Let’s start with the good. The staff is very friendly and responsive. The entry is very inviting and their location is great. Right on the malecón. I originally booked this through booking.com and unexpectedly had to cancel on the day we were suppose to arrive. The hotel was gracious enough to give me a credit to use at a later date. So I appreciate that very much. Unfortunately the room we had, even though being a patio suite was horrible. No where do they mention that your room will have stairs to 5 levels. If you have bad knees, are elderly or out of shape… DO NOT stay here. Enter, step down 3 steps to the living area, down 2 more to the dining and kitchen. Now back up to the entry, go up at least 7 steps to the bathroom and second bedroom. Up at least another 6 to the main bedroom. The patio room did not actually have a patio, it’s a door with cactus and rocks about the size of a tiny bathroom. You cannot walk out into it. The front entry does however lead you to a public patio down more steps and you can sit there if you’d like. That’s the review of getting your stair master exercise. Now the lighting. During the day of you open your curtain to the living area you get some light but now you’re exposed to everyone who walks by to leave. I mean everyone. At night it’s so dark we turned on every single light upstairs and down and still felt like we were camping by candlelight. The rooms feel like you’re in a dungeon. Dark and cold. The kitchen and bathroom had the best lighting. Not sure if the rooms that actually have a view are any better with light but be warned… there’s more steps to get there! Last bit about parking: they have a arrangement with a parking lot called Servimar about two blocks from the hotel. They give you a better rate for all day parking. We left our car there for 2 days. You have to leave them a key in case they need to move it. And they did, and they scratched my bumper!! Not a dent but a big enough scratch that it can’t be buffed out. 😡 The owner was going to come to meet us but wouldn’t be there for an hour and we just wanted to get out of La Paz. Sadly I do not recommend this hotel.

I loved everything about Casa Al Mar! The pictures online definitely do not do this place justice. Our room was absolutely beautiful!! The location is perfect as well....you can walk pretty much anywhere. I had breakfast included with my stay and the restaurant is next door. Breakfast was very good! You are alloted about 250 pesos per person, and if you go over, you can add the bill to your room, which is convenient. Everyone that worked the front desk was friendly and super helpful with any questions we had. I would definitely stay here again when I return to La Paz!

Nicely located, rooms were decorated cutely and very large. It is located right across the street from the Malecon and next to good restaurants. The inner courtyard was nice and the staff was pleasant. All in all a good stay and would recommend it.

This was one of the coziest, cutest hotels I’ve ever stayed at. The room was more like a condo, with three floors and lots of space. The courtyard was gorgeous and the staff was so friendly. Just outside was the malecón, and you can walk up and down along the beautiful coast! A hurricane came through when I visited, and the hotel was incredibly accommodating to ensure my stay was as comfortable as possible. I definitely want to go back and highly recommend it!

We stayed in the studio room here at Casa Al Mar. We would advise if possible a different room as this one was a bit airless and had no views. There are better rooms with views of the sea which we would have preferred. However it is in a good location on the sea front. The restaurant next door does lovely breakfasts and the staff are friendly.

Room Tip: Avoid the studio room. Try the fruit cup for breakfast. We enjoyed food at Nim and Nemi...

Lovely suite facing malecon and water. Spacious, sm kitchen area, but no paper towels, no salt, pepper, no coffee, and one fork. Couldn't turn bath sink faucet handle as it felt like it would break. The bed was comfy, but constant music in evening, punctuated by louder cars cruising, but normal for Malecon. Had admin problem re: honoring the cancellation policy. Hotel? Expedia? Finger pointing. Billed me for night I had cancelled, didn't stay. Staff was very attentive, if ineffective.

I would not recommend this hotel - especially if you are staying on a weekend night - the Malecon is very busy, and local musicians camp outside the windows with their amps turned all the way up. The hotel rooms have a lot of steps- and no railings - so very poorly designed and dangerous. Our room fronted the Malecon - so we moved for the last night, only to find that the other rooms have windows that are open to the patio where the restaurant is located and open until Midnight.🙃, and also loud. However - if you like to party and stay up late this might be the perfect place for you! The 3 oceanfront rooms do have nice sunset views. Try the Club Baja a few blocks away…

We spent a full week here in July. We had one of the rooms that had a balcony overlooking the Malecon. The mornings were wonderful on the balcony, but the sun would prevent us from using it in the afternoon until it was setting. Nevertheless, we loved the balcony and spent a lot of time out there. The hotel is very close to some wonderful restaurants and shopping. There is some traffic noise that we could hear for a while later in the night, but it wasn't enough to disrupt our sleep. We really loved the place and would highly recommend it. We will stay here again.

Casa al Mar was recommended by the concierge at another hotel we use in La Paz but it as at Covid capacity when we wanted to stay. Casa al Mar is located about mid way on the La Paz Malecon. As such parking is very limited however the hotel itself is great. Built like small townhomes with kitchen and sitting area on the first floor and bedrooms on the second and third floors. I’d not recommend this venue for those that are walking impaired or who can’t climb stairs, but we found it to be a very good location with easy access to the many restaurants on or near the Malecon.

We loved our stay here. The hotel is very cute, right in the heart of the Malecon. It is walkable to the marina where you can catch a whale shark tour and there are many excellent restaurants in the area. The food and drinks at the hotel were excellent. We enjoyed the vibes, plants, and views. The staff were very friendly.
