We dropped in. The receptionist gave us an early check in, 2 cookies, dog food, 2 free happy hr drinks and breakfast is included. Breakfast is scheduled to start at 7. They werent quite ready until 7:20. Dont be that one rude person who helps themselves to the buffet before its ready. The breakfast was a really nice spread. They have safe parking and water views. There is lots of activity right out front and its walkable to the square. Our room was giant and our beds were comfy. The room itself was tired looking. I’d stay there again.

View: 10 out of 10. Breakfast Buffet: 10 out of 10. Slightly different every morning…all great choices. If you can’t find something you like, you need to rethink your life. Service is amazing. Good coffee. Rooms are just fine. Not 5-star, but if that’s what you’re looking for…clean, they have everything you need. No hair dryers, so plan accordingly. Ask for a frig ahead of time, if needed. Nice shampoo/conditioner/shower gel. Pool area is lovely, nice chairs/loungers and shade, if needed. Would definitely stay here again.

I had to book at Oasis when my preferred hotel didn't have room. I'll start with the pluses: on the Malécon, with lovely views of the entire bay and islands. Nice pool in back. Clean rooms with good housekeeping. Dogs everywhere. Now the many minuses: cold, unwelcoming front desk staff. Safe didn't open and, despite multiple promises to open it, no one ever did. Cesspool smells midway across veranda. Loud parties until morning on the riverside playa. Paperthin doors between units, so bring earplugs. Saltillo-tiled floors, so you hear every footstep or furniture scrape. I went out early most days and didn't want housekeeping, so had to beg to get more coffee and bottled water, but staff wouldn't give me more than one coffee pack at a time--like I was going to re-sell them... So I relented and allowed housekeeping just so I could get daily coffee. Maybe the worst thing was the shower design: a "modern" design (retrofitted over the original design) with no door, so soapy water ran freely across the floor and into the bathroom proper. You couldn't adjust the showerhead, which was fixed. For all that I paid over $300 a day for 7 days.

We really felt like in an oasis, far from the noise, plastic and busy world. The breakfast was excellent, always with fresh and different products. The room was nice and clean. The shower was warm and with a perfect water pressure. The location was on the beach, which it was perfect. The room 25 was having a common door with the room 24 (where we could hear, sometimes, noises and other people coming and going).

The hotel is quaint and us, typical Mexican architecture, and is at the end of the waterfront Boulevard, so you don’t have the traffic or boombox noise from the cars. However, there are dogs and roosters on the property that might wake you up early in the morning. The room we had was very large and nice, and thankfully the air conditioning worked very well; but there was a room above it, and it could be quite noisy when the person above us was stomping around and especially when he/she was moving the wooden furniture around on the tile floors. Just know that if you get any of the rooms numbered 17 through 22 you will have a room above you. So, if you are a somewhat light sleeper, you will be woken up whenever your neighbor above wakes up. The staff are very polite and accommodating, but surprisingly don’t know answers to some very simple questions. They have a nice breakfast buffet, but don’t expect the lunch or dinner choices to be like a restaurant, as their food choices are very limited. The hotel does not have any chaise lounges on their beach, but they do have a nice pool area, and the pool is a saltwater pool, which is great. However, they don’t have enough beach towels for all the guests at the hotel, so you might want to bring your own. Also, there are only five chaise lounges, and they don’t all have cushions on them. Advice for fisherpeople: you might want to just arrange your fishing down at the marina when you get here. There are several companies as well as independent guides available, and their prices are more reasonable than the price the hotel will charge you. Also, the hotel does not guarantee that the guide who takes you fishing will fillet your fish, and the hotel charges $20 per night to store your fish (if you were planning to take some home). Our friends arranged for fishing from a guide at the Marina who they said was really excellent and got them some good-size fish and he filleted and kept them frozen for them for free; all for a lower price than the hotel charged us. We haven’t stayed at any other hotels in Loreto, so maybe the Oasis is the best hotel in town. All that I have to compare it to is a house we rented last year up the coast from here, and also the experience we had at a hotel in La Paz, so take all this for what it’s worth and hopefully some of these tips were of value.

I’ve travelled a lot, 3 million air miles and thousands of hotel nights, and I’m usually pretty generous w praise. But this hotel annoyed me. It’s a shame. Loreto is fabulous, one of the most incredibly beautiful and likable places I’ve ever been. And this hotel is in great location. On beach, edge of town. And it’s unique and quirky. Nice dogs and pet rooster. But this place was painful. Surly unhelpful front desk. Having to sign a promise we won’t bring a cooler to the pool. A $50 charge on credit card as a deposit for key and remote. Room that smelled as mildewy as the laundry basket for a high school football team. I’d stay there again. But it wouldn’t be my first choice. Or second. Or third.

Went in July for Dorado fishing. Very hot weather. Pool and bar were both closed. Staff couldn't understand why I needed ice water!! Sunrises were fantastic. Should have stayed somewhere where the pool was open

I’ve stayed here before with moderate success, although I believe the hotel is overpriced. Room 38 has a very nice view of the water with a nice patio. Check in was smooth and the staff friendly. About 9:30 at night I wanted to take a shower but there was no hot water. It wasn’t even on. Cold only. At 6:00AM I tried to take a shower. There was water flowing from the hot water spigot but no hot water. Not even lukewarm. Just plain cold. There was long black hair on the shower stall floor that was left behind by the previous occupant. I elected not to shower and eat the “free”breakfast instead. It’s a buffet and sadly, all the food was not at all warm. When I checked out, I asked the staff for a partial refund as there was not hot water. They refused. The impertinent young man at the desk told me that cold showers were good, implying I should take one. Needless to say that didn’t go over well under the circumstances. DO NOT STAY IN ROOM 38 UNLESS YOU VERIFY THERE IS HOT WATER BEFORE MOVING IN.

Room Tip: Avoid room #38 if you can. The occupant of room #37 told me that they didn’t have any hot water...

The Oasis Hotel looks amazing in the photos - but the reality is very different. It’s an old hotel desperately in need of a refurb. The rooms are like ones in a cheap motel with an overpowering smell of disinfectant. It’s in a great position overlooking the sea but everything is tired and worn out. Avoid.
