Casa Paradiso truly lives up to its name. Gloria and Richard pour their tender loving care in to this peaceful oasis in la Paz. The expansive grounds are meticulously cared for, and after your excursions, you can choose to take a refreshing dip in a cool pool or relax in a hammock shaded by palm trees. The hosts are warm and gracious and are very knowledgeable about the area. We stayed for only one night (because I mistakenly got my dates wrong) but I wish we could have stayed our entire vacation. It was a serendipitous to stumble upon this gem, with its beautifully curated grounds, traditional colorful Mexican decor, and delicious fresh breakfast. It is a destination onto itself.

Richard and Gloria have created a wonderful experience for guests. More than a B&B, this is a boutique inn that includes breakfast. Guest rooms are separate from the residence and face onto a spectacular courtyard with a pool as its centrepiece. There are many places to lounge and lots of room and privacy. Richard is an amateur scientist who can discuss many topics related to nature. He even has a lab on site for examining and cataloging specimens! He is more than happy to provide a tour if interested.
We met some very nice people there during our three-day stay. It seems to attract like-minded individuals. We even went out for dinner as a group of eight to celebrate two birthdays, with Richard and Gloria joining us. It was a fun and memorable night.
In terms of the nuts and bolts, our room (which had a library) was on the ground level, with two rocking chairs on the covered porch out front. Room and bathroom were great - room temperature was easily controlled and there was lots of hot water. The room has a king bed. Very comfortable. Breakfast included fruit and a hot entree and lots of good coffee. The location is a bit of a walk from the waterfront. A car would be useful or, even better, rent bikes for your stay, as the inn is just off the main bike path that is a showcase feature of La Paz. Highly recommended!

Gloria and Richard are wonderful hosts! Their home and gardens are beautiful, and our room was very comfortable and beautifully decorated. Located in a quiet neighborhood but walkable to downtown and the Malecon, we were very happy with the location. We love walking, and it was great built in exercise after a big meal. Breakfast was always delicious and Richard was a true pleasure to talk to over a cup of coffee. Richard, Gloria, and their staff were very responsive if we had any needs or requests. Some other highlights include the secured parking in their large garage, multiple lovely pets on their property, and cozy rocking chairs outside our door to relax in shade. Richard and Gloria organized activities for us at great rates with wonderful guides. We snorkeled with whale sharks one day and on another day we went to Isla Esperito Santo to snorkel with sea lions. Highly recommend both activities!!! We stayed for 6 nights and would definitely stay here again. La Paz is a wonderful place, as is Richard and Gloria's bed and breakfast. Thank you for a wonderful vacation!

I stayed here for 8 days with my partner and 3yo. Amazing communication, super friendly staff, great breakfast, super clean pool, easy/safe parking, and fast WiFi. But most importantly we felt so welcome here. Gloria and Richard are the most hospitable and friendly hosts. They arranged our tours, gave us restaurant recommendations, ate meals with us, introduced us to other guests, invited us to dinner with their family, served us breakfast and coffee on a day they didn’t have food service when we forgot it was a holiday, even bought toys for our kid! I loved getting to know them - Richard is a lovely conversation it’s and Gloria is absolutely hysterical. We are often self conscious traveling with a rambunctious toddler and they were beyond kind and welcoming to our kid, introducing him to the animals and even setting up a piñata for him. They are both so warm and made us feel like family. Skip the big hotels and stay at this gem - wish there were more places like this!

We just returned from what I would call everyone’s hope that the place they stay at is everything anyone would ever want when you are going to a new place for the first time Hacienda Paraiso proved to be just that and more ! The owners Richard and Gloria provided us with the best accommodation and experience that while we were there we already started thinking of coming back. It’s not juat a place to lay our heads after exploring the charm of La Paz. It’s so nice to start your day with conversations at the table where breakfast is served. We laughed and laughed with stories shared . They are such a funny and lovely couple . Elvia did a great job making Mexican home made food and in cleaning our room which by the way represented the culture of Mexico . Every furnishings inside and outside is nicely done including the art displays. I could go on and on with how wonderful our stay was you’ll have to experience it. Richard and Gloria thank you so much for a memorable trip there . You’ve created Hacienda Paraiso a place that meets every traveler’s wish to be in a place to create memories, meet new friends and enjoy every moment that we were there . See you again !!!

We absolutely recommend Hacienda Paraíso. Upon arrival we were greeted warmly and our luggage was taken to our rooms which were well appointed and decorated with an artist's eye. The area is safe and quiet--we slept so well all four nights we were there. Having a garage for our vehicle was an added bonus. Breakfasts were delicious and we enjoyed chatting with Richard and Gloria and getting to know other guests. The grounds are beautiful and relaxing, a great place to relax and recharge. Richard was very helpful in making arrangements for side trips. Thank you Gloria and Richard, we will be back!

I cannot say enough about our stay at Hacienda Paraiso de La Paz. We came with a very large group (12) and it was the perfect place for us to stay. The hosts (Richard and Gloria Laura) were so kind and welcoming. The grounds were stunning and maintained impeccably. Each breakfast was delicious and coffee was always ready a little early! Richard arranged some amazing tours for our group. There are a few restaurants and a grocery store within easy walking distance. This is a great place to make as a home base for adventures or just to stay put and relax. The rooms were lovely and very clean. We felt totally safe our entire trip. Our group didn't even lock the doors to our rooms! We wanted to stay for weeks. Our time to go came way too quickly!

Excellent bed-and-breakfast! Richard and Gloria are wonderful people, and the place is beautiful. Two block walk to the local beach, one mile easy walk to the boardwalk on the beach, and two miles gets you to downtown. We easily walked and Uber'ed back and forth a lot.
The rooms were spacious and comfortable, the service was very good, Richard and Gloria and their staff are very kind. Very relaxing. Best lodgings possible for our family.

We were spending a family Christmas in LaPaz. We rented out the whole B&B for 5 nights. The compound is completely safe, high walls and fences and a security code to get in. The staff is friendly and efficient. The breakfast was tasty and well prepared. We were able to prepare Christmas Eve dinner on site using their bar area and barbecue. The grounds were impeccable and the rooms were spotless. We felt like we were in a home away from home. Richard and Gloria are amazing host and hostess. They try to offer you services outside of the B&B. Richard arranges incredible well organized safe tours. He is a treasure trove of knowledge. Gloria is friendly and knowledgable. She goes out of her way to answer questions and offer suggestions. An amazing place to spend our time. Richard and Gloria made us feel like part of their family.

Just adding our belated 2-cents to Jonis’ review! Our stay at the Hacienda was wonderful and RELAXING! We even found time to sit in our rockers, bask in the beautiful garden (sometimes moving to a chaise or hammock) and READ! We were sorry that we didn’t get to meet Gloria, but we certainly appreciated her design and the humor evident in the décor—landscaping included wonderful Mexican artwork and crafts; there was always something new to “discover” in the beautiful garden and in our rooms—which were quite comfortable as well. And we certainly enjoyed Richard’s company as we relished our large and delicious Mexican breakfasts. We appreciated his stories and advice about navigating La Paz as well as his recommending and making arrangements for our amazing excursion to snorkel with shark whales. We were happy that we had not rented a car; the Hacienda was conveniently located so we could walk or take advantage of the Uber drivers-- who appeared almost instantly after we called—to get to wherever we wanted to go. We would gladly return.

Thank you so much for your beautiful and sincere review. I really enjoyed hosting the two (4) of you and sharing my knowledge of La Paz, Baja Ca Sur and Mexico in general. Our very interesting conversations over breakfasts, for me, are always a central part of my day. What can be better than sharing and learning? And saving you money on tours is my specialty. I am happy you found Hacienda Paraiso de La Paz so beautiful ( our Shangri la). Gloria, an artist type, will be very proud that you are one of the people that sees and appreciates the many detail incorporated into the Hacienda’s design. We hope that you all will be coming back to our paradise and meet Gloria. The party is only beginning! Richard

Hello
We were doing a sailing trip so only had a couple of days in La Paz. I would highly recommend a car rental as pretty difficult to get around without. We headed out to a couple of very nice beaches as well as did quite a bit of walking along the Malecon checking out the numerous bars/restaurants. If you choose to stay at Hacienda Paraiso the owner Richard is very knowledgable about the activities available.
There are more places to choose from in the La Paz area.
