Hotel Tropicana is an older hotel on the beach in the best part of Puerto Vallarta. The room with two double beds was comfortable but the bathroom was dated but the shower was large and had been updated. The room was quiet, dispute being on the beach. It is near the new pier, restaurants and the heart and soul of Vallarta.

Hotel's Favorite
This is a very family friendly hotel. We spent eleven nights and enjoyed every minute. This is not a new hotel but has all the charm of a true Mexican Hotel. On the beach in the Romantic Zone. Close to everything. I must admit the restaurant needs a new cook! The food is way under par. Many good restaurants on the beach and a deli across the street. Enjoy

We have stayed here often during our thirty years visiting PV. Not fancy but convenient location for shops and restaurants. Good inexpensive prices. We avoid the Standard rooms and try to book either the Superior Suites, Deluxe Suites or the Jr. Suite (kitchen) We had booked a Jr. Suite online but were told on check-in that it wasn't available. Gave us a Deluxe Suite instead, no kitchen. We ended up liking this room since the bath is much larger and it has two porches with high side walls so you can find some shade on the porch. It can be loud since these rooms are above the pool area. Our favorite receptionist was on vacation, Anna. Found it at times unpleasant to deal with some of the other employees at the reception desk. We ended up dealing with Patricia who was very kind. One of our favorite things about this hotel are the palapas on the beach. You can get beach service, food and drinks delivered to your palapa. A few of our favorite waiters, Umberto, Carlos. Salvador the security man on the beach is great. One of the hardest working employees is Luis who takes care of cleaning the beach and setting up the chairs and umbrellas, don't forget to tip him for his hard work.

I love this hotel perfect location. Economical wonderful amenities! It was a total afterthought but turned out to be the best choice ever! Doing it again this year! We had stayed in an Airbnb and needed a place it was a little more upscale with the same approximate location and we found it!

Nice Hotel and Great location. We were here for one week on the Breakfast Plan. We enjoyed the scrambled eggs with ham, toast and Juice/fruit every morning. the staff rotated through different stations and rarely had the same server twice. All the staff were great and the food came fast. Service was from 8 - 11. We came a various times and never had a problem getting seated. this is a family friendly Hotel and there were lots of kids enjoying tthe pool all day long. Beach is great with good Bar/Food service. Prices for drinks and food at the Hotel are far better than off the resort. Bar Drinks are well made and large :) WIFI is offered mos teverywhere except your room A minor inconvenience. My most notable complaint is that the Beds are very Hard. All staff are great and friendly. Oh Yes ... and there is a fountain in front of the Restaurant with 5 Tuurtles. Loved checking them out every time we passed by. The walk too and from town is very hilly. Tough slugging for this old guy with a bad back but made the trip twice a day into town. Guess I need more exercise LOL Our Room was 4th floor (Standard) Balcony with sliding doors. Must remember to keep the sliding door locked. The Maid forgot once. The room safe is shallow and tall. We could oly fit the Tablet and travel Wallet in there, but that is all we needed space for so thatt was OK. You need to ask for the Safe key at the front Desk. We were only given one room Key (con) We had a Great time and woould stay here again.

Should be 4 for the overall rating of the property; however, there are some disturbing recent trends (from the last visit-pre COVID). There is still no Wi-Fi in the rooms1!! must use the lobby area. The lack of the staff to accept mail to be sent. The fact that only ONE key is available for the room. Security has become extreme, we wanted to carry our bags for a second person to check in 2 days later, and were stopped by security who would not allow the second person to go down to the front desk to get a wristband without an escort!! The line was long 3-4 guests for both check in and check out (1 oerson Neomi, at the counter. Rooms and housekeeping staff were very good. Location is excellent.

Awesome place and great customer service. After a long day of travel Noemi the receptionist received us with welcome arms. The Tropicana has great views and one of the best locations in the zona romántica. You can walk everywhere, it’s not the Ritz Carlton but it’s relaxing and you feel welcomed. Great value and they try to accommodate your needs. One of the nicest things I liked about this hotel is that you can hear the ocean, many other spots you can only see the ocean.

I thought it was a great spot with a very good location. Had a junior sweet looking over pools and ocean. Can’t speak on the food. We didn’t eat there once. Our beach server was Fidel and he was quick and an around super guy. Check in was okay. Mostly pen and paper. So you’ll need patience. Had a guy take us to our room and carry the bags. Very nice fellow. Rooms were clean and AC worked well. Bathroom was large(junior sweet). Did not see the smaller hotel rooms Check out was a breeze and taxi waiting for us when we asked it to be there. Would definitely return. I’ve stayed at over 10 hotels in PV. Ranging from Canto del Sol to Casa Susana Los Arcos. Location and staff were key fir Tropicana. We will return

We came to the Tropicana hotel and stayed there for 2 weeks for our wedding. We had many of our wedding guests staying there and the service that Noemi from front desk gave us was exceptional!! Thank you Noemi for all your support! I highly recommend staying in the hotel. The location is perfect and all the staff is very nice!

Recently returned to Puerto Vallarta for Dia de la Mortes and one of our party members unfortunately booked at Hotel Tropicana. The armed guards who run the security service would not allow us to walk 3 feet into the lobby to help my older friend, who was struggling with her heavy bag. This is the most bizarre practice I have ever encountered in my travels: to not allow a paying guest to invite a friend into a vacant lobby. You’re friends have to stand in a busy driveway to greet you creating a dangerous situation with taxis constantly coming and going. If you want to be able to feel safe this is not the place! Avoid at all costs and find a cleaner more friendly environment.
