The staff of the hotel is extremely friendly and corteous, starting from the front desk, valets, waiters, cleaning ladies; I emphasize this since it was outstanding. The rides either in the Van to the Golf Course or the golf carts to the Marina where always prompt when needed, basically no wait except when some other guests wanted the same ride to the Golf course, in the case of the Marina it was at the moment that you needed it, same applies when a restaurant or store called the hotel for a pick up to return to the hotel.
Rooms, not extravagant but spacey, extremely comfortable beds, beautiful shower , separated from sink and privatized toilet. This makes it a unique set up for not being an extravagant grand luxury hotel. The only detail in my preference is that the pillows where not soft, but my bad, because I never asked if there was an option.
Breakfast buffet is not extravagant, but good with local cuisine options and with the option of ordering your personal omellette creation.
Overall I woulddefinitively recommend this hotel.

Our experience with the CostaBaja Resort exceeded all expectations and I hope to make this a regular getaway spot. The staff are incredibly helpful and friendly. The concierge team was always so helpful and thoughful. The rooms are nice and each day I seemed to learn more about the benefits of staying here. It gives you easy access to restaurants at the Marina, at the Beach Club (a private club down the beach that you CB guests can pay $15/day to use, but for dining and the bar it's free), and the Sunset Lounge and El Cardon that are up on a hill with gorgeous views of La Paz and the sunset. CB staff will drive you for free to all of these places, in a golf cart of van. Some of the places are also walkable, if you prefer. They have golf carts that you can rent for the day.

The facilities are kept clean and very nice. Given COVID, they are being extremely safe with hand sanitizer, taking temperatures at restaurants, utensils brought in plastic, etc. Everyone is very good about wearing the masks (and properly).

The beach is very accessible and lovely. There is an area to rent kayaks and paddleboards - both very worthwile!

A taxi or car to downtown La Paz is about 20 minutes. I tried Uber, but not very reliable. There don't seem to be many drivers and they don't like coming this distance from downtown. I had several cancel on me - I assume when they saw my destination. But taxies are safe and reasonably priced.

We did treatments at the spa. I very much enjoyed my 30 min massage and 30 min facial. I also had one of the special treatments and a pedicure, these by the same staff member. She was a bit rough and I think could use a bit more training. Definitely was trying hard and wanted to do a good job. Unfortunately, I had more neck pain after the massage and the pedicure was a bit rough at times (I even have a bruise under my foot).

The room doors are a bit thin so you can hear the hallway noise and doors are hard to just from the outside so they slam a bit. This was a bit disruptive for sleep and when I had to do some remote work. Earplugs helped.

It feels like a community here, with such lovely people and amenities.

I hope to come back here again and again.

It was our first time in La Paz and it was a great experience. We just returned from a 5 night stay at Costabaja. Costabaja is an upscale resort surrounded by beautiful calm turquoise ocean. It is the perfect choice for a relaxing getaway. The entire resort is very well kept and immaculate from the rooms, to the grounds, to the beautiful open air lobby with sea views. The rooms are nicely appointed with contemporary dark decor. The beds are comfy. And the balcony is a nice size. We had a beautiful view of the ocean and also of the pool. The AC in the rooms works great. It feels very secure with 24 hour security, it is gated, and there is a guard tower up front where they check in every taxi that comes in and record the name of the driver. The resort has COVID precautions in place. They have you wash the bottoms of your shoes before entering, assist with sanitizing luggage, sanitize rooms, the entire staff wears masks at all times, the lobby is open air, and at the steakhouse they even serve the food wrapped in plastic to keep it fresh and clean. What really sets this resort apart is the amazing and caring staff that goes above and beyond to cater to you and make sure you are well taken care of. They never make you feel like you are bothering them no matter how many requests you have, they graciously help with a smile on their face and they are very genuine. The entire staff up front is wonderful and you will be warmly welcomed upon arrival each time you return back to the hotel. The concierges RAFAEL and ELENO really made our stay memorable by helping us plan out every detail, making recommendations and reservations for us. They both are very patient and very happy to help. They helped me decorate our room to surprise my boyfriend for his birthday and they did an amazing job. It turned out beautiful! Unfortunately we had a short trip to the hospital and I was put on bed rest during the trip because I am pregnant and they had a wheelchair waiting for me when I returned back to the hotel. I have stayed at plenty of resorts from Turks and Caicos to Mykonos to Tulum to the Bahamas and I can honestly say that the staff at Costabaja truly provides the best experience possible especially Rafael and Eleno! Thank you for a wonderful stay that we will remember forever!

This was our second stay at this hotel.
First, the hotel service personnel were very helpful and friendly. No complaints there.
The front desk, not so much.
The rooms are nice, and it's a nice hotel, but.....
There are too many things about this hotel which we did not like.
Strikes against the hotel include;
* loud "music" and noise at the pool - which was incredibly irritating repetitive thump-thump-thump noise. NOT a peaceful relaxing environment.
* limited seating and there is no view of the ocean (or anything, really) from the pool.
*the only way to get ice is to call and grovel for some ice to be delivered to the room (tips)
* all automobile parking and automobile access is provided by bellmen (tips)
* foam pillows in the room were very uncomfortable. Feather pillows were requested, but only one was provided
* a random charge of $425 was placed on our credit card until we checked out.
* "pool view" room was purchased, with a request for an upper room. No response to the request was received to inform us that "pool view" rooms are ground level. Upper rooms are considered "ocean view", although they overlook the pool.
* the two on site restaurants are pricey and not impressive.
* no hot tub at the hotel. A daily charge of $15 per person for the "Beach Club" (associated with the Puerta Cortes property) is required to have access to a hot tub, and a better pool overlooking a beach, and access to the Beach Club restaurant and amenities.
* no business center.
Apparently, due to heavy rain in September, flies were swarming throughout La Paz during this visit, and the problem during our time at the Beach Club was terrible.
As hotels in La Paz go, this is a nice hotel, but we will be exploring other options on our next visit.

When we checked in they tried to overcharge us when converting US dollars into Mexican pesos. We had to cancel that payment and do it again while supervising them.

The “Free Wi-fi” they have is barely 6mb per second, you can’t even load the Google homepage. So if you have to work while staying here your 4G better be good.

The rooms have a connecting door to the another room, which makes it super loud and you can hear crying babies nonstop and couples fighting next door. This was so bad we had to change rooms.

They start blasting music at 9am in the pool area, so if you’re bored of your regular alarm you’ll be satisfied.

DON’T STAY HERE

First, I'll start with the good. Luis (front desk) and Marlene (Steinbeck's) both went above and beyond to make our stay very enjoyable. When we were unhappy with our stay across the street at the Hyatt, Luis convinced us to switch hotels with a competitive rate and made sure that we got settled into our new room very nicely with an ice chest and great recommendations to a fine dining restaurant (Cardon) up the hill. Marlene provided exceptional service at the restaurant and when we expressed some concern with caring for our service animal in the area, she offered some excellent suggestions and great tips for the area. The pool, public areas, and overall grounds of the resort were also great.

This review would be 5 stars, if not for some of the issues with the room and services on offer. When we arrived to our room, we saw that some time ago they had removed fridges from the rooms, so we requested one and were told that the hotel did not have these. However, they did send an ice chest with ice to our room, so this made up happy. Just be prepared for rooms that could use some renovation and modernization, but otherwise the rooms were fine.

The other frustration came when I was trying to break a $100 bill to tip some of the staff. The hotel apparently doesn't keep enough change on-site to be able to accommodate requests like this. I had no such issues just a few days earlier at The Cape in Cabo. Just a note here to hotel management that it would be helpful for you to keep more American dollars on hand for guest requests like this, or for you to install an ATM on the hotel grounds for things like this.

My family and I have been coming to this Hotel for over 10 Years now. We have spent Thousands of Dollars here. We love the location, we love the Beach Club, the staff is fantastic, the rooms are nice, and the food is good.

Recently things have taken a turn for the worse. The pricing on food and beverages has gotten out of control. One of our favorite amenities was the use of the Beach Club, in particular the Jacuzzi at the Beach Club because the Hotel does not have one. This last trip we were informed that just to access the Beach Club there is now a “Day Pass” fee of $25 Dollars per Adult and $15 Dollars per child. We are a family of 4 and just to walk in cost us $80 Dollars! They won’t even allow you to apply this money towards food and beverages. So in addition to the ridiculous “Day Pass” fees, we also spent an additional $120 Dollars on very overpriced beverages! We arrived late in the afternoon at the Beach Club, so I asked if my “Day Passes” could at least be rolled over to the following morning so that we could get a full day out of it, and I was emphatically told no. I was told that if I return the following morning I would have to purchase brand new “Day Passes” yet again.

The Beach Club has always been the best part about staying at the Hotel, especially since the Hotel seems to reject the idea of adding a jacuzzi to their own pool. For many years there has always been a reciprocal agreement between the Beach Club and the Hotel, and it was fantastic. We have also spent thousands of Dollars at the Beach Club over the years, but as long as this new “Day Pass” fee exists, I will not be returning to the Beach Club or the Hotel again. For a Hotel in La Paz, the prices are way out of control now and there are so many better options in Cabo to go to for the same or less money.

If you want a beach hotel close to La Paz this is your best choice. .

Pros:
Good sized rooms.
Washcloths in bathroom, also bolted in toiletries.
Free water in room, fridge, and coffee maker. TV with a good number of English and Soanish channels.
Nice amenities - two pools, one with a bar, one more for laps. Coffee shop. Small gym.
Beach club short walk from hotel. Sandy Beach. Had a small number of chairs and beds to sit on, though they filled up fast. Towels to check out. Very shallow water, so good for kids, but note that it's affected by tides.
It's in a marina community, so a small convenience store and some other restaurants and such a short walk away.
Looks like there would be sufficient parking if you drive.

Cons:
It's kind of far from things. If you don't have a car you'll need to get a taxi/Uber, or it seems the hotel might have a shuttle but I didn't use it.
Beds in the firm side (which might be a plus for others)
I found the food in the restaurant kind of meh. Breakfast buffet was very red meat heavy, so not worth the price if you don't partake.
Since you are far from La Paz, if you don't want steak and shrimp or middling pizza or pasta, you don't have many options. Food delivery doesn't go that far out. There are some restaurants in the Marina area you can walk to in 15 or 20 minutes.

Costa Baja Resort provided a great getaway. If you love beautiful water and a true decompress location this resort offers it all. Get as busy or as “do nothing “ but lounge this resort delivers. Located on the bay with the marina surrounding you this was a water enthusiasts must stay. Their concierge staff was incredible and knew where to book you no matter the request. Diving was very nice in the surrounding dive spots. The resort and all of the coastal shores around it were super clean and safe. Well done La Paz!
