We enjoyed our one week stay at El Cid. We had a ocean view room in the tower. There was lots of options for food, including authentic Mexican corn tortillas made fresh for you (La Cascada they make them right in front of you on taco night). All of the staff is very friendly and willing to help. It was...

This resort was everything average, except the staff - they were very nice and charming. We paid extra to eat at the seafood buffet on our last night. Not worth the money as the fish was all fresh, but bland

Was told we could eat at all the buffets for all three hotels, when we got there it was only at certain times 11-12, unless you want to upgrade to 25$ per person per day. Very loud at night. Food was ok, dont eat the crab, we got very sick from it. The bands on the beach are there all...

Just returned from an all inclusive week stay at El Cid Castilla and am overall satisfied with my experience. Check-in was at 3 but they were a half hour late getting our room ready...overall check-in was a smooth process. Would stay again if the price was right. Would not stay here for more than $1200. The pros: Very clean resort,...

Labelled as a 5-star resort, I can only conclude they come to this rating when compared to other resorts IN THE SAME AREA. When put up against high end resorts in other Mexican destinations, my opinion is that this resort is, at most, 3 to 4 stars. Regardless, The El Cid Castilla is a very comfortable stay, and the amenities...

Only complaint is that the beds were quite hard and there was no mini bar in the rooms. The staff were excellent and the food wonderful! Bar and serving staff were always available and ready to bring whatever you may need and always with a warm smile on their faces. My first time in Mexico and I was not disappointed!

The pillows were very hard and lumpy. Woke up with stiff neck and back every day. The air conditioner left our room smelling like mold whenever we ran it. Whenever another room flushed their toilet or ran sink water, it was very loud in our room and the pipes rattled loudly and shook obnoxiously. The first time using the shower,...

Just spent 2 weeks at the El Cid Castilla resort in Mazitlan. Rooms were of a decent size, beds were comfortable. Food at the the buffet was average. Stay away from the evening shows if you want a relaxing meal. Entertainment was way too loud and in your face. Tables too jamb packed, no tables for 4. Not enough chairs...

Everyone was friendly and I felt safe and facility was nice and clean. We stayed here after being on a fishing trip on lake Picachos. Need large more fluffy pillows. Shower was awesome!! Most people spoke enough English for me to communicate. I would like to come back and bring my wife and kids.

“The pillows were very hard and lumpy. Woke up with stiff neck and back every day. The air conditioner left our room smelling like mold whenever we ran it. Whenever another room flushed their toilet or ran sink water, it was very loud in our room and the pipes rattled loudly and shook obnoxiously. The first time using the shower, the hot water handle broke off. Every time you showered, you were standing in three inches of water that wouldn't drain. Housekeeping only gave us two towels- and no new washcloths. They actually knocked on our door in the middle of the day to take our towels, one day. No rugs in the room so when you track in unexpected sand in your room, you need to wash your feet before you get into bed for the night, or your left with sand in the bed. We enjoyed the all inclusive plan- although it's not truly "all inclusive". Some on-site restaurants you have to pay extra for. When we had to make reservations the morning of, for dinner, the offices opened at 7am to take reservations- but when we called each day, right at 7am, we couldn't ever get in before 8:00pm. The latest we had during our stay was 9:30pm. At the pool, the staff was very good at coming around asking if you needed a beverage. When we got down to the pool each day, there were no available chairs due to other people reserving them with their towels and personal items. When we figured out that although it is against their "policy" to do so, we gave in like everyone else and reserved our own chairs. But when we came down to our chairs for the day, someone had took some of our chairs anyway. So frustrating. At the pool, they played the exact music over their loud speakers every day- same music in the same order. It would have been better if they had more of a variety and different order of playlist. On our last afternoon, after finishing lunch at the "buffet", we left our tip and got up to leave. The "server" came and grabbed the tip before we were gone and went over to his fellow workers, bragged about it and waved it in their faces- While we were still at our table. So unprofessional. ”
