I spent nine nights at this property. My reservation was for a King Bed with a Garden View. I was put in a room with two full beds and a street view of the rear of the hotel. When I asked for a different room the next day, I was told I would have to check out and check back in four hours later, which meant sitting with my luggage. I stayed in the room they gave me on check-in. I was on the third floor and the elevator was broken. Air conditioning did not work. They fixed that within an hour of taking me to my room. They put a bracelet on your wrist on check in. Don't loose this sucker or you will have to pay $14.00 USD ($250 Pesos) to replace it. It took 20-30 minutes for the hot water to get to the shower. They were doing renovations, but you had to discover this on your own. I had to scrub mold and grit off my shower wall the first morning. They do not supply facial wash cloths. No stopper in the sink, which really did not matter, because the sink drained at a snail pace. Positives: Location to beach, pool area, bars and restaurants on property and nearby, the turtle pond, and maid staff. Negatives: Elevator broken; No access to wall safe; front desk staff needs to work on customer service and explain all charges on check-in; and my view. My significant other went home ill and was not present at check-out. Because I did not have her bracelet, they charged me for it. There is an OXXO two blocks from the hotel.…
We reserved a room with a king bed for our stay. When we checked in, the process was unreasonably sluggish. We were given a room on the fourth floor of a tower that was under renovation. The elevator did not work. The bathroom did not have a mirror, and the room was appointed with cheap plastic chairs. After going back to the front desk to complain about the accommodations, we were told they could “upgrade” us to a room with a king bed in a tower with a working elevator for an additional $30 USD per night. I have Diabetes and high blood pressure, and my health does not allow me to climb four levels every time I want to enter the hotel room. We asked at the front desk to have our reservation canceled so that we could find more hospitable accommodations. After the front desk clerk called her manager to discuss the situation, they upgraded us to the room in the tower with the elevator without an additional charge. That was appreciated, but it should have been done in the first place instead of trying to give us subpar accommodations in a tower without a working elevator or a room fully furnished to international standards with a mirror in the bathroom and furnishings reflected in online pictures of the room. That was the experience we were welcomed with. After the room was sorted out and we had access to a working elevator, we did enjoy ourselves. The pool was nice, and the wait staff at the pool and beach were nice and accommodating. However, the biggest disappointment was on the day of departure. My friend whom I spent the weekend with is a Mexican national, and I am a non-Spanish speaking American. He was departing later in the day than I was, and spoke to the front desk requesting a late checkout. He was instructed to cut off my hotel wristband when I left and keep it with him to turn in when he checked out later in the day. So that is what we did. As I left the room to depart for the airport, my friend cut off my hotel wristband and kept it to turn in later when he checked out. I summoned my Uber to the airport, and when down to the street. However, when my Uber arrived, the bellman would not allow me to leave. He said I needed a ticket from the front desk to leave. So I went to speak to the exact same woman that my friend had spoken to, and she told me she would have to charge me for a lost wristband. I asked her why she was telling me something different than she told my Mexican friend. She said she would have to talk to her manager, but he would not arrive until noon. My flight departed at 11:15am. The help me prisoner there and would not allow me to leave until I was able to finally call him and tell him to come down to the front desk. Once they saw my friend and saw he was the person they had told could cut off my wristband and turn it in later upon checkout, they allowed me to leave. It wasted 20 minutes of my time, made me lose my Uber ride, and raised my blood pressure. UNBELIEVABLE. My Uber driver canceled my trip because they were not allowing me to depart. I was held captive against my will like a prisoner or a criminal, even though I was their paying customer. I recommend spending your money somewhere else that appreciates your business and doesn’t treat you as a foreigner who is unworthy of their services. With the global economy the way it is, and international travel and tourism suffering because of COVID, my business should be earned and respected. Hotel Tropicana acted as though they did not care if I was satisfied or not. They made no effort to be accommodating or act like they appreciated the business. I do not recommend Hotel Tropicana. Go enjoy your vacation at a hotel who would gladly earn your business. The view is not worth the harassment.…
The Tropicana is really two buildings. The primary building which is worthy of a 3 star category, and their separate north tower which is only a 2 star property. With no notification from booking.com nor from the property, they have closed their main building and are only renting rooms in the inferior tower, so until this situation is resolved, booking.com needs to add a disclaimer to their listing. Additionally, it is pigeon nesting season and there are nests in abandoned flower boxes on the tower. They are making no attempts at pest control. Every morning we would wake up to pigeons roosting on the light fixtures and railings of our balcony and the balcony floor splattered with pigeon poop and feathers. The only response was to mop the balcony with the same mop they used to mop our room. The next morning the same situation existed. We checked out two days early.…
This is an older hotel In the romantic zone. The rooms and hotel are in good shape. The pool is a bit small but it doesn’t get too crowded. Only thing missing was consistent service on the beach. We ended up giving one of the beach vendors some money to go get us some drinks at the corner store. Service in PV is always on point
