Reviews Summary
This summary was created by AI, based on recent reviews.
Powered by AI
Hotel Riu Emerald Bay offers stunning views and prides itself on cleanliness, according to guest feedback. While the location is lauded for its scenic seclusion, the atmosphere is marred by the cacophony of competing mariachi bands, which has been a source of disturbance for many travelers. Guests have called out the dedicated staff for their friendliness, but the hotel's value is questioned due to dated furnishings, noise issues, and high costs. Amenities, though varied, are sometimes let down by overcrowding and inconsistent services.

We stayed in Feb 2024, and had an amazing time. This is our second time, and it was fantastic. As other have said, the beach and sunsets are beautiful. Beach is that great sand for long walks. Always pool chairs available, and pools were not over crowded. The staff are a huge part of the experience. Rodriguez with his drinks cart at the pool has a great personality for that job, always checking in to make sure everyone has drinks. Felix was excellent in the breakfast buffet (Malecon) - always had a big smile. The most memorable person was Lutivinia at dinner service in the Malecon. I would hire her. In between tasks, she was always busy straightening tables and chairs to perfection, and cleaning the drink station that all of the wait staff used. She was so friendly, so kind, and was patient with us when we tried to use our beginner spanish. She made our dining experience so special and we looked for her each dinner service. True Mexican hospitality. We wholeheartedly recommend this resort!

What a great time!!! Out of the Riu's in Mexico (not Palace), I like this one the best The entire staff works night & day to keep the overall property really clean & tidy. Lounges are always available. 2 adult pools are a welcome area & the staff politely reminds families of this, appreciated. The beach is great, lots of nice sand... Keep in mind that the ocean is a tougher swim, good work out really. Lots of activities throughout the day for all ages, as the activities team is motivating & appreciates participation. OK, yes the mariachi bands are a little much however I found it easy to tune them out...by keeping myself busy with activities and great conversations. Although the ala carte choice is limited, the multiple buffets offer many great tasting food choice and variety throughout the week. 95% of the servers are excellent and attentive. They will suggest you sit with them again by providing their shift & restaurant locations. They will proactively bring a dessert plate to share. Flavourful food choices! Bars & restaurants offer great service, experienced bar tenders, and good quality yummy drinks! I found the house wine options better & tastier than many resorts. Having issues with Riu app at the resort, ask for help from the front desk staff as it works very well. Live music (DJ/bands), around the throughout the resort was decent. Night time theatre entertainment could be improved with more impressive shows. Mazatlán is great, much bigger than I thought. It has a variety of shopping, good restaurants, and great excursion options. I enjoyed the area better than PV, sorry... I will be back!!!

Beautiful hotel, nice rooms, very clean, plenty of good food and drinks, lots of pools and lounges with shade. Best walking beach ever! Making reservations for specialty restaurants is a waste of time as they are all buffet anyway. Overall, a little too big and remote for me.

We had a fantastic time here. We stayed in the Tower and the view and sunsets were Amazing! Loved the Mariachi band on the beach each late afternoon to evening. The rooms are clean and nice sized with a private balcony, The Pools were great. There is plenty of room is one pool is to busy to loud you can go to another one. Loved the Beach, it is huge. My favorite was there were so many chairs we could go to be beach or pool anytime and find a chair. There are a couple a venders on the beach, they are very respectful and stay behind the RUI Line. Breakfast were always good. Lunch by the beach was the same everyday with Hamburger, Hot dog, Taco, chips and fries. It is just fine for a quick snack. Dinners were my only issue, The Asian and Mexican restaurant require reservations, Not easy to get into, but still buffet for starters and desert. They are both good. The Buffets are big and wasn't impressed with anything much. Everything was just warm. But if you like to venture out for dinners, Mr Lionso is down the beach and is amazing. They have the best Shrimp and Ceviche. They have live music and 2 for 1 Happy Hour where you can get cocktails that is not offered at the RUI. We went 3 times is was so good and not expensive. The Lounge and Sports bar are a nice spot for the specialty drink before dinner or after. Louis (my favorite bartender) at the Sports bar remembered my drink after the 1st time there. so sweet. When you need anything in your room, just request on the App and they deliver. It works great. We loved this vacation, We travel to a different place each year, but we may need to do a return to Mazatlán RUI Emerald Bay. It checked most of my expectations for a vacation.

This is a large hotel/resort. The service was excellent. Staff were helpful and no problem with communication. We stayed in the "tower" where all the rooms have ocean view. Sunset on the balcony was a nice bonus. The rooms were clean and everything worked fine. A little dated perhaps. The food service is buffet style except for the Mexican restaurant which provided a choice of entres. Generally the food was good. Lots to choose from at each location.. The resort is a long way from the main tourist area. A cab or bus ride is required if you want to do anything outside the resort other than walk the beach. The weather was poor while we were there soo we didn't get much use of the pools but they look nice. I found that the best place for a morning coffee before the restaurant opens is in the lobby sports bar where there are a couple single serve coffee machines. Much better than the coffee provide in the room.

We stayed at the Riu Emerald Bay in the beginning of February 2024. Our check in went very quick and easy, our room was actually better than we thought it would be due to reviews we had read on rooms being out dated and such. We stayed in the older part of the resort ( the tower building ) and the view was just incredible! Our room was extremely clean and the maids cleaning every day did a fantastic job! We had great hot water and water pressure every time we went to use the shower, and our room also Had a bath tub which was handy for our younger daughter. The only complaint for the room was we never got the mini bar stocked once even tho it’s supposed to be every second day, and we only received coffee packs and water in the room once after we had checked in over the course of a week. The pools are nice but vary in temperature, some are pretty cold while others are a lot warmer ( which were the adult pools ). The grounds staff are constantly cleaning around the pools and walk ways and try their best to keep everything clean but there are so many lazy visitors who toss their cigarette butts where ever they want and smoke all over the grounds which is rude as hell and a smack in the face for the staff having to clean up the butts when there’s ashtrays all over the place. The food here overall was good! Lots to choose from but over all the same every lunch, and then every supper was basically the same too. The Asian A la Carte was absolutely fantastic! Just wish it was open every night rather than every second night . The Mexican A la Carte is also opened every second night just opposite nights of the Asian, but not as good, and you get more variety and better food at the normal daily Buffett restaurants. The beach is nice, but resort doesn’t own to the ocean so there’s a lot of people trying to sell you stuff there and there’s a band that doesn’t belong to the resort playing on the beach which sounds ok for the first night but gets to be to much after all afternoon and even after dark every day. Over all we enjoyed our trip here and if we decide to come back to Mazatlán again this resort will be the only one we stay at here.
