The food is extremely average and the drinks are so-so. BUT the gorgeous patio and perfect view almost makes it worth it. It's a fun place to go if your expectations for cuisine aren't high. I have never stayed at the hotel.
When visiting Playas de Tijuana it is worth a trip to La Fonda. A short 40 minute drive and you arrive at a wonderful restaurant. Great menu. Superb Service. Excellent Food. A short walk and your on the beach. Absolutely beautiful! ENJOY!
Went in to order some tacos and drinks. Worst mojito I’ve ever had. When confronted the server, he didn’t do anything about it. It tasted like they used tap water for ice and artificial lime juice. Very gross and the drinks were $6. Highly do not recommend
Beautiful view on outdoor patio enjoying margaritas, a very short walk down stairs to the sand. Chips are yummy, made with flour tortillas. Rooms are simple but clean. Very friendly and accomdating staff.
We stayed one night at the La Fonda Hotel to attend a concert nearby. We arrived Sunday morning, just in time for Brunch, it was incredible! All of the food was fresh, there were food selections to satisfy any palate and the Bloody Mary's were perfect. After Brunch, we checked into our second floor balcony room, yes there are only stairs, but that was not a problem for us. The view was amazing and the bed was comfy. The rooms are pretty basic, there's no TV, but who needs other amenities when the Pacific Ocean is calling right outside your balcony? We went to our concert later that day, had a great night's sleep and treated ourselves to massages the next morning at the Spa. Check out was a breeze and we were off to Ensenada after another delicious breakfast, refreshed and rested. When we unpacked at home, I realized that I was missing a Spiral Notebook that I travel with, to track our activities, expenses and manage my To Do List. It is essentially my hard copy hard drive memory system. I called the La Fonda Hotel and spoke with Letti at the front desk. I was absolutely thrilled when she told me that it had been turned in by the cleaning staff and was in safekeeping. I arranged to pick it up yesterday and am pleased to say that my memory system is again intact. In closing, La Fonda may not be the fanciest Hotel on the beach, but it has history and charm. Every staff member that we came in contact with was friendly and professional. Everyone made us feel like we were special guests AND they kept my little notebook! Thank you, Thank you Thank you! …
