A friend who lives locally recommended this pub to us and he was spot on with his description. A lovely inn with that authentic old charm to it. The food was excellent too I had the surf and turf the steak cooked just to my liking and I even managed to eat a dessert. I had a yummy chocolate fondant.... More

Very special birthday surprise for my partners lifelong friend. The place had to be dog friendly which it was. We arrived and were given a very warm welcome. It was a while before our friends arrived so we enjoyed the sitting outside having a relaxing drink watching the local medieval festival. Our friends arrived so we took them on a... More

We stayed here for three nights with our spaniel, and think it was probably one of the nicest breaks we have had. Appleton is a very quiet, quaint village and everyone seems very friendly and welcoming. The food was so good, we ate there every night - breakfast was also superb. Real ale was great. Lovely walks and drives around... More

Very warm welcome, great beer, great food, especially the homemade steak pie. The accommodation was clean and tidy, with everything you would need provided. It happened that we stayed on a busy night and the staff managed this very well. Thank you John and team. We would stay again.

40 friends had a pre-booked lunch one fine July day at this excellent pub / restaurant. Although only a few miles from where we live many of us had not been before but following this excellent lunch I am sure many of us will be returning. The food, cooking, pastry, presentation and general quality of great home cooking was something... More

Booked a two night mid-week stay via Trip Advisor and Booking.com and delighted at the result. Exceptionally welcoming arrival in the traditional, cosy bar area, which later turned out to boast real ales and a good selection of malts. Our room (no.3) was in the converted outbuildings at the rear of the pub, but joined to it. Nicely decorated and... More

We were looking for a guest house to stay in while on a weekend trip to Castle Howard and found The Moors Inn by chance. Located in the tranquil village of Appleton-Le-Moors where the sheep roam freely around the village, The Moors Inn is a traditional pub with loads of character. We were greeted by the landlady who showed us... More

Had lunch today and the food was fresh and home made, just what we wanted! Staff very friendly and the food and drink were reasonably priced. Good to find a pub of this standard in such an out of the way place.

Spent two nights here early June to celebrate special birthday with family and great friends, made even more special by the excellent staff and food we enjoyed. Nothing was too much trouble , 22 of us sat down to eat on Saturday night and everything was brought out in short space of time and really enjoyed by everybody. First class... More
