I went to La Paz to recover from an operation , and we made a reseservation in advance for a suite at the Costa Baja Hotel ; however they were not able to provide two queen beds, but instead they offered me a “GREAT”condo. However , to my surprise the great condo was a small bedroom (part of a condo) with two beds , not a single chair in the bedroom, a small terrace, no place to put your luggage, a kitchenette ( a microwave and a mini bar in a closet ), a terrible bath, awful towels and linen, just one garbage can, pool with cold water , and no towels, no refreshments , in short a complete rip off, and all that for just $450 US a night. The next day I left to look for a better place, they told me that I was going to get my money back because they charged my AMEX almost $3000 in advance , but nothing so far . I talked several times with a person called Benjamin and with the assistant of Ramon Ascencio, they said that they were going to call me back but they never did, so they just took my money, just like that. Don’t take my word for it just look at the pictures, a complete fraud.

Costa Baja was my husbands and mine first vacation 6 years ago, and we fell in love! We always knew we'd get married here once that conversation came up. We planned our wedding prior to covid but of course everything was put on hold. When we asked to pick back up planning a year later the staff was very responsive and helped us right away! I can't say enough amazing things about the staff and the venue. They went so far above and beyond to help us and make sure that all of our guest and an amazing time and we were stress free! The decor, and the food we're far above what we expected. All of our friends and family had the best. time and are all obsessed with La Paz the way that we are. This is such a hidden gem for weddings, and vacations!

First, I'll start with the good. Luis (front desk) and Marlene (Steinbeck's) both went above and beyond to make our stay very enjoyable. When we were unhappy with our stay across the street at the Hyatt, Luis convinced us to switch hotels with a competitive rate and made sure that we got settled into our new room very nicely with an ice chest and great recommendations to a fine dining restaurant (Cardon) up the hill. Marlene provided exceptional service at the restaurant and when we expressed some concern with caring for our service animal in the area, she offered some excellent suggestions and great tips for the area. The pool, public areas, and overall grounds of the resort were also great. This review would be 5 stars, if not for some of the issues with the room and services on offer. When we arrived to our room, we saw that some time ago they had removed fridges from the rooms, so we requested one and were told that the hotel did not have these. However, they did send an ice chest with ice to our room, so this made up happy. Just be prepared for rooms that could use some renovation and modernization, but otherwise the rooms were fine. The other frustration came when I was trying to break a $100 bill to tip some of the staff. The hotel apparently doesn't keep enough change on-site to be able to accommodate requests like this. I had no such issues just a few days earlier at The Cape in Cabo. Just a note here to hotel management that it would be helpful for you to keep more American dollars on hand for guest requests like this, or for you to install an ATM on the hotel grounds for things like this.

My family and I have been coming to this Hotel for over 10 Years now. We have spent Thousands of Dollars here. We love the location, we love the Beach Club, the staff is fantastic, the rooms are nice, and the food is good. Recently things have taken a turn for the worse. The pricing on food and beverages has gotten out of control. One of our favorite amenities was the use of the Beach Club, in particular the Jacuzzi at the Beach Club because the Hotel does not have one. This last trip we were informed that just to access the Beach Club there is now a “Day Pass” fee of $25 Dollars per Adult and $15 Dollars per child. We are a family of 4 and just to walk in cost us $80 Dollars! They won’t even allow you to apply this money towards food and beverages. So in addition to the ridiculous “Day Pass” fees, we also spent an additional $120 Dollars on very overpriced beverages! We arrived late in the afternoon at the Beach Club, so I asked if my “Day Passes” could at least be rolled over to the following morning so that we could get a full day out of it, and I was emphatically told no. I was told that if I return the following morning I would have to purchase brand new “Day Passes” yet again. The Beach Club has always been the best part about staying at the Hotel, especially since the Hotel seems to reject the idea of adding a jacuzzi to their own pool. For many years there has always been a reciprocal agreement between the Beach Club and the Hotel, and it was fantastic. We have also spent thousands of Dollars at the Beach Club over the years, but as long as this new “Day Pass” fee exists, I will not be returning to the Beach Club or the Hotel again. For a Hotel in La Paz, the prices are way out of control now and there are so many better options in Cabo to go to for the same or less money.

I assure you that there is nothing more important to us than the comfort and satisfaction of every person who gives us the honor of being our guest. However, I clarify that the beach club is not part of CostaBaja Hotel, and due to the covid, the capacity has been reduced, so the administration has decided to apply a fee to enter. We have been working on new strategies and new amenities that help us to complete the satisfaction of our guests. We sincerely wish for the opportunity to host you in the future and revert this impression. Sincerely, Samuel Rodríguez Sales & Mkt Manager
