Stayed 2 nights in Yararaka. The hotel is something special, because it looks like a barn with 1 big straw roof. The walls of the rooms are not going untill that roof, so all the rooms are connected. That means that you can hear everything from your neighbours and if someone gets the light on, you see it in your room. So, you have to be lucky to have quiet neighbours, and we were lucky!! I must say, we slept very well. The rooms are very basic. But we were lucky again to have a big room for 5 persons, and we were only 2. So we had place to put our luggage on the free beds. Bathroom was big, but again very basic with only cold water in the shower. But everything was clean. Even the breakfast was basic, but you can leave without being hungry. Small swimmingpool with some seats, and that was nice. Very central location, close to shops and restaurants and a nice walk to the river Magdalena.

We went for one night and ended up staying two. This place is good, spaces are nice and comfortable. It is recomendable to stay after a long walk, Tatacoa is really hot, their pool makes a perfect rest !! Food is good, if you don’t like sugar be sure to say so before they serve you breakfast. Attention by the staff is amazin! Stay there

It looks much nicer in pictures than on real, the roof is high but the walls are short so the noise among rooms really odd, we hear kids and families in all rooms talking and kids crying , not ok for me, staff is real flat and the boutique only relay on the name. There are better choices without the lost of intimacy. The pool os tiny and they just have two sunbath chairs, so get it clear hostel ok,hotel no it is not a hotel.

Yararaka offers an interesting open-roof design which is lovely to see, but doesn't offer much in the way of noise protection. Be prepared for a night with earplugs if you're a light sleeper, and an eyemask to protect against light from other guests' rooms that spills over the walls. The rooms are comfortable and spacious and with appealing design, if not a little rustic... but that's all part of the experience! If you're not exploring the desert at night, take time to walk around the town of Villavieja and chat with the locals in the plaza. It's a quaint little town that beckons you to sit back, relax with a bottle of Club Colombia, and chat with neighbours. Breakfast is included, and there's a nice pool to cool off in... strange that it's orange in colour and not blue... but lovely nonetheless. A good option for a night or two.

Spacious basic but clean rooms with few amenities. The walls dont reach the traditionally constructed ceiling so there is potential for noise between the rooms and the public courtyard. Shower never ran hot. Little choice at breakfast, relatively sparing even for Colombia. Pool in the courtyard and lots of places to sit. They gave us the wrong room key and had to fetch someone to work out the problem. On the day of our depart a team of painted women doing tele-sales of perfume set up outside our room and we had to manouvre all our luggage around them while the staff watched. No restaurant.

As there is not much choice in Villavieja, this is the best you can choose. However, it is expensive and the staff seemed very indifferent, not looking up from behind the front desk and giving the shortest answers possible. With Tatacao desert certainly worthwhile to visit, tourism is not yet developed here. No eating possible after 20:30 in Villavieja. The rooms are under one big roof which makes that you can here everything from the neighbouring rooms. If there would have been other options we would not have stayed here, but with no competition this is the least worst you can choose.

It isn't your typical hotel by ANY stretch. It's an open roof concept, just like a "Maloka" but with pvt rooms instead of "hamacas" (Google it if you don't know what a Maloka is). So if you are not ok with listening to what others are doing in their rooms and need total privacy, this is not a hotel your should stay in. No need for AC, as a "Maloka" stays cool and well vented. It is clean, comfortable, well located. The hotel only has 12 rooms each room with a pvt barhroom, I believe it's adults ONLY (which is a +). Bring LOTS of insect repellent!!!!!

The staff was kind and helpful since the very beginning, the room was big, all in white with the basics. The breakfast was fine, omellete, fresh fruit, juice and coffee or milk. As an advice it is better to sleep here and then grab a mototaxi or a tuctuc to the dessert than sleeping in the desser. TOTALLY ADVISABLE !

Clean, pretty, friendly, breakfast it's included, unfortunately the bathrooms are not comfortable (they are big but that's it) It's important to notice that there is not AC, but it's fresh enough. Probably the best option in Villavieja where most hotels are not good.

The main reason people visit Villavieja is to explore the impressive Tatacoa Desert. If you do not want to spend the night in a tent in the desert there are a few options in Villavieja. Yararaka hotel is a big house with a center pool, with a dozen or so rooms. Considering how hot this place is, there is no AC and each room comes equipped with a small ventilator. Be prepared to experience rooms with no own ceiling just a huge wooden ceiling for the whole property. The rooms are completely basic. That means... yes you hear your neighbors. Be prepared as well to be even more intimate if you share a room because the bathroom inside each room has no door, for the bathroom or a separationm between the shower and the WC. This turns the night or two you spend here in a different experience. The people that attend the hotel are very friendly. Parking is included in the yard of a house two blocks away.
