts. To give credit where it is due, the pools and grounds are very nice. However, given the issue with dinners and bug bites, we will never return. There are many other options we prefer at a similar cost. Save your frustration and stay elsewhere!…
Service and hotel are great. Food at all the dining options is mediocre at best. There are alot of tiny mosquitos on the beach that will tear you up. Our kids were bitten from head to toe. They don't warn you about them when you check in, it wasn't until we went to the gift shop that we saw a sign warming of them and to buy bug repellent. We pre purchased round trip transportation to resort. Upon our arrival our van driver gave security the name our reservation was under, security couldn't find our name but let us through with no issue to check in. During our stay the bell hop called a van to take us in town to shop. We left and came no issues . Upon our departure our van driver texted us letting us know he was on his way and would be there at 8:30 am to pick us up. He asked our room number so he could give it to security. We texted him back the two room numbers. When he arrived, he texted advising security would not let him in. I went to the bell hop and told him, he radioed security and told them the van was there to pick up seven passangers who were waiting to go to the airport. The bell hop then said the van would be let in . After a few minutes I went to the bell hop and asked where the van was and he said security didn't want to let the van through and didn't know why. So we had to grab our luggage and walk the the 20 yards to the security gate to meet our van. While we loading our luggage the female security guard was laughing. As we drove off I asked the driver why she wouldn't let him in, and it had something to do with the transportation company we used not giving them kick backs. One positive about the resort is they don't sell time shares, so you don't have someone trying to have you go to a time share presentation every time you turn around.…
The room was nice but the food quality was poor and if your vegan forget it. The noise on Fri and Sat night was until 4 am. Not very relaxing. Was forced to stay in a different room without reimbursement
We had a wonderful time at this beautiful resort! We went with our adult kids and Ce’sar, the bartender at the premium bar, made our stay over the top! Every time we visited the premium bar Ce’sar made us feel welcome and made the best drinks in the resort! If you get a chance to visit Barcelo resort…make sure to invest in the premium package to ensure you get the opportunity to meet Ce’sar, which will make your upgrade worth it, in itself.
No where to escape the blasting pounding music all day long until 11:30 PM Not the place to go if you want quiet. Service great Food pretty good. Good for drinkers and partiers. Beach tricky, quick drop off
