Detailed Reviews
I loved staying at the Poonsiri Resort, we stayed for 5 nights, it was so relaxing and tranquil, if I was travelling aloneit would definitely be suitable for a solo traveller. Early morning sat out on the veranda watching the monkeys on the roofs of the villa, the massive monitor lizard walking across the island, amazing. You can buy fish food from reception and feed the fish in the lagoon.
Breakfast was good, missed not having bacon.
Only had one evening meal here and it was ok
Staff were fabulous, very helpful and cheerful
The drivers will take you to the 7/11 anytime throughout the day, take and pick up your laundry. Such a friendly bunch of drivers/ porters
They took us to a lovely thai restaurant where the food was amazing, we ate there 4 out off 5 nights as it was reasonably priced too.
Highly recommend Poonsiri River Resort and would return again and again!

Poonsiri Resort is the ideal place for a relaxing get-away but is close enough to the vibrant Ao Nang beach so you can get the best of both worlds. The hotel provides a regular free shuttle service into Ao Nang which is very convenient.
Nestled around a small lake the rooms are spacious and comfortable. We did it find too much of an issue with mosquitoes but insect repellent is a must.
The residents monkeys are very entertaining if naughty, we watched them one morning taking towels off a clothesline and dropping them into the lake!
Our room came with a daily breakfast buffet which provided a range of options with changes every day. We also ate in the restaurant a few times for lunch and dinner and the food was excellent at every meal.
The staff were super friendly and always happy to help. It was my birthday during our stay and they even arranged a birthday cake at breakfast.
Would throughly recommend.

Stayed for 5 days and without any doubt, its One of the best resort in Ao Nang. Beautiful room with beautiful relaxing scenery of the cliff. All the staff are friendly, helpful and professional. Even though the bike rental and hotel airport service is way more expensive than the normal charge, but to avoid any hassle, i just take their service. The hotel staff will settle everything for u without u doing anything. The breakfast is good as there is Verity of food choices. From Local dish to English breakfast. Thumbs up to the team! Definitely will recommend anyone here! Ps; for those of you who cant take the mosquito bites and afraid of monkeys, this is not ur type of holidays. This is definitely for nature lovers..

Poonsiri Resort wrongfully calls the room type a “traditional villa”, which is essentially a suffocating caravan with poor layout, newly built with no facilities like a phone to call the reception or a proper wardrobe. It is so tiny that you can barely walk around the room. The bathroom had no place to hang the towels and all the water spilled into the entire bathroom while taking a shower. It is poorly built, tiny and is the worst accommodation type. Poonsiri Resort is misleading customers by charging an obnoxious amount calling it a “villa”. Left the resort feeling cheated!

We loved the hotel itself, set in beautiful area with a lovely view. The lunch was nice and drinks prices were reasonable.
The “free” transfer is very limited and you generally have to pay 200 bhat for a transfer if not at the limited times.
The breakfast was terrible. Bland, cold and absolutely zero service.
On the last day, we were leaving at 7.20 and wanted a quick glass of juice. We had paid for breakfast. They would not allow us to have a glass of juice (which was all laid out and ready) as they said that it didn’t start until 7.30. Very rude!
We asked for a taxi to the airport. After some confusion, it turned out that they did not book it.
They organised a trip for us to phi phi which was also a disaster.
There are monkeys everywhere which is lovely but also mosquitoes everywhere.
They do provide toilet tissue in the communal toilet areas which is odd!

We loved our stay for a week in May 2024. The staff couldn’t be more helpful, and always happy help in any way they could, with a special mention to Nana and Smile who were great. The free shuttle bus to and from Ao Nang 5 times a day are really useful. Prices are very reasonable. I noticed the monkeys get lots of mentions but if you just don’t leave anything on your balcony and don’t feed them you’ll be fine.

Great if your not scared of monkeys!
When I first read that there were monkeys about I never realised they were all over the resort! Sneaking into the restaurant area, nicking your things of your balcony! It seems like a nice idea a few monkeys about until your there and you realise how vicious they are. I would have loved to sit on the balcony and read a book but you notice no one is able to sit on the balcony’s because the monkeys come & bully you. I really do believe the staff should have a deterrent (not to harm them) just to shoo them away.
Breakfast is decent and the town they take you too has loads of shopping places and boats too different islands.
We ate here in the evening and the food was amazing. We was in a room further from the restaurant which was not very pleasant walking back too in the dark with monkeys that jump out on you and swing in treee above you. Not to mention when one comes, at least 4/5 others come along shortly after, surrounding you. Although Looking back on videos they are very funny. Screaming and running for monkeys

We (couple in our early 30s) picked this hotel due to the stunning pictures and it more than delivered.
It better in real life than the photos, even when it rained out whole first day there. We spent hours watching the monkeys play, feeding the fish, spotting monitor lizards in the pond. We actually felt disappointed going into Ao Nang because it meant leaving such beautiful scenery behind.
It is a bit out of the way but I suggest you download the Grab app for some reasonable priced taxis.
The food, cocktails and staff were also fantastic!

+1
Honestly one of the nicest and best hotels that we stayed in. The staff were so helpful and welcoming. There is a free shuttle bus every few hours to Ao Nang which takes about 5/10 mins.
The room itself was so clean and spacious, air conditioning was brilliant.
All the facilities here were perfect, free canoeing around the lake, bikes to ride around the vicinity and the monkeys on a morning were lovely to wake up to.
Breakfast had a lot of options and fresh eggs made to order.
Great location with stunning views. Not overcrowd as there is a large pool and plenty of sun beds.
Would highly recommend!!

Hello, anywhere is not safe for kids without a supervision..
My personal advise always keep an eye on your children.
The hotel is good and quiet for relaxation.
Have a good holidays
Yes all the rooms have balcony overlooking the lagoon
Absolutely. Because of it's location and the lagoon feel it can feel very romantic as well as secluded. I would absolutely recommend for a honeymoon.
There re various options - ferry, speed boat etc. they can pick you from the hotel as well.. Very convenient and cheap also
