We absolutely loved our stay at Barcelo Puerto Vallarta. The resort is beautiful, clean, with plenty to do. We went for a surprise wedding vowel renewal that I was in charge of planning. I worked with Yessica Moran, the events coordinator at the resort for months prior to our arrival. She was very helpful from start to finish! Answered all my questions promptly and accommodated all my request for this special event. All other hotel staff were just as amazing. Please tip any and every person you encounter there. They work tirelessly to make your stay a great experience. The only reason I’m not rating 5 stars is due to the quality of the food. We were not at all satisfied with the food. Breakfast buffet was ok. I recommend going down to Malicon to eat, it’s delicious!
We booked this hotel last minute for a 4-day weekend. After a bit of a rough start at the PVR airport, we were instantly relaxed when arriving at the hotel. Everyone here has been accomodating and friendly. The resort and beach are a bit smaller than we are used to so I don't know that I would want to stay for an extended period of time but it was absolutely perfect for the weekend. Even though our room was towards the back with an obstructed ocean view, we were clearly able to hear the waves from our room, which is something that isn't possible in bigger resorts. Beware the bugs! We were eaten alive by what we assume are no see ums at breakfast our first morning. The gift shop has a bug spray that the locals use and we haven't been bothered by the bugs since
We just came back from a week at this hotel. Overall the hotel was very nice and a beautiful location nestled in the mountainous jungle. We are an average family that goes to an all inclusive every 3-4 years, usually on the Playa del Carmen side, but with the seaweed issues, we visited the other side this year. Here are my Hits and misses for this resort. Hits: Large and nice rooms AC worked fantastic Beautiful location Wonderful small beach 2 nice large pools (very warm though) Resort was the perfect size, not to big, not to small) Great beds Misses: THE FOOD!!! It sucked. The buffet was a monotonous servings of Mexican type dishes that were OK at best. The snack bar was terrible, the pizza was brutal to eat and the burgers looked a little shaky at best. The taco bar was pretty good. One day I watched the pizza guy making the crusts by hand, which were terrible, and the hundreds of flies flying around the sticky dough and topping made me feel a little sick inside. The stand alone restaurants were not much better. If this place could up their food quality, it could be a real diamond in the rough. This is the first all inclusive, that the family and myself went home hungry, what does that tell you?…
Great family holiday. We will definitely be back when visiting Puerto Vallarta. Large spacious family suites with balcony and excellent views (we booked premium). Wonderful location on Mismaloya beach with lots of activity with boats going in and out and local vibe. Wonderful calm clear ocean swimming area. Food and drink great for standard all-inclusive.
Very pretty place, the employees were very attentive, especially the buffet people, C Martinez was very nice waiter. Very clean place. The only thing I recommended to the management is to do a outdoor entertainment. Other than that nice hotel.
The entire staff at Barcelo PV were all wonderful and accommodating. Our room was on the 3rd floor and had nice views and was extremely spacious. Very comfortable beds! The resort grounds were kept immaculate, and all the pools were refreshing and beautiful. Food for an all inclusive was hit or miss, similar to most all inclusive resorts. Kyoto restaurant was awesome! This location is gorgeous and a nice drive from central PV. The beach is a little on the smaller side, and not the most swimmable but still not too bad. $20 massages just a quick stroll down the beach, take advantage! Taxi ride to PV is about $15 US dollars so very easy to go into town. Even though the resort is a little older, I found it to be very authentic and beautiful. Lots of tours and excursions to do from the beach at the resort as well. I would absolutely stay here again!…
Okie dokie. We spent around 450MXN for a cab for the three of us to get here. That's cheaper than transfers and more convenient than an Uber. Ride was about an hour with traffic and construction, so plan for that on your return ride. We upgraded to Superior but had to check in up front. No big deal, they have a special line and it was about 5min including some champagne for the family. We got the Superior Suite Deluxe and it was more room than we needed. There is a living room and then the main room, we never used the living room but if this was football season, I could see myself using it. Our room was on the top floor and all views from each on is great. The room is pretty well stocked and they have 24hr *free room service that will bring you almost anything you might need. (Again, a premium level perk.) We eventually made it to the premium lounge and immediately booked our dinners, super easy and unlimited. The beach... simply awesome. Clean, not huge but not crowded ever. There is a resort side and then a little beach village for day tours. Lots of vendors down there and some good cheap Mexican food! Beach service was always available and drinks don't stop until you want them to. The cons... The pool is very warm and always bustling with music, activities and people. It is not bad, but definately not a relaxing pool, more of a pool party complex. While the beach is beautiful with clear cool blue water, the pool is surely the hot spot here. The food is "OK." Nothing spectacular here and some of the places can be slow to serve you during busy hours. Pros.. With the upgrade, you feel like you paid for something. The lounge is nice with great staff and they are always ready to help with anything. Again, Superior level, every bar and even beach service has top shelf drinks everywhere. I have seen many resorts that only have "the good stuff" at select bars. Here, it is everywhere. Grey Goose or even a rusty nail can be served from the lobby bar all the way to the beach. Did i mention the beach was awesome. No need to reserve chairs or any of that, plenty of room and the water is clean, cool, and no sea grass, wrong ocean. I am a Carribean junky and I was so happy to not see a spec of Sargassum. We booked a snorkel tour for 3 for $60 on the beach and it was excellent. Short boat ride and you do your thing. Back in about 90min. Perfect, hate wasting long days on tours. The wifi is shotty so be prepared to burn your own data if you plan on working, VZW is fast but has data caps depending on your international roaming plan. Tips.... tip! A dollar here and there will gain the loyalty of some of the staff and you will find yourself not waiting long for anything and also staff looking for you to keep your drinks topped off. Bring a phone everywhere. This is something everyone does anyway but all the menus at the restaurants use QR codes and you have to download the menus to see them. Think this was a COVID thing, but they do not have actual menus anywhere. The places down the beach are not part of the resort, everything is in MXN and cash only, know your exchange rates. Our trip was short but great. I am not sure I would spend weeks here, but a nice 4-7 day mixing in some tours and whatnot would be cool. With the upgrade, you get a free tour of Puerto Vallarte, albeit, we didn't do that. My last favorite thing! Not a single time share anything, anywhere! Spend the money on the upgrade and you get the absolute best of everything they have to offer. …
we had a wonderful birthday week - the resort is beautiful and relaxing, good food, clean premises and spacious rooms, the spa services were exceptional. We had excellent service in the premium lounge from Montserrat and Edgar - they even made a dinner reservation off property and sent a cake for my special day! Love this place and the service!
The resort was wonderful. The staff did a great job in keeping the resort extremely clean. They went above and beyond to make our stay enjoyably. The bartenders kept the drinks flowing. The food at all of the restaurants was above aberration for an all inclusive. In spite of the reviews that were less than positive there really was nothing bad to say.
Arrived on a Tuesday afternoon and greeted by Mario Lopez and Humberto, wonderful bellmen. Proceeded to check in with Gabriela Garcia, very informative and welcoming. The room was spacious with 2 room ,2 bathrooms and a great ocean view! We were on the 7th floor, one of the premier level floors, well worth paying for. Enjoyed the premier lounge, staffed by Laura Fuerte ,who helped make my restraurant reservations, and Monserat, 2 wonderful ladies. Nice lunch at the snack bar, with its great view and service from Rosa Palomera. The buffet was a hit and miss, but great staff, especially Ingrid and Veronica.
