Family of five went down last week; stayed in a family room - one huge king size bed, one queen size bed + a crib. 3 boys aged 1, 6 and 8. would give it 5 stars all round with teh exception of the pool which for me was unswimmable in March ??? the ocean (pacific) was naturally cold. As...

This hotel is absolutely gorgeous! Staff are hard working and friendly and the place is spotless...always cleaning. The rooms are beautiful and spacious, comfortable king size bed with incredible ocean views off the balcony. The fridge is kept full of bottled water, pop and beer plus four full size liqour dispensers on the wall!! The pool area is like a...

the Riu resorts are usually fantastic, but the Riu Mazatlan took the cake. this was one of the most beautiful family resorts we have ever been. the resort was fairly new, the rooms gorgeous, the food wonderful, the buffets were exceptional and the restaurants were very good. the beach, one of the most beautiful weve seen, the sand wow, water...

We spent a week at the Riu and found it to be average and more like a 3 star even by Mexico standards. Food, services, drinks, towels, linens were all of average quality. Nothing exceptional that one expects from a 5 star. The entertainment team is very disorganized and many of the posted events do not go forward. There is...

I just returned from a week at the Riu Emerald Bay with a girlfriend. Due to the negative news our families were concerned about 2 girls travelling there but there was absolutely no need to worry. Never once did I feel unsafe and I did use the elevators by myself at night after dinner, bar and disco. The hotel is...

We just spent 5 nights at the Riu (two children 8 & 11) and had a great time. We had a few interesting things happen to start our trip; group check-in in the lobby bar seemed strange, but ended up being super fast and efficient, then when we got to our room we found two double beds together as one...

Please do not use looney's or twonies as tip money in Mexico, there is no way for the locals to change the coin so it's basically like not tiping. Best advise, go to the bank before your trip and buy $50.00 worth of US $1.00, it will last you the week depnding on how much you tip. My suggestion at...

This was our first visit to Mazatlan and we were impressed with our resort as well as the city itself (about a 30 minute bus ride at the cost of about 8 pesos). We found the vendors in the city less aggressive then Puerto Vallarta or Playa del Carma; in fact the only vendors that we found somewhat irritating were...

Make sure you take open air taxi to town and pay $40-50 for full tour then he takes you to market and waits for you. Moto rent (scooters) $15.00 for one hour and we went for a great ride. Maggie on beach is a great hard working vendor Memo beach bartender is fabulous

I just got back from a one week all inclusive vacation at the Riu, travelling as a single person. Overall I would say that for the price, this hotel is a very good deal (The sell off was for $525 plus tax for double occupancy and $750 plus tax for single). The rooms are comfortable, and well kept, the beds...
