Grand Mayan Resort is very luxurious, rooms are very big and spacious. It was just my wife and I, but if we would have brought our kids or even a couple of friends, there still would have been more than enough space for all. Important for us was they have ceiling fans in bedroom and living room. A couple restaurants were closed during our stay, but all others were great with good food and drinks. 2 happy hours everyday with 2 for 1 drinks. We really enjoyed our stay. The only negative was how many vendors approach you on the beach. For the most part, you can just politely decline and they will move on. If you check the weather in Acapulco prior to coming and it says there will be rain everyday, don’t put too much stock in that. Out of our 7 day trip, it only rained twice, and each only lasted about 10-15 minutes, then the sun came back out. As far as transportation to and from the airport, we booked it in advance through acapulcoforall.com Sebastian Hernandez is the owner operator and is fantastic. Aside from the shuttle he provides, he also conducts many tours of the city. If you book your airport shuttle with him, you get a discount on the tours, helps you save money. I suggest you look up his website for full details. He speaks very good English, is very knowledgeable of the history here and his van was super clean and comfortable. After he dropped us off at the hotel to check in, he came back a few hours later to take us to the local market (there is also a Wal-Mart and Sam’s Club near by, but we wanted a more authentic experience, so we opted for the local market) to get food/drinks etc for our room. Can’t emphasize enough how good he was to us during our stay. The hotel will want you to book through their services, but we felt very safe booking with Sebastian. We found him here on TripAdvisor prior to booking. He was always early for every pick and always available when we called. More about the facility. The beach space that is for the Mayan property was more than enough space. There are cabanas on the beach and umbrellas and chairs. They are first come first serve, no rental fee. It did not matter what time we went down, there were always spaces open for us to use. Same with the very large pool, many lounge chairs, umbrellas and tables to choose from and always got a set every time we went. The pool has 3 or 4 very large swim pads, perfect for kids, and the depth of the pool was 4 feet everywhere else. The Lazy River was awesome and not crowded at all. They also provided big plastic inner tubes to float in, very relaxing. All three, River, pool and beach had perfect temperature water. We were surprised at how warm the water was at the beach as we thought it was going to be like Cabo, which their water is cold. Tip: wear your flip flops to get down to the wet sand as the dry sand is hot. Only other negative was our first room had an A/C water leak on the second day, they promptly came to fix it, and thought they had, but when we woke up in the morning, the kitchen floor was covered in water. We did move rooms, to one with an ocean view. However, the A/C in that room did not very well. The AC in the bedroom kept it cool enough to sleep, but I don’t think the one in the living room cooled at all. But the room was very nice with a huge balcony with lounge chairs and sit up chairs and it’s own private small pool. Awesome to soak in that pool and watch the waves come in. Overall, very nice facility and we will be coming back.…
