I stopped to see the hotel and grab some lunch. Perfect! The service was great - Rosie (sweet potato) was wonderful and attentive. I ordered a glass of vino verde and some shrimp tacos. It was quiet and the perfect setting but the food was just as lovely. If you’re heading to Cerritos for a beach day, make a stop for lunch - you won’t regret it.
I can not say enough great things about this place. I will be returning. I have stayed at many Bunkhouse hotels. Liz has done perfection yet again. I hope to met the amazing woman behind such unique oasis hotels. Over the top outstanding! I had a few “White Lotus” moments. They really need to film a season here! A M A Z I N G
A very isolated hotel. Lovely staff. Good food. The location is a bit of a problem. thoughSomething was awry the minute we went to the beach. Why was there tension between the local fishermen and ...us? The tourists? We did our research and you owe it to yourself to do so as well...otherwise we remain ignorant travelers. The internet will provide the information regarding the hotel's controversial beginnings.
Ahhh this place! Not only is this a beautiful, serene setting with the sound of waves crashing, blue ocean water, hip design, a gorgeous pool and attentive servers… but it’s more than a boutique hotel. Another review said it’s a community, and I understand that now that I’ve experienced it. They’ve built a culture of warmth and service, and if you want to be part of the community, bienvenidos. (Or you can be left alone if that’s your vibe!) We booked this trip for my bf’s birthday, and I spoke to the concierge staff in advance. When we arrived, they wished him “feliz cumpleaños” immediately and had a negroni ready in moments. (I had forgotten they had asked me on the phone what his favorite drink was so it surprised me too!) This personal and thoughtful feel is how our long weekend continued. We said we hoped to experience the local food and people- so Carlo the concierge organized a food tour that was one of the highlights of our trip. In a private taxi, he accompanied us to 3 or 4 different local palapa-covered roadside restaurants and an artisan workshop. Carlo translated and told stories from his childhood, explaining how and when people eat this type of food, and in some cases they let us try preparing it! He told us it was only his second time doing this food tour- but that he had a passion for the food and people in Todos Santos and he loved being able to share his culture with guests. What a treat! Speaking of food, the hotel restaurant Benno is incredible – the food rivals anything from Los Angeles or other foodie towns (try the green mole daily fish special or the mushroom risotto at dinner and the machaca mini burritos at breakfast!), but it’s the Benno team’s service that makes it extra special. We were lucky to have Edna as our very warm and happy server each night (she’s thrilled to be doing her “dream job” and it shows!) and Diana made me the most amazing spicy margarita – she figured out exactly how tart and how spicy I liked it and delighted in my satisfaction with her talents. She also made my boyfriend’s negronis perfectly. We asked how—she said she makes her drinks with love and I believe it. And Sergio the wine sommelier knows his stuff- Mexican wines can rival that of Napa if you have the right guide! For the day of my bf’s birthday I wanted to do an extra special brunch, so I enlisted Carlo’s help. He kept everything a secret but that morning… wow! The staff all knew his name and that it was his birthday! We were blown away by the thoughtful touches to his birthday brunch, set up at a quiet, private ocean-front table with a view to die for. Omar our server made my boyfriend feel like a celebrity- he was one of the many, many staff-members Carlo had coordinated with to make it special. To top it off, the food and the cake (baked in house by Lupita) was deliciously gluten-free… because he knew I was GF …! That blew my mind. Summary 1. The hotel is small and the concierge staff is EXCELLENT at personalizing the trip to your desires. Tell them in advance what you’d like to do and see. If they know a little about you and what you hope to gain from the trip, they can personalize the trip even more. 2. Get to know the staff. Take the time to ask them their names and a little about them. They’re amazing people and so kind. 3. Rooms are simple but more than adequate. You won’t spend that much time inside, anyway. Most, if not all, have an outdoor deck or patio off the bedroom area. 4. Beds are very comfortable and the sheets are top notch. If you need something, the staff are there within moments. Freshly baked cookies or sweets are delivered to the rooms each night, which is a nice touch. 5. Eat at Benno! Okay to go out too, but no other local menu was as tasty and creative as Benno. Service is stellar! Thank you again Hotel San Cristobal. ¡Hasta muy pronto!…
We had a fabulous week here. The food and drinks are fresh and delicious. The views are spectacular -including of the migrating whales. The rooms are clean and comfortable - although tbh the ocean view rooms were very loud because of the big January surf. But that’s hardly a complaint. The staff are helpful and friendly. Carlo, the concierge, planned a food tour experience for us - tasting the favorite foods of the locals, and hearing their stories - that was really the highlight of our trip. We highly recommend you ask for this experience. We also loved our cooking class with chef Ramon - it was a demonstration class and we learned how to prepare a fish and make ceviche and sashimi. We enjoyed many other offerings at the hotel - hiking, yoga, bingo and relaxing. The only thing I would say is sometimes the music at the pool is just too much. Just enjoying the sounds of the ocean is nice too.…
Although I loved the hotel, there were several situations with children in the pool and as guests. The hotel is ages 13 plus. I had to complain about the children which was stressful and the staff did not handle it well. They need to be firm about adult only policy
Don't need to read any further, just book it! Hotel San Cristobal is the dream relaxing destination for the design forward foodie traveler. The Hotel staff is phenomenal: kind, attentive, and helpful. The food at the pool bar and Benno is SO fresh, delicious and unique. Don't sleep on the incredible breakfast options and relaxing massage offerings. The views from the rooms are unparalleled and the hiking options are stunning. This is a hidden respite and so worth the travel from crowded and cheesy Cabo. We were fortunate enough to host our wedding here and all of our guests LOVED it. Highly recommend Hotel San Cristobal and we can't wait to be back for our anniversary.
This is a very nice boutique hotel. It’s off the beaten track and besides the hotel not much to do around there but eat and swim. (Perfect in my book)! The only disappointment was finding out they tried to destroy the local fisherman’s beach. They finally left a bit of the beach for them but only because they had to. The gringos are greedy and cultural aspects go by the wayside. Kinda happening all around the area. Doubt if I’ll come back or recommend but it is quite beautiful there ….
We can't say enough about Hotel San Cristobal! Attempting to keep this review short and helpful, these are the highlights: *Service! Reception (Jesus), Concierges (Bernie, Carlo), Benno Restaurant (Edna), and everyone else - no bad service! *Setting! Escape to nowhere. As a boutique hotel, it's not about marketing and upselling, it's nothing short of peaceful and relaxing. There is nothing else around, so it's secluded, private, and stress free. *Massages! They will bring in massage therapists for 60 or 90-minute massages, which may be on a trellis covered balcony where you hear the ocean waves, or in the cool, quiet chapel. *Yoga! Offered to guests, a perfect way to start the day (8 or 9am). Instructors Mary and David both exceptional. Lightly attended and easy to moderate. One day includes an easy 10-15min hike to the outdoor yoga platform (sunscreen!). *Benno! The hotel restaurant is high-end and great for breakfast or dinner. more options are available at breakfast. Some items are definitely high-priced, but overall, it's a great value for the taste and presentation. *Rooms! We had an ocean king and it's exactly as advertised. Beautiful view, crashing waves, comfortable. Take note - no mini fridge (we usually buy snacks like bread & cheese) so you have the pool bar and restaurant as options. coffee is available for guests at the restaurant. *Pool and Hot Tubs! Perfect temperatures, great view, never crowded. There's so much more we can say, but the 5-star reviews you'll find here are all true. So are all the pics, so we'll just add a beautiful sunset photo from the restaurant over the pool area.…
Hotel San Cristobal is an experience not to be missed. From the tasteful rooms, ultra cool pool vibe, the glorious beach, and the mountain views - this place is what vacation dreams are made of. If you’re looking for an authentic Baja experience, right next to arguably one of Mexico’s finest Pueblo Magico (Magical Town) - Todas Santos - this is the place to be. Every single staff member was warm, welcoming and helpful at all times. A highlight for my husband and I were the guest drinks the Manager Thomas put on one evening where we had the opportunity to not only chat and share a drink with other guests but also some of the staff. This spirit of bringing everyone together sums up Hotel San Cristobal - it is a community built on respect and appreciation for the locality and the diversity of its international visitors. Notable mention to Carlo our concierge extraordinaire - we enjoyed our morning hike up the mountain very much. Carlo also introduced us to the resident Hotel dog, Cristobal, who a previous guest saved drowning from the ocean. The hotel team adopted Cristobal, and he is now a joyous addition to the team that makes this spot such an incredible place to stay.…
