I was here for a few days and certainly could have stayed longer. Olga was a great help and arranged for various things for us- like transportation back to the airport. She can also arrange things like a tuk-tuk into the little town. Beach massages and laundry services. The beach is literally out of the front with a calm waterfront and lovely hammocks and lounge chairs. Things to know. It's all open air (rooms/showers/dining). There are NO screens or AC in the rooms or dining area. They do have floor fans. The showers are open air too and there is no hot water. None of this should be discouraging but my travelling friend was a bit taken aback- even though she made the reservations. Dinner and lunch and evening mojitos are all offered but they're not free- there is a cost. Breakfast was included and it's fruit and eggs and coffee. There is a small honor bar with beer and some soft drinks. We stayed in 2 different rooms. Both just fabulous. Very clean and breezy if you leave the windows open. There are fans too. We had mosquito nets (there are no screens on the windows). We liked the room on the middle floor the best. Lovely outdoor shower with tile & greenery and a balcony. A very well kept boat arrives every day around 9 to take you on a Rosario Island tour, lunch (not included) and a short time at a lovely white sand beach. The price of the boat varies upon how many people are actually going- and they only take COP so check the details before you commit. It's very isolated- nothing is within walking distance. But you can arrange for a tuk-tuk to take you around. Arrange for a beach massage. She can arrive after 4 pm, brings her own table and supplies. It's wonderfully relaxing and the masseuse will split an hour between 2 people if you ask ahead of time. (I booked a whole hour- just fantastic) Just loved this place and would go again!

Loved our stay except the food. Lovely rooms and location. However, can only give 3/5 as it was recommended to us as catering to vegetarians, but was a daily struggle to get a decent meal :( If you eat fish you will be fine

The hotel is enchanting and magical and you really feel the love that Olga has put into creating Playa Manglares. The bedrooms are all white and are so calming and the mosaics in the bathroom are beautiful, at night it is so serene and you can sleep with all of your windows open and listen to the sea. The girls make the most delicious salads and grilled fish each day which we loved and you are so close to the Rosario islands with crystal clear water that you can go snorkelling in.

We stayed at Playa Manglares for 3 nights at the begining of a trip to Colombia, and couldn't have asked for a better introduction to the country's Caribbean region. If you're looking for an all-inclusive beach resort with all the amenities and distractions of home, Playa Manglares is not for you. We spent our days relaxing on the beach, swimming in the warm, calm waters of Bahia de Barbacoas, drinking freshly made mojitos and eating absolutely delicious food. There is a rustic luxury to this place that I've never experienced before. If falling asleep to the sound of waves gently lapping the shore, taking outdoor showers among tropical flora and eating fresh, locally grown food (eggs from their own hens, fruit from their trees) sounds like your idea of paradise, you'll love it here. We also took the Rosario Islands boat tour and loved it. Unlike the tours that depart from Cartagena, the guides are Baru locals and you're only joined by fellow Playa Manglares visitors, so it's a relaxed and personalized experience.

The hotel and rustic and lovely. It’s very relaxing and the staff is incredibly nice. The food is also delicious and served family style so it’s a great opportunity to chat with other guests. It’s just a short drive from town so makes for a nice break from the city. The bed is comfy, private terrace is lovely, and the outdoor shower is beautiful. Plus they have the best mojitos!
