I just returned from a week at the Grand Mayan Vidanta in Acapulco. This was my second time staying at a Vidanta resort, and first tome as a member. My experience at the Vidanta in San Jose del Cabo was very mixed, so I was unsure what to expect. Turned out to be a wonderful stay. The property is absolutely beautiful. It has gorgeous pools, some nice restaurants and many things to do. One of my favorite things was to go on the Lazy River, a raft ride which went around the property. So much fun. We spent many days beside the pool. All but one of this days were just great. We were taken care of by Maria, Ricardo and Carlos. They were all fantastic. Our hostesses were Arcelia and Deya. They both were very attentive and very helpful throughout. Cafe Lago for breakfast was also really good. The staff there also really attended to our needs. One of the project directors (I think) was Gina, and she was also very helpful and accommodating. While I would not be in any hurry to return to the Cabo loction, I will most definitely return to Acapulco.

Great day! We started off by booking a great hotel shuttle from the airport with acapulcoforall.com with Sebastian Hernandez. He took us to see luchadors one night and also on a tour of Acapulco. We even used him to take us to the grocery store and back to the airport. Always on time and always very courteous. The room was great and the food was fantastic. The golf was amazing! I can’t wait to come back. I might actually retire here.

I did not stay at the Grand Mayan at I stayed at the Mayan Palace but nevertheless I had a good experience the resort is very friendly kids friendly beautiful beach... we got to enjoy a whole body massage at the Beach area! but most of all our highlight of the trip was booking three tours with Miguel Angel Sotelo, who was our tour guide. Now I can call him our friend!! he was so knowledgeable of the whole area of Acapulco so he made our trip very enjoyable but at the same time we had a chance to learn about Acapulcos history and lifestyle. He tended to us in such caring ways, he was always on time, always friendly and patient, that I have nothing but good things to say about him. If we were to visit Acapulco again, I will request him again. Acapulco is SAFE, It's beautiful and the location of the Mayan resorts is gorgeous at all times you feel super safe and comfortable ❤️ staffing makes the place to be enjoyable as they ALL were beyond nice to us.. Food is good..happy hours 😋 the 👌

Grand Mayan Resort is very luxurious, rooms are very big and spacious. It was just my wife and I, but if we would have brought our kids or even a couple of friends, there still would have been more than enough space for all. Important for us was they have ceiling fans in bedroom and living room. A couple restaurants were closed during our stay, but all others were great with good food and drinks. 2 happy hours everyday with 2 for 1 drinks. We really enjoyed our stay. The only negative was how many vendors approach you on the beach. For the most part, you can just politely decline and they will move on. If you check the weather in Acapulco prior to coming and it says there will be rain everyday, don’t put too much stock in that. Out of our 7 day trip, it only rained twice, and each only lasted about 10-15 minutes, then the sun came back out. As far as transportation to and from the airport, we booked it in advance through acapulcoforall.com Sebastian Hernandez is the owner operator and is fantastic. Aside from the shuttle he provides, he also conducts many tours of the city. If you book your airport shuttle with him, you get a discount on the tours, helps you save money. I suggest you look up his website for full details. He speaks very good English, is very knowledgeable of the history here and his van was super clean and comfortable. After he dropped us off at the hotel to check in, he came back a few hours later to take us to the local market (there is also a Wal-Mart and Sam’s Club near by, but we wanted a more authentic experience, so we opted for the local market) to get food/drinks etc for our room. Can’t emphasize enough how good he was to us during our stay. The hotel will want you to book through their services, but we felt very safe booking with Sebastian. We found him here on TripAdvisor prior to booking. He was always early for every pick and always available when we called. More about the facility. The beach space that is for the Mayan property was more than enough space. There are cabanas on the beach and umbrellas and chairs. They are first come first serve, no rental fee. It did not matter what time we went down, there were always spaces open for us to use. Same with the very large pool, many lounge chairs, umbrellas and tables to choose from and always got a set every time we went. The pool has 3 or 4 very large swim pads, perfect for kids, and the depth of the pool was 4 feet everywhere else. The Lazy River was awesome and not crowded at all. They also provided big plastic inner tubes to float in, very relaxing. All three, River, pool and beach had perfect temperature water. We were surprised at how warm the water was at the beach as we thought it was going to be like Cabo, which their water is cold. Tip: wear your flip flops to get down to the wet sand as the dry sand is hot. Only other negative was our first room had an A/C water leak on the second day, they promptly came to fix it, and thought they had, but when we woke up in the morning, the kitchen floor was covered in water. We did move rooms, to one with an ocean view. However, the A/C in that room did not very well. The AC in the bedroom kept it cool enough to sleep, but I don’t think the one in the living room cooled at all. But the room was very nice with a huge balcony with lounge chairs and sit up chairs and it’s own private small pool. Awesome to soak in that pool and watch the waves come in. Overall, very nice facility and we will be coming back.

The hotel is beautiful and the rooms are good. The only thing is the talk you have to do the first day it takes too much time, they said you it will only be one hour and I end spe@nding 3 hours. If a customer said no, you should let them go and does not insist. The spa it´s great I took a massage that was quite relax. I recommend you go there to relax.

We greatly enjoyed our stay at the Grand Mayan. From the atmospheric Mayan themed entry to the well-maintained grounds and water features, this was one of the best resorts we’ve ever stayed at. The lazy river was a great way to cool off, with a relaxing 15 min circuit of the landscaped grounds. We never had any trouble finding a free lounger to relax on. We stayed in a 1 bed suite which had a private plunge pool on our deck. We dined at locations within the resort and found enough variety and quality that we didn’t need to go outside. I’d particularly recommend the 5 course fine dining experience of “Le Petit Chef”. As well as great food with themed cocktails for every course there was a surprise I won’t reveal that made this the most unique dining experience we’d ever had. We used 2 drivers/guides, both previously recommended on TripAdvisor: We used Sebastian Hernandez from acapulcoforall.com for our airport transfers. Our flight was delayed an hour, but he was there ready for us. He also offered the option of a grocery store stop on the way to the hotel, letting us stock up on breakfast and lunch supplies given that we had a kitchen in our suite. He also took us on a city tour later that was quite informative, and he took some great photos and shared these with us. He was very responsive in responding on WhatsApp. We also used Baldo Gomez, booked through the official tour/taxi service from the hotel. One highlight with him was a longer run out to the Tehuacalco archeological site. He walked round the site with us translating on behalf of the local guide.

Just returned from Acapulco after a 2 weeks stay at the GMVA. Being our first visit to Acapulco, we were quite apprehensive booking this vacation because of all the negative reviews and warnings about Acapulco concerning safety. Once we got there we realised that most of it was just hype and Acapulco is as safe or dangerous as any other place in the modern world. Grand Mayan Vidanta Acapulco was a totally pleasing, satisfying and one of the best vacation experiences so far. The resort is very well managed and maintained. The staff were extremely respectful, helpful and accommodating. GMVA has excellent restaurants serving great food and refreshments, well equipped gym, amazing swimming pools, a great beach front and well kept rooms. The staff were very attentive and any and all issues were dealt with quickly and efficiently. The resort is grand with amazing views and very elegant. If I have to whine about anything it's just that our room didn't have an Ocean view and they wouldn't give us one (even when they had ocean view rooms available) as we were not members of the Vida Club. They promised me disount on restaurant bills for attending the sales meeting, but did not stick to it since my wife wasn't with me for the meeting. One other warning to beach bums (like us) - the sea is very rough here and hardly swimmable. Our special thanks to the front -office staff, housekeeping, restaurant staff (Ricardo at Ola Mulato Bar), who were all helpful and went out of their way to make our stay comfortable. A special recommendation to use Ramon Escobar (ramon.e5cobar@hotmail.com) Cell:744 448 3971, the tour guide who can also pick you up and drop you off to the airport, drive you for grocery runs. He is very knowledgable, speaks great English, very pleasant and a joy to be with. He also runs a catering business from home on weekends serving home cooked Ribs, Burgers etc. Another reco is Marco who supplies seafood on the beach if you want to try something different other than the food from the resort restaurants. I would return to this place any time.

Beautiful facilities with multiple clean, well-maintained pools and uniformly excellent service. We had a gorgeous room with a view of the ocean and a pool on the balcony! Diana at the Joy Squad was adept at welcoming our active 6 year old. To clarify, since it wasn't clear on website, Joy Squad has daily activities like crafts and bingo by the pool, but they are not a drop-off-your-kid for hours service. They do have books and games to borrow. (Bring your own beach ball or any floaties for pool.) There's also an on on-site arcade and Mondo, a bar/restaurant that has a pool table and games. All our transportation and tours were with the wonderful, experienced, warm Ricardo Alvarez, alverez1178@hotmail.com . He is professional, friendly without being pushy, and has a nice sense of humor. He works with the Mayan's on-site tour service. We did the city tour (markets, cliff divers, lunch, etc) and lagoon tour. We especially enjoyed the lagoon - it's a nearby view of a completely different habitat of mangrove trees and many birds. We stopped first at an animal rescue to release baby turtles. I avoid tourist animal interaction experiences (like dolphin shows and swims) because they are harmful to animals. This turtle release was about stewardship while also giving the tourist a fun, educational experience - not exploitative. After the lagoon ride was a lovely local restaurant. Because we had a kitchen in our room, the only places we ate out besides on tours were the breakfast at Cafe del Lago (excellent), il Forno (very good), and the poolside Ola Mulata (very nice, with a 2-for-1 happy hour). It was strange to be so isolated from the rest of town that you need to take a taxi to get off the property, but the grounds are lovely. Overall we had a fun week at the Grand Mayan.
