The hotel has been a landmark in Zona Romantica for ages and sadly is starting to age and not very gracefully. The staff is a melange of go-getters and forgetters. The go getters will bend over backwards to satisfy their guest while the forgetters seem to care less about their guests. The most frustrating things were the futile attempts to...

This was our 6th stay at the Tropicana, and once again we had a wonderful time. This year the hotel has done some major renovations including attention to rooms in the old part of the hotel and a new pool next to the old one. The hotel is located on Playa Los Muertos, close to all that Old Town has...

I have stayed at the Tropicana two times. March 2011, and March 2012. I would go back again, but the staff seems tired and careless. There is a problem obtaining keys to the room. Several guests I noticed had similar problems with the front desk. I was given only one key to our room, my travelling companion had to wait...

Well, like any holiday...you have to know what you like! The Tropicana is in a perfect location for me! The hotel's back door makes a great beach area, available. With lots of umbrellas and chairs. Sitting on the beach is a great experience. There is lots of Local venders that try to sell you things (jewelry, hats, beaded necklaces, sunglasses,...

We recently returned from a 5 night stay at this hotel. We had booked a standard room, but, after seeing the 1st room which was right opposite the elevator, reeking of smoke and very shabby, I asked for another one. This one appeared a little better until we returned after dark and found the lights didn't work. Only the bathroom...

I can not understand how this hotel gets a 3 star rating. It is one of the worst I have ever stayed in. The shower backed up, toilet paper coming up the drain, the water would turn to scalding hot and back several times every shower. No clock, no remote, no iron or ironing board, no ice bucket, no vending...

This was our second visit to the Tropicana, the last time being in November 2004. They've done a fair bit of renovations since and the hotel looks great. Friendly staff and the location is the best for being in the Romantic Zone. The Tropicana was fully booked while we were there, so unfortunately we were unable to upgrade to a...

Have stayed here last 2 years and will be back every year travel remains safe. This IS an older hotel smack dab in the middle of the Romantic Zone or Old Town. The entire complex is extremely clean as staff are always cleaning. Not all rooms are ocean view but you should request one as it is amazing. We could watch...

We stayed a week at the Tropicana. Originally reserved a king room but were put in a queen and single room. Turned out for the better, the smaller room had more features i.e.cable tv, a phone and ocean view. The first room had a leaking toilet. We called the desk, a house keeper was sent up, she looked at the...

My second time staying in Tropicana and it was my last time. The staff specially on front desks are very unfriendly people to deal with and also the Hotel manager she is very unfriendly. So my advice to everyone don't stay where you cannot be treated the way you should be, specially if you pay top dollars for your stay....
