This was one of our go to places for the day when I owned a villa in Acapulco, and always had a great time. Snorkeling, great restaurant and great service. Really miss those days. That was years ago before they remodeled it by new owners. Ah great memories.
Older hotel with beautiful views and unequaled service. Staff is very professional and attentive. Rooms are very clean with good amenities. Pool service is outstanding with great drinks and the food in the onsite restaurant is so delicious. Prices are high for the area but keto In mind you are in the most amazing place in the area . We found all the staff to be fine nice ! Thank you Wendy, Eddie and all the staff . Try the spicy tuna rolls and breakfast is so good here as well . For a great place to eat walk 10 minutes to la Cabana it is awesome and very affordable we loved their mole and great breakfast deal ! We felt very safe at the hotel and in the area . This is real Mexico and you need to relax don’t be afraid if it’s a bit rough around the edges. People here are kind and very nice . Just go enjoy I know you will be blown away with your experience. Heads up bit great coffee here so you might need to walk to the oxxo in the morning like I did . Bring extra hangers fir clothes and get some beers to keep in your room .…
It is considered a "pet friendly hotel" so we brought our dog. We would have her with us all day and on our second day there we left her in the room while we had dinner at a restaurant outside the hotel and left our dog in our room. She is well trained and 6 years old. While we were gone staff came into the room to do the check for the mini bar/Turn down service and left the door open and my dog ran away from the room because it frightened her. The staff weren't able to stop her and let her leave the hotel. I'm not sure if you are aware where the hotel is located but its gated in a not-so-safe area. The hotel staff did not truly look for her. When we arrived back after 2 hours of her being missing they let us know. THEY NEVER CALLED US EVEN THOUGH THEY HAD TWO NUMBERS OF OURS, we would have immediately come back if we knew she was missing. And when we arrived back all they did was tried to blame us for not having her on a leash in the room???? HOW IS THAT PET FRIENDLY? The manager tried yelling at us and tell us we weren't welcome at the hotel. When all our concern was to find our dog. We proceeded to go in our car and look for her in a pretty dangerous part of Acapulco. Thankfully because of the very kind locals we were able to find her after a couple hours, but it was so scary for us because we were desperate to find her. She is like a child to us. The hotel did not help at all. All their(manager) concern was to let us know they have zero liability. The manager is extremely rude and we felt exhibited zero humanity. Never once did we receive an apology and she even let us know we were never welcomed again, and told me when I started crying to "shut up" because I would wake guests. It got to the point guests of the hotel started looking for the dog, and the kindest chef of the hotel got in his car with his son to help us. Everyone you could tell was in shock of how it was being handled. I am still in shock, as someone who considers their dog family, I can't believe the treatment we receive. I want to reiterate we never were called when it happened. If we would have came home later I'm sure we would have never found her. I am so so grateful to all the locals and people who helped and I feel so incredibly lucky to have found her. But I feel it's important to let everyone know because I know many people here have pets. I would recommend strongly if you have a dog and want to take it to the beach/Acapulco do not stay at the Boca Chica. I would also like to note we were iffy about staying here again because on a previous experience( our dog didn't come that time)the manager was extremely classist to a girl who was a caretaker of someone staying there. She told her she couldn't be in the pool and her reason was that she wasn't wearing a proper bathing suit. She has on exercise shorts and tee shirt , most likely because she didn't have a bathing suit. The manager did this in front of everyone at the pool. Luckily the family that employed her stood up for her and even got her a bathing suit so the manager couldn't make it an issue.…
We stayed for a week over Thanksgiving and absolutely loved it. Relaxing, warm people amazing views, access to the ocean, pool and great food. Awesome burger, drinks...and Japanese Cuisine. Thelma, Wendy, Arturo and the crew were fantastic! Enjoyed the spa, kayaking, lounging, walking up the hill, eating and drinking. Put it on your bucket list. Staff ratio is fabulous, smiling people. Think retro Palm Springs in Mexico and you will not be disappointed
I visited this vintage hotel just to spend the day last December and its absolutely fantastic, in front of an island, you can snorkel or kayak here, the restaurant prices are a little high but the location it's worth it. Will visit again for sure!
We arrived at boca chica - about an hours drive from the airport... the hotel is not really in the best neighborhood and you pass through most of the town before you arrive there. The hotel itself has been standing since 1957. It is full of charm and charisma as would befit the 1950s / 60s... kind of feels like a place James Bond might have liked to stay at during his time off. There are 36 rooms here and only 5 were in use when I visited on July 4th. As I Titanium member I was upgraded from a basic garden room to what’s known as the sunset suite. Low and behold we arrived just as the sun was setting. The suite offered beautiful views of the beach and pool below as well as the rocky cliffs nearby. Now the rooms are fine. Comfy bed, hot water, shower, small tv.... but one thing that I really wasn’t prepared for is that there is no glass windows at all! It’s all simply wooden shutters and mosquito nets! You can feel the breeze being through your room and you can hear the sea all night long. I have to say that I’ve got used to such white noise having lived in New York for 13 years but if you’re a light sleeper you will hate it. Also, yes, it has that old world retro charm but I really think they should have still put glass in the damn windows so that the place feels finished and let people decide if they want to hear the ocean all night long. Also another thing to be aware of is the railings in the balcony’s and walkways are extremely low - just below waist height! It made me cling to the walls as I made my way around. We ate at the hotel restaurant when we arrived. Service was a bit slow but the food (fish) and chicken soup were tasty. The venue overlooks the ocean and you can hear the waves slamming into the rocks as you dine. The following morning breakfast was served from 7-midday. Things are laid back in Mexico so the extended breakfast hours are welcome. Continental breakfast is offered to those with Plats or Titanium as well as many of the $99 rates. The breakfast is all a la carte and the portion sizes quite small to be fair. That said, you can buy other cooked items off the menu. For two people it came to an additional $17 on top of the free continental offerings so I didn’t think that was too bad. There’s no beach at the property but there are plenty of places to enjoy the pool area. The swimming pool overlooks a gorgeous bay complete with little boats bobbing up and down on the waves. There is a public beach nearby too with a market place and food offerings. I didn’t bother to explore this. Our driver really advised us not to go, but I know that others (on trip adviser) have done so and enjoyed good, cheap, tasty, Mexican street food. I don’t think I would stay more than a night here - but I am glad we came by. There are no Marriott properties in this part of Mexico apart from this. For $99 which includes breakfast I thought it was worth a shot to see what it’s like. It’s definitely different. The place has character and charm. I probably wouldn’t return unless they glassed up some of the windows though. That said, it’s a quirky hotel and a Design hotel at that... and reminds me why I would often browse the SPG directory to see where I should head to next. Let Acapulco be it!…
I booked a reservation months prior to my scheduled stay and received the confirmation of the reservation only to receive an email from one associate asking me to adjust my dates. Subsequently I received an email from a different associate asking if I wanted two double beds or a king size. Unbelievably, I received a third email telling me they had to cancel my reservation due to unavailability. I’ve never experienced such a mess of a simple reservation that was completed and confirmed all online only to essentially have the reservation given away. Even with the offer of giving me a room, I declined due to concerns of arriving with issues.
We were very fortunate to find this small boutique hotel located in Caletita beach. A comfortable four and a half hour drive from Mexico City. It’s a Starwood property and platinum membership gets you an upgrade which was welcome along with a complimentary margarita or drink of your choice. Sofia at the check inn was very courteous and we were surprised to find our suite super spacious with all the amenities. The pool is nice but crowded on the weekends. Breakfast was great along with the service. It looks like we will make this place our go to location in Acapulco!
A beautiful hotel with very friendly and helpful staff. Some of the shine may have come off the renovations of a decade or so ago, but somehow that makes it all the more comfortable. We spent 5 nights here and didn’t want to leave. The food is top notch. Try to Aca Brown cocktail. We ordered it several times. Go to this hotel!!!
What a perfect escape . We loved the architecture and feel of the property.. fretted with such a great staff and loved our room with amazing views. The private swimming cove was a delight.. and the restaurant is a cut above with lots of fresh and Japanese influenced options. This hotel celebrates the past but is completely kept up in style! Memorable!!! Will be back for sure... just perfection.
