We just spent a week at this beautiful B&B resort. It was very peaceful and quiet but only a 15 min, $5.60 taxi ride to town. The rooms are clean and comfortable and there is a fridge in the main dining room to stock full of your own beer and champagne for morning mimosas. The beach is a bit of a hike through the woods, so bring your running shoes. It's well worth it, because you generally have about 2 km of white sand beach to yourself. Here are some recommendations for day trips close by: La Crucita central for culture and great food, La Villa Blanca for happy hour on Thursday and Sunday, Camelot for a weird Medieval Karaoke experience, the spa next door offers full sweat log, mud wraps and massages for much less than the surrounding area. Around $40 for a one hour massage (bring an old bathing suit and a pair of flip flops). La Papaya Nightclub to get your latin dance on. Really gets going around 11:00. Head over to the 5 star Quinta Real for the day pass (take your ID) it's $50 US for the day and you use that $50 as a credit for what ever you eat and drink. Also, Chaudrai Supermarket for all your food and drink needs. To top up on your pesos use the small bank machine on the right in the supermarket for the lowest fee on withdrawal transactions.
I hope this helps,
Enjoy!!!

From the moment that Brooke or Rick greet you at the door to Agua Azul, you know you have made a great choice. On the tour to your private room, Brooke fills you in on how Agua Azul works. The common room, where breakfast is served, opens out to a vista of the Pacific ocean. Each room is extremely private as the six rooms are on their own level down the mountain side. Absolutely spectacular. The room is furnished by locally sourced accessories. Very charming. We stayed for three weeks and were sad to leave at the end of that time.

The bed is extremely comfortable. Every morning you are treated to a spectacular vista, whether viewed from your bed or under your private terrace underneath a palapa.

The included breakfast consists of a large selection of fresh fruit, freshly squeezed juice and freshly ground coffee and baked goods prepared by Brooke each morning.. The breakfast provides an excellent opportunity to discuss the day's activities with Brooke, Rick and other guests. Our hosts, based on 20 plus years at Agua Azul are a great source of information regarding local activities.

Mind you, lounging at the pool amidst a profusion of tropical plants re extremely relaxing and pretty hard to leave. If that is not enough there is a nearby private and virgin beach that can be accessed by means of a short walk from the Agua Azul villa.

Agua Azul is a wonderful villa to rest and rejuvenate. Janice and I heartily recommend it anyone visiting the Huatulco are of Mexico.

Our family of 4 visited Huatulco for a very relaxing vacation on the beach over Christmas 2019 and New Year 2020. We stayed at Agua Azul La Villa, a B&B off the beaten path, in Residencial Conejos, just past Tangolunda beach. It is located 25 minutes from the airport. We rented a car to visit the area, although it is very easy to get a taxi to and from Agua Azul. There is no noise, an excellent view and a beautiful beach at a 20-minute walk, with very few people on the beach and no commercial venues. Great for snorkelling. Brooke and Richard are wonderful hosts and make you feel at home. A healthy breakfast is included in the room and the dining room is a beautiful set-up and has a beautiful view. We had a chance to explore the Parque Ecoarqueologico Copalita, which is located 7 minutes from Agua Azul. They have a beautiful museum and walking area through the ruins with spectacular views.

With only six rooms all facing the rocky coast below you can sleep to the sounds of the waves and watch dawn break if you like early mornings. The setting and waterfall pool are wonderful as are the hosts and Tango the resident retriever. Breakfast is terrific the place is exquisitely designed and is eco friendly. The room Air conditioning units are very good and quiet for clearing the heat of the day and the ceiling fans are generally all you need Hot water plentiful and showers are good. The area has lots of birds and provides interesting walks before venturing to the beaches. Highly recommend and plan to return

This is a beautiful and relaxing accommodation that I HIGHLY recommend. The location and setting of the hotel are stunning, and the host Amy is an incredibly kind human that is keen to help people and make them feel at home. When she found out I was a coffee addict, she offered me a kettle to take to my room to make coffee whenever I wanted. All the rooms have a mini-fridge and private balcony. The views are amazing, and the room where breakfast is served is so nice. There is a very relaxed and quaint atmosphere. Guests often have nice chats with each other and the host, and Amy serves up a heathy and fresh breakfast.
It is a bit from town, but that just adds to the peace and solitude, and it’s really only a 10 minute cheap taxi ride into town. It also feels really safe being in a protected community area. There are multiple friendly taxis that know the place well, and can quickly take you into town, or on a tour. There is also a knock-out beach just down the hill. I stayed here with my fiancé at the end of a 2 month trip around Mexico, and we couldn’t have chosen a better place!

This was our second stay at Aqua Azul la Villa, and it did not disappoint. That being said, I understand that most, if not all reviews are subjective, as we're all looking for our perfect oasis. Well, for us, this is the place.

Aqua Azul provides the perfect balance, from all the amenities we can think off, the hosts Amy and Frank, to the spectacular views, location, (at least for us), beach chairs, shade umbrellas, and all the little extras that Amy provides.
A light breakfast is provided each morning, and Amy was gracious enough to let us have ours a little earlier than the norm so that we could head out on our walk. Thank you!

Amy is also a wealth of knowledge when it comes to local restaurants, entertainment, tours, beaches, and so on. If you don't have the What'sAp Ap on your phone it would be a good idea to download so that you do. Most of the taxi drivers and restaurants utilize this app to communicate, as does Amy, which is very helpful. There is also a great bookshelf in the common area where you may, or may not find something to read, if that's your thing.

Oh, and lets not forget the access to an incredible beach just a short walk/hike away, maybe 10 minutes, really depends on the individual. The trail down to the beach is a little steep at the start, certainly not a deal breaker given the reward at the bottom. And although some guests found it a little easier than others, that didn't stop Frank from adding a length of rope at the top portion to help out those guests that may otherwise not of ventured down the trail. Thanks Frank.
The rooms are perfect for us and provide everything we need, after all most of our time, outside of sleeping, is spend outdoors.

Aqua Azul is a little ways out of town, about 7-8k, a relatively short cab ride. Cabs cost approximately 80-85 pesos into La Crucecita, or Santa Cruz areas, and it's best to ask before you get in. The Tangolunda area is closer, approximately 2.5k, you can cab it, or it's a nice walk earlier in the day, or just before sunset if you choose to do so. We walked a lot, pretty much every day, the area is very safe, sidewalk all the way to town, or if you like you can head the other way to La Boccana, another great spot with a couple of restaurants, beach to walk, and some surfing. This is where the Copalita river meets the ocean, lots of birds, and a really nice place to chill.

We like the fact that we're not right in town, it can be very busy, and a little noisy at times, but if that's your thing, then go for it. But if you want the perfect blend of relaxation, beach access, quiet nights and stunning views then Aqua Azul is a great choice that won't disappoint.
I know we'll be heading back for another visit at some point, and expect it to be no different than the first two adventures at Aqua Azul!

My partner and I stayed @ Agua Azul Villas for a week and had a brilliant time. Amy was super helpful and accommodating providing loads of advice before we arrived to make our stay perfect. We arrived super early on the first day as we had got an overnight bus from Oaxaca City and Amy made sure the room was ready and provided and early check in and when we left even provided a late check out as our flight wasnt until the evening. The views from the room were insane and I would highly recommend staying if you are planning a trip to Huatulco. Its a 5 minute drive from the local town but you can easily get a cab in and out. I've been dreaming about sitting in the hammock on our terrace since we left!

We stayed at Aqua Azul in October/November 2023 for 18 nights and couldn't have been happier with our decision. We've been travelling to Mexico for the last 16 years, all on the East coast, however we decided to change it up and visit Huatulco. We've never visited the area before so it was certainly challenging to pick accomodation. Fortunately someone in the family, (not me), is a really good researcher when it comes to seeking out the best places to stay.
We've been looking at Aqua Azul for quite some time and finally decided book it and make it our home base for our entire trip. From the moment we booked, and before we actually went on our trip Amy was very helpful with lots of information regarding the area, including transportation, restaurants, beaches, tours, and the list goes on.

When we did arrive we met Amy right away, she brought us up to speed on the routine, and made us feel very welcome. The views from the rooms don't disappoint, same story from the common area. The common area is where you can enjoy a daily breakfast of fresh fruit, yogurt, baked goods and coffee, not to mention meeting all the other guests. Amy also has plenty of refreshments available for purchase at a very reasonable price, and she supplies chairs, umbrellas, coolers, and potentially other items if you ask. If you enjoy coffee you won't be disappointed as the Huatulco area has an abundance of coffee plantations, and many of their products are available in town. We tried several and ended up bringing home about 12 lbs. of coffee. Can't wait to try the all!

Local taxis are available, and numbers are provided to contact them, some speak English, others don't, but I looked at it as a good opportunity to practise my Spanish. The beaches nearby are fantastic, one is suitable for swimming and snorkeling, the other more so for nice walks, and sunrises. The beaches are only a short distance away, maybe 8-10 minutes, an easy walk, however there is a need to hike down a short trail, and back up when you leave.
As others have alluded to the B&B is a little out of town, but not really an issue as cabs are relatively inexpensive. I don't see this as a negative as it's also much more peaceful in this area, and allows for a truly relaxing vacation. Definitely worth a stay!

That being said, we've already booked again, and are looking forward to another great experience.

Where to start. Amy is an incredible host. She is there serving a wonderful breakfast-fresh fruit, sweet breads, yogurt, granola, coffee and boiled eggs. If there is anything you want she is willing to accommodate. To quote a wise (Mexican/American friend) “if you want a run of the mill BnB this is not it”. The scenery is spectacular from your terrace in the day and at night for star gazing. The bed was super comfy and as I was just recovering from surgery a request for extra pillows was fulfilled right away. The A/C in our room stopped working and was replaced while we were out during the day, this doesn’t even happen in Canada 🇨🇦 right now(everything takes weeks to get done) so we were very impressed. A few days there wasn’t hot water but it was warm and frankly it’s so warm in Huatulco that it isn’t an issue. Amy is a wealth of knowledge about everything to do while here. There are beach chairs and blankets, umbrellas and coolers. No need to bring anything from home. Having a mini fridge in the room was a bonus for purchasing aqua and cervesas even though there is a kitchenette in the common dinning area with beverages for purchase at a very reasonable price. We so enjoy our time here. Feliz Navidad 🎄

I just came back from a wonderful week stay at Agua Azul. I loved that I could snorkel after a short walk down a steep path to the beach. I parked my stuff under a tree in the shade and then swam left under the buoy to see many amazing fish.
Amy my host served wonderful breakfasts of fresh fruit, Fresh squeezed orange juice, yogurt , granola, coffee, breads, hard boiled eggs.
My room had a patio with a view of the beach, ocean , palm trees , and I heard the songs of birds and saw parrots flying back and forth. Taxi service is available into town and to all the beaches. Be sure to bring reef safe sunscreen with you as the reefs are lovely and we need to keep them that way. I also brought my own toiletries and hairdryer.

Sorry Sandra i don´t know. I asked my maid and she said to take a bus or van to Pochutla and then take a taxi to San Agostinillo. Across from the Soriana supermarket there is a van service to Pochutla. regards, Rick

How do you get from airport to Agua Azul la villa
Answer from alf2000
calgary9 contributions4 helpful votes
In the Arrivals area there is a desk that sells tickets for Chev. Suburban taxis. The "colectivo" shared taxi costs 175 pesos per person and the same vehicle as an "exclusivo" costs 750 pesos for the whole van. Insist on the "colectivo" and tell the driver you are going to Residencial Conejos...Agua Azul la Villa. Most of the drivers are familiar with our Villa but if yours is not then tell him "From the entrance to Residencial Conejos, turn left at the second street and we are at the top of the hill". An alternative to the “colectivo” is to walk about 2 blocks to exit the airport and directly across the highway. There is a taxi stand there and the cost will be 250 pesos for the taxi.

The current owners of Agua Azul are planning on relocating to another part of Mexico. They have the B & B on the real estate market at the moment but are still taking guests. Maybe they aren't taking anything after Dec 1 in case they sell etc. I don't think they accept pets as they have a dog of their own. Have you tried renting a condo for this time frame or looking at La Crucecita- about a 5-10 min cab ride from Agua Azul.

Hi I am sorry for not responding sooner. Our computer crashed and we had to get a new one. From Agua Azul la Villa there is a virgin beach about a 10 min. Walk through the forest a extra over a hill. Quite We have beach umbrellas and a small cooler. Within a 10 min. Drive (50 pesso) by taxi there are several beaches. Other activities include a coffee place Tatiana tour or Higa Sofia, or the archeological park. Many of our guests like to just hang out on their ocean view terraza in a hammock. I hope this helps.
