The hotel is an old construction, with small, musky, dark, with repainted furniture units. They cater to a population of Canadians fixed income retirees, the so called snow birds, who are happy just for not having to endure the harsh snowy winter and accept the low quality accommodations as if they where a palace. As I was told "it is...

After staying at the Mayan Palace in Cancun (Riviera) we were looking so forward to staying here, same chain. What a huge disappointment!!! No comparison whatsoever. The thing that was most upsetting was the daily calls, sometimes TWICE a day, by the people selling the timeshare, trying to get me to come downstairs to pick up my "welcome" package, or...

Room was large and comfy, but bathroom fixtures, stove, and frige were worn out. Had a 2 burner stove top. It was difficult to cook with two pans. Frige door drug on floor when opened. Spigot on bath tub was so loose, we thought it would fall off. Safe is so high on closet shelf that I had to use...

Friendly staff, lovely beach. We were lucky enough to get an ocean view when we requested a change, the back side had traffic noise all the time. Not free WiFi, but customers of the Balance would share the code each day if we did not make a purchase to obtain it. It was definitely a step down from their other...

Mayan Palace is the more basic level of "Grupo Mayan" it is a nice resort, but if you want more upscale they have higher offerings; Grand Mayan, and onward. No polished marble floors or wading pool on the deck, but a fairly nice resort on a very nice beach.

I'm writing this review while I'm in a room at Mayan Palace. I woke up at 1:30am smelling gas. With the smell, I couldn't really get back to sleep, so is my wife. I called the hotel and got the service guys over around 2:20am. One of the maintenance guy came up to the room without any gear. He just...

Spent our Christmas vacation here and had a wonderful week. It's the smallest of the Mayan Palace properties we've visited. They did everything extremely well. Very attentive staff made sure we had enough to do. Enjoyed blackjack and Texas Hold 'Em tournaments, beach volleyball, bingo, etc. Happy hour drink specials every day. Beautiful weather, morning & evening walks on the...
