Visitors are not allowed in hotel. However spiders and late night bands are. Parking is $8.00 USD every time you leave the property. Room was not as advertised: musty smelling bathroom with yellowed tub and sink, missing safe and coffee. Male staff member at front desk was unaccommodating and confrontational.

Less than 25 miles from the Border, this beautiful Hotel is fantastic. With a historical feel Best, mixed with great amenities, such as shopping, sparkling pool, cool jacuzzi. This place is the BEST place in Rosarito to spend the night at for the Mexico Border town Trip. The parking is wonderful with many spaces available, and only about $30 per day. The Views from our rooms are usually AMAZING (we usually get the highest room, maybe 2nd or 3rd most expensive room. It is is in my opinion that this is the BEST location in Rosarito! Close to all great nightlife, commerce, and dining. Outside you have horses and Baja bikes to ride in the sand for a great price. The staff is friendly and professional! Bernie Lawrence Jr. LOVES this Place !!!!

Over the years we have stayed at this old Spanish style Colonial hotel many times, as its conveniently located only 10 miles south of the U.S boarder for Weekend escapes. The car park security checks our car in and out, but unless we were going to Ensenada or to visit the wine country, we found it easier to walk around town. As the hotel is right in the heart of Rosarito, and within walking distance of most of the better bars and restaurants in town. We always pay the first night in advance over the internet from the USA, and the final bill upon leaving. The Hotel is old on the outside but the rooms are clean, there was bottles of complementary water, and we had a good view of the Ocean and Papa’s & Beer next door from our balcony. Check out the wood-beamed lobby decorated with both tile and painted murals from the1920's depicting different scenes from Mexican culture. There is also an Olympic-size swimming pool, not heated in winter although the hot tub was. Both overlook the beach, which can also be seen while dinning on typical Mexican food in the Azteca restaurant. Unfortunately, the food was not as expected, I ordered something with beans and rice accompanied by a couple of very sad soggy flour tortillas, and a cup of WWII style navy coffee. The Hotel was founded by Manuel Barbachano in 1924 as a small hunting lodge, he also built Baja's first power station, telephone company, and paved highway towards the boarder, so that the rich and famous Californians and thier guests, could gain easy access his hotel, during the prohibition years. Today a freeway connects Rosarito with the Mesa de Otay area of northeast Tijuana and the Otay Mesa Port of Entry to the United States. The hotel will give you a fast pass for the boarder crossing if you ask. Due to so many famous females having visited the hotel, like Rita Hayworth, Lana Turner, Joan Bennett and Kim Novak. Kate Winslet even Marilyn Monroe who it is said, took off her shoes and run in the sand. That above the lobby entrance is a sign saying, "Through this door pass the most beautiful women in the world." I am sure that there are many more, who were the escorts of such guests as Orson Wells, Edward G. Robinson, Gregory Peck, Vincent Price, Robert Preston, Spencer Tracy, and Anthony Quinn, even Frank Sinatra and recently Robert Redford. Did Robert Stack celebrate his birthday with champagne in the Azteca Restaurant? Close by is 20th Century Fox location where, Titanic, Master & Commander and Pearl Harbor, were filmed. And believe it or not but Rosarito is the adopted hometown of Thomas Markle, father of Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, so they say. TIP: Only a short drive away is Puerto Nuevo famous for its lobster's.

I came in the off season in December. And this is a fun beach side gem. It is not a 4 star resort, but it has charm! If you love history like I do, you will enjoy learning all the old world/Hollywood glamour. There's pictures/plaques all over to teach you about it! This hotel was built in the same vein as the famous hotel Del Coronado in San Diego, although time has treated them differently. Rosarito is a tourist town, so there's not too much to worry about. There's plenty to see walking around by foot. I did not eat at the hotel, but the bar prices weren't too bad. I look forward to returning during the summer months to see how bustling it can get. the impressive view from the room was a nice bonus as well. Make sure you also enjoy some Puerto Nuevo-style lobster while your in this part of Mexico!

Nice location on the beach. There are 3 buildings. You can’t go to the other buildings or pools if you are in cheapest building. Cheap building is solidly built. Relatively quiet. Bar is a good value.
