First of all - best margaritas in Cabo, maybe in anywhere Mexico or otherwise, had while dining at El Gusto one of the two nights stayed at Posada La Poza. I believe Juerg made them and they were so delicious and strong - definitely recommend dining at El Gusto and trying them. I spent the rest of the trip comparing and missing them! Stayed 2 nights in one of the junior suites. Getting to the hotel is the only downside as you will need a car and the road is a bit rough, but that leads to the quiet seclusion. The grounds are just gorgeous and close enough to the ocean to hear the waves crashing at night. The room was large, the sheets super soft, and had a small jacuzzi outside. You stay in a place like this for the thoughtfulness as you meet and see the owners creating connection and service to all the guests. Everywhere had little artistic touches, the breakfast was delicious and different each day, and the menu for dinner was fresh and curated. I loved the privacy, the peacefulness every night. If you're looking for an experience outside of the huge loud resorts, definitely spend some time here.

Of course, no one is traveling right now. So our flight here from San Jose, Ca had 40 passengers. But here we are in Todos Santos at Posada la Posa. Possibly the most beautiful place we’ve stayed in Mexico. We pretty much have the place to ourselves. Surprised the Baja is empty. They are serious about masking and distancing here. And, they are doing rapid Covid tests all over town and at the airport. So it’s no big deal to get your Covid test before you hop on the plane home. But if you’re coming to the Baja, You really need to check out this place. It is gorgeous. Just sitting on our patio listening to the waves. All your cares melt away. It’s a great time to be here.

Posada La Poza is at the end of a dirt road just outside of Todos Santos and, once you arrive, you may never want to leave. An intimate boutique with just a handful of rooms, Juerg & Libusche are wonderful hosts who go out of their way to make sure you have everything you need. Out highlight was ordering of a delicious bottle of hand-selected Sauvignon Blanc from Valle de Guadalupe delivered to us with a snack poolside. Other highlights are the life-affirming sunsets, gorgeous grounds full of local plants and ping pong and boules set. Oh and, of course, the food is delicious.

My husband and I discovered this special place over 10 years ago. Driving down a dusty road, we suddenly encountered this magical oasis in the midst of the desert. Set on a lagoon with a short walk to the beach and ocean. With the lush tropical landscaping all around, birdwatching is incomparable! The friendly European owners, Libusche and Juerg, have created a beautiful and serene retreat. Libusche is a resident top artist in town. Her paintings and sculptures are on display throughout the rooms, restaurant and bar area. Indeed we have taken home several of her works of art throughout the years! Juerg is the main chef in their restaurant El Gusto. Each day he visits the local markets to create the freshest, healthiest and most delicious meals for his guests. The very reasonably priced rooms are spacious and elegantly simple. With terrace views of the ocean and/or lush gardens. There are only eight rooms arranged in several hacienda style buildings throughout the resort. Makes you feel like you’re on a private retreat. A most welcome change from the large resorts and crowds. Indeed my husband and I have traveled around the world, but we always return to Posada la Poza. It is one of our special “Happy Places”. Thank you Juerg and Libusche for all your warm hospitality!!! See you next March.... Deb and Scott

So disappointed, and here's why: -Property is located in a dense, run down neighborhood, and difficult to find -It is a 15 min walk over boulders and brush to the ocean (snakes!). Serious footwear required. -Jackhammering in neighborhood at 7a and continued throughout the day -Owner would not refund our cancelled nights, even though there were several rooms still available. (We had offered to pay for 1 night cancellation, even though the jack hammering made our stay unbearable) -Fireplace is dangerous and inconvenient. You must sign a waiver. Gas valve outdoors needs to be first be opened, then you go inside and reach to the back of fireplace to light the pilot, burning your arm. -Hotel "bar" area closes at 8p, and no alcohol is allowed in the rooms. -Unheated Pool and hot tub area are pitch dark at night, but they are both too cold to enjoy anyway. -The double size jacuzzi bathtub in master suite is useless, due to a sign in the bathroom asking to conserve water. On the plus side: -The dinner and breakfasts were delicious -The bed was comfortable

Dear Bonnie and Graham, thank you for having taken the time for a review. After your unexpected departure on the3rd day after 1pm, it was obvious that there was something wrong. We are really sorry that the construction site in the vicinity used the jackhammer after 7am just on Grahams birthday. Despite our immediate intervention on the site, the damage was done and our spontaneous offer not to charge that night obviously did not change anything. As we explained to you in detail, it was against any rules to decide at 1pm to leave with immediate effect without being charged for the 3 remaining nights (minus one night without charge, remaining 2 nights to be paid. So far for the financials and your reason to leave without prior notice. The builder causing the noise was aware of the wrong doing and there was never any noise again. Our neighbors were not pleased however that their neighborhood is being called “rundown”, We are a mixed community at La Poza, originating from Mexico, the US, Canada, England and Switzerland. It is a community which was built in the course of the last 15 years. It is true that the path to the beach around the lagoon is not flat and you have to watch your steps, but so far, all of our guests managed to get to the beach without problem. But there is also a dirt road through the palmgrove which also leads to the beach. Much to our surprise you had already seen snakes which is extremely rear for the time of the year you had visited. As for the fireplace in your room: it was suggested by a large travel agent to have a waiver signed as a protection for the guests and the owners as there would be hardly any hotel offering an open gas fireplace and some guests could leave the room without switching off the open flames. With a waiver, one would more easily remember the safety issues. Living in the desert with limited water resources, we point out to this effect as a reminder, but without limiting the water consumption. There is no rules or restrictions whatsoever of the use of water in the rooms. To finish, there is no mentioning of alcohol consumption in the room. We are offering a variety of drinks in the minibar and in addition have the information of the wine list and cocktails served to the rooms on request. Maybe you have this from another hotel still in mind. We are sorry that you have this bitter aftertaste just because of one unpleasant experience by a construction site on one single morning. We wish you nevertheless many safe and interesting travels. Jurg Wiesendanger, Owner

We had a wonderful 4-night stay at Posada La Poza! Our hosts, Juerg and Libusche, and their staff made us feel very welcome. And we loved the location. The hotel is located on the outskirts of Todos Santos and is surrounded by a peaceful desert garden. Birdwatching from our balcony and around the garden was a delight, with many hooded orioles, gila woodpeckers, hummingbirds, and doves flying between the palms and cacti. Posada La Poza borders a freshwater lagoon and overlooks a pristine beach and the Pacific Ocean. The path around the lagoon is a great vantage point from which to view pelicans, egrets, herons, frigates, cormorants, ducks, stilts and other bird species. Although the beach is unsafe for swimming due to the wave breaks and undertow, we had fun taking long walks along the shoreline while watching for migrating whales and local dolphins. We enjoyed relaxing by the pool, breakfasts overlooking the garden, and two delicious dinners at the hotel. Our hosts also gave us excellent recommendations of nearby restaurants for lunch and dinner. All in all, a very peaceful place to relax and disengage from the hustle and bustle of life!

we spent three days here as part of a recent holiday in Baja. we wanted a few days to relax and chill out after a lot of driving and flying, and Posada La Poza really fitted the bill. it overlooks a lake and the beach (where we spotted whales' blowholes from the rooftop in the evenings). It is set in beautiful grounds where I spotted orieles, woodpeckers and hummingbirds amongst others. as the hotel only has a few rooms, it never felt crowded, and we often had the pool to ourselves. the food was excellent as were our hosts. it was the perfect place to stay and relax for a few days

We were looking for a beautiful and relaxing place that felt far away from any crowds or pressures. Posada La Poza was a perfect destination. The rooms (only 8) are spread out through beautifully landscaped desert grounds. Our room was on the first floor, and had a small veranda overlooking the gardens. Quiet and lovely. The hotel itself has a nice dining area and lobby. Guests were all very friendly and sociable. Juerg and Libusche were perfect hosts, responsive and warm. The hotel overlooks a lagoon and the ocean, and there is a deck where you can have lunch or watch a perfect sunset. The beach, which is a short walk away, is stunning and totally pristine. We enjoyed the food and had dinner there 4 of 6 nights we were there. The town of Todos Santos has some nice art galleries and restaurants, including a gallery with Libusche's art, which also decorates the hotel. On the last day there I had an awesome massage by Javier that Juerg arranged on short notice. We could not have been happier with our stay.
