I have visited this nice hotel for the 3rd time. And I would like to visit it every year with my family. It so comfortable. Rooms are big and nice, equipped with a kitchen, with a small refrigerator. Maybe the only details I found is that the free internet is very unstable and allows only 3 devices per room to be connected at the same time. Also, there are some moments that hot water in the room is missing. This also happened a year ago. Time shares sales persons will prosecuting you all week long. You have to be patient with them. Check in and check out is really fast. Pool and lazy river are lovely. The best thing in this hotel is the sunset every day. All three times I stayed here at different seasons, felt the temperature of the sea warm.
My first observation is that this hotel is deeply committed to safety precautions during the COVID pandemic which was one of my primary concerns of traveling right now. Your temperature is taken before you enter, masks are required everywhere except by the pool and beach, surfaces are sanitized and staff are wearing masks and shields. My family felt very safe in that regard. The highlight of our trip were the guided tours, activities, and travel we received from ROBERTO ALARCON He took our trip from good to great and we could not recommend him more. He is simply lovely and took amazing care of our family by going over and beyond creating safe and really enjoyable tours, amazing restaurant reservations, reliable transportation and more. He was prompt and very easy to communicate with and helped us get access to medicine for my husband who had an injury during our trip. He was deeply committed to our safety and took a lot of precautions to ensure our health and COVID prevention. He even has received a certificate in COVID prep and we felt incredibly safe with him and following all of his precautions as well as recommendations. You can find him by searching Roberto Alarcon on tripadvisor or robertoalarcontours.com. His email and phone number is available on his webpage. I give a full review on his page. We had requested an ocean view room (it is not guaranteed) and when we arrived we had a city view. I inquired about the possibility of getting an ocean view room at some point and was made to believe by two people that we would likely be able to get one early in the week. When I checked in later, I was told that wasn’t going to happen. They do sell timeshares there and, understandably, their timeshare members get first priority in ocean view rooms. However, they told me they were sold out which was surprising given they have reduced occupancy right now. I chose this hotel because of the lazy river. I thought my kids would love it and they did. That made for a lovely experience for them and they must have been in the lazy river over 30 times. It was lovely for my husband and I as well. Due to COVID, not a lot of the restaurants were open. This made it a bit hard but again (using ROBERTO ALARCON) we were able to go to local restaurants safety which were delicious. We did go to the Italian restaurant at the resort and it was great but you have to take a shuttle. No one from the hotel told us about the fact that there is a shuttle and we would not have known if Roberto hadn’t shared that with us. There are enough food options at the hotel if you don’t want to leave the site. There is a market below where you can buy items and there is a lovely pantry/bakery with food when a restaurant or room service feels like too much. Many services were close due to COVID such as the kids club and the gym (I believe). This is to be expected and wasn’t upsetting to us. The staff were lovely. Francisco at the pool took care of us and everyone who helped us was great. Roberto took us a grocery store before we arrived so we had food for breakfast. There is a fridge ( a bit larger than a dorm fridge but not full size) as well as a blender, toaster, and stove. No oven. I didn’t grab butter or Pam spray at the store so it made it a bit hard to cook but that was my fault. I was glad I read reviews because the hotel tried to charge us for the coffee and water in the room (which we didn’t use as we bought some at the store with Roberto) and a “donation” to some fund. It was an easy matter to ask for it to be removed but be sure to look for it at the end of your stay. Overall, we had a good experience at the Grand Mayan. We felt safe and it was beautiful. The beach was lovely. The pool and lazy river were a total hit. But in the end, Roberto, is what helped take our trip to the next level!…
Our stay at The Grand Mayan was wonderful! We took our daughter, her husband, and our grandson with us for most of our week. The pools were beautiful and they were perfectly warm. The service was very friendly. They even came to the room in the evening to offer to get the couch beds ready and make them up for us. The lazy river was very relaxing - we went in that at least once per day. The place was very clean and well-kept up. It has things that could use some repairing, however there were people around every day doing some painting, maintaining, and repairing things as needed. We did not do the all-inclusive this trip, so we mostly brought food in and ate local, off the resort. Our room had a great kitchen. There were a lot of restaurants to choose from as soon as you got to the main road, which was great. Tacos Los Tarascos was fantastic and inexpensive with a great variety. We ate there several times. One of the restaurants we went to was called Ziva. It was a little expensive, but very nice, great ambiance, delicious food! We only took one excursion to a nearby island for snorkeling. It was nice. The restaurant we ate at was great. We rode the banana boat which was super fun! We didn't see as many fish as we have seen in the other places that we've snorkeled at, but we saw a couple of rare creatures we've never seen anywhere else. The entertainment was just okay. They didn't have something every night and the one night we went, there was a variety of entertainment about 10 minutes every hour. It was spread out to get you to buy food or drinks, which were severely overpriced. (Yes, knowing that resorts have high prices, I'd say these were 40-60% higher than most that I've seen at the 4 resorts we've been to over the past two years.) We rented a car, but unfortunately the parking lot was a good distance from the entrance. The parking lot is super long, so it was anywhere from a 5-10 minute walk to our car. Luckily, we quickly decided to pay the (about) $25 dlls for valet parking for the whole week. This was a great decision, a huge time saver, and they almost always had the car ready before we got to the entrance. The beach access was very nice. Of course the ocean water was wonderful and warm. Overall, this was a great experience. We enjoyed our time there very much.…
We wanted to get away for thanksgiving after such a crazy year and saw this hotel was taking every precaution for COVID. It was just my wife and I that traveled for a full week. We had a one bedroom, it wasn’t an ocean view, but we had a pool on our balcony that definitely won us over. From check in to check out all the employees were very friendly and made us feel at home! The pools were beautiful and the lazy river was quite relaxing! The restaurants were great as well as the snacks poolside. (You must try the nachos!!) We booked our tours and airport transfer by Sebastián Hernandez of www.ACAPULCOFORALL.COM - he came recommended by a friend and so happy he did! But Sebastián can be found doing a Google search ACÁPULCO FOR ALL BY SEBASTIÁN HERNÁNDEZ send him an message and he will respond fast. There were many different transportation companies in this hotel but we were so pleased that we chose Sebastian! He was friendly, spoke English well, and helped us with our broken Spanish. He was so informative and helped us whenever we had any questions!…
Some unfortunate situation in the check in process and the room assignment make me start with a bad mood. As always other areas of services has top class. Cleanliness, sizes, recreation and restaurants all good.
