Aonang Villa Resort is often celebrated for its prime location near the beach and local attractions, offering scenic views and convenience. While many guests commend the cleanliness and size of the rooms, some feel the decor is dated, and there are occasional maintenance issues. The friendly staff and vibrant atmosphere, complete with live music, are highlighted positively, yet some travelers find the hotel's value doesn't match the high price, noting inconsistencies in service and upkeep, particularly around the pools and balconies.

The location of the Ao Nang Villa hotel was just perfect. The hotel has two entrances, one to the beachfront, the other onto the main strip in Ao Nang. The local shops, bars, restaurants, longboats and taxis were all less than 200 metres away, so although you were very central, the hotel always felt nice and quiet.
The staff were all so friendly and helpful, everyone always had a smile to offer, whatever our request. Our rooms were cleaned daily to a high standard with fresh towels, complimentary water, and tea and coffee in the room. There was a fridge, large screen tv, safe and powerful air conditioning that provided a welcome relief from the heat.
We originally booked a garden view room but were fortunate enough to be upgraded to a pool view, with the spectacular Krabi landscape as a dramatic backdrop view from our second-floor balcony.
The inclusive buffet style breakfast was generous with a varied fresh menu served daily, including an omelette station, fresh fruit, salads, cereals, pastries and a selection of local dishes, with rice, noodles etc all on offer, which were topped up throughout the service. Evening meals from the restaurants included a selection of local dishes, along with a separate western menu of Pizza's, Club sandwiches, burgers etc which all hit the spot when you fancied something less adventurous.
Despite its modest official star rating, every area of the hotel was always clean and well maintained. Although it lacked the 5-star trimmings, such as luxurious décor and high quality furnishings, this was reflected in the price. The hotel had a very relaxed vibe throughout our stay, meaning we did not feel the need to get ‘dressed up’ for breakfast and dinner every day, something which you might feel obliged to do at a five-star resort.
Most of your time in Ao Nang will be spent outside your hotel room, either in the pool area, on Ao Nang beach, which was a 30 second walk from the hotel, or exploring the immediate area and the local island trips via the local longboats. This is one of the main selling points of this hotel in that everything you need is right on your doorstep.
We spent 14 days in Ao Nang so had time to explore and look at some of the other hotels in the area, if we ever visited again, I would still choose the Ao Nang Villa hotel over all the others.
I would certainly recommend this hotel if you’re considering a stay in Ao Nang, you won’t be disappointed.

AO Nang Villas could be such a lot more but sadly lacks in several areas all of which are easily rectified.
The pool area is beautiful.
The location is exceptional.
The rooms or at least the room I had (a pool view pool access) was very well decorated, large and everything worked well, air con to water pressure, lovely big shower, tv , hair dryer and spacious, though if I am being critical it lacked any drawers, but that did not detract from the overall satisfaction of the room.
The hotel has lovely grounds overlooking the beach, sea and islands off shore. It looks fantastic.
A great bar by the beach that serves some good cocktails 🍸, and is very popular with passers by as well as hotel guests.

The overall set up of the hotel is great but it's maintenance is a different matter, shoddy looking worn out rusty chairs in the breakfast restraunt, rubbish under the balconies of the pool rooms is not a great look !

Lots of things that need just CLEANING, and a coat of paint on some of the dishevelled areas .
Maybe even cleaning your balcony once in the entire stay instead of leaving it covered in leaves and dust !!!

The hotel could be so much more but lacks the staff the enthusiasm and the drive to do it.
The White Elephant restaurant is not open.
The pool swim up bar is not open.
The gym is locked with the shutters down and has been all week.
(There are 3 restaurants but only one poolside menu serving bar and pool snacks for the day and night.
3 restaurants one snack menu !
These specifics are not very well highlighted but something that contributed to me choosing this hotel.
The main restaurant for breakfast is set in the garden, overlooking the sea and is a lovely place to sit and eat but the food to me was under par, there are no knives forks or anything set on the tables as you walk into the restaurant, you have to find everything yourself, this is a restaurant !!!! not a McDonald's on the high street, the standards need to be higher, this hotel is the most expensive central hotel in the TUI brochure and should be reflective of the price it charges.
I really do think this hotel has staffing issues, the tables in any restaurant should be set with a minimum of table mats, cups knives, forks and napkins.
There was lots of choice for food but not great quality, the egg station was undermanned, too small, messy, the area behind it looked dirty, the staff were overwhelmed most of the time with too many customers for them to cope with.
The small restraunt at the front of the hotel, under several arches looks fantastic, from a distance. When you get there you realise the seating is stained and marked with fat and food and generally needs a good wash. The floor has grease and dirty food marks and generally needs, yet again, a good wash ! There's a theme arising here ! Clean the hotel !!!! Get more staff, this is not a cheap hotel to book and should have the standards that reflect the price you pay ! It could be 4☆ plus !

Aonang Villa Resort has a central location that can be ideal for travelers who want to be close to restaurants, shops and the lively center. Many places are within easy walking distance. However, the hotel is not recommended for those seeking peace and relaxation.

Between the hotel and the beach runs a narrow street, which was supposed to be a pedestrian path. However, this is heavily trafficked with cars, motorcycles and trucks, which leads to considerable noise. In addition, the beach is public, and the hotel does not provide sunbeds on the beach side. To get into the sea, you have to cross the road.

The equipment was basically very run-down. One of the showers by the pool did not work. The seat cushions at the pool were very dirty, the pool loungers partially damaged as well. The bar staff also left a lot to be desired, as rarely anyone asked for orders.

As for the condition of the hotel, many areas are in urgent need of renovation. The taps are dripping and corroded, the bathtub is very old which is also impractical for elderly or physically impaired people. Almost every silicone seal is either very dirty or has mold formation. The bathtub has a very old shower curtain which on the one hand is not tight and on the other hand also has dirt.
The furniture is severely affected by the humidity. The fridge and air conditioning are outdated and extremely noisy. It was not possible for us to sleep with the air conditioning on. This led to extreme temperatures in the room after a few hours.
In addition, the air conditioning could not be regulated, which cooled the room to unpleasantly low temperatures. The following bathroom details were also disappointing: The shampoo and shower gel dispensers were old and worn, and no hand soap was provided. The balcony was very small, and equipped with old white plastic furniture, which further impaired the overall impression of the room.

Another major drawback was the outdated locking system of the doors. To close the doors, you have to slam them shut with considerable force. This led to loud bangs from doors being heard constantly from around 6 a.m., which also disturbed sleep and additionally impaired the already low rest.

The price is clearly too high and outrageous for the quality of facilities and services offered.

The only positive aspects of my stay: The bed was comfortable, with a firm mattress that is ideal for lovers of harder beds, and also the pillows were comfortable. Breakfast was solid and met some European standards.

Conclusion: This hotel could only be an option if you have no problems with noise and a central location is preferred and is willing to pay a lot of money for this location. Otherwise, there is no mention of luxury, recreation and quality.

We enjoyed our week’s stay at this hotel with all the facilities of 2 pools, gym, library, bars and restaurants. Our initial deluxe room facing the sea was close to the beach bar with loud music at night but after complaining we were upgraded to a Grand Superior room set further back facing the garden and sea. I would really recommend this area in Building 2 as the rooms have been refurbished with walk-in shower and more storage.
The staff are all friendly and smiling always welcoming to guests.
There are many local restaurants enticing you in but we liked Ali Baba for Indian and Thai food and CRU and Coffee Club for breakfast or lunch.
You will need cash and many places will charge a 3% supplement for credit cards but there are many exchange places to get local currency.
If you’re into replica sports shirts, you’ll find them here in Ao Nang. We went to the Night Market a few times where there are lots of food stalls and some souvenirs with a stage for live music and dancing. A Tuk Tuk for 150 Bhat will take you on hairy ride to the market.

Recently stayed for five nights and were upgraded rooms on arrival to Deluxe Garden with nice views of tropical gardens including two large Asian water monitor lizards.

The room was spacious with comfortable large double bed, clean bathroom and pleasant balcony seating area.

It was rainy season so we expected rain but a few days it rained most of the day which scuppered our travel plans to visit nearby islands.

Large expansive hotel with two fantastic swimming pools with one having magnificent views of the limestone cliffs.Reception and breakfast staff all friendly and accommodating especially the young man on the egg station.

Great location overlooking Ao Nang beach and minutes from the main rain road in Ao Nang with plenty of coffee shops, restaurants and 7/11’s.

Ao Nang is in Krabi Southern Thailand with a more laid back Muslim oriented feel. Also very popular with Indian holiday makers & Malaysian day trippers.

Ideal base for trips to islands local and further afield.Overall a pleasant stay.

We recently stayed at Aonang Villa Resort, and while the location is good and close to the beach, there were several aspects of the stay that left me underwhelmed.

The rooms are very dated and would benefit from significant updates. The bed was very firm, which might not be comfortable for everyone - I joked with my friends that if you threw an egg on the bed it’ll crack, and the linen had noticeable stains and even a few holes and tears. Photos attached are only few I took as I was really disgusted to find so many holes and stains. The bathroom had a persistent sewage smell, and the stained bathtub added to the impression that the property could use better upkeep. The plumbing system seemed old and in need of maintenance, which might explain some of these issues. And this was already the second room we requested to change to. The first room was absolutely awful. They gave us a room next to a room currently under constructive. The dampness and smell were unbearable. Wet towels left everywhere on the floor and construction tool seen left randomly on the floor in the room under construction.

The resort as a whole felt like it needed a lot more attention to maintenance and care. For instance, the door lock in our room ran out of battery, causing a minor inconvenience. Although the issue was eventually resolved, a more prompt and apologetic response from the staff would have been appreciated.

Breakfast was mediocre, with a limited selection of food and drinks. For a resort of this size and potential, the options felt lackluster.

We also had drinks at the La Medusa restaurant on the first night. Cocktails came in half-filled glasses. When we’re trying to send the drinks back, the staff said it is the standard size they serve.

While the location is good, the overall experience at Aonang Villa Resort didn’t meet expectations. Particularly with the price we paid. In Phuket, we can very well stay in a Marriott property with what we’d paid. With better maintenance, service, and updates, this property could be much better. However, as it stands, I wouldn’t choose to return.

This resort's location is incredible. It's right on the beach front with walking distance to the town & other resorts along the promenade. Based on this alone, I would highly recommend the resort.

We booked two sea facing rooms, and we tried to book two rooms next to each other, but we didnt get this request fulfilled, which was a bit disappointing. These rooms are outdated. The bathrooms are desperate for a revamp. The beds are very firm, which I dont mind, but other guests would battle with these beds. The balcony is tiny, you can get two people on it but that's about it. It is awesome to see the sea & the promenade, overlooking the pool & pool bar area though.

If you dont mind not seeing the sea, I would recommend rather booking into the newer building that over-looks the new pool, which is stunning. We were considering changing to the newer rooms, but decided to rather stay where we were and just enjoy our time in Ao Nang instead.

We were staying at the resort at the beginning of June, so it was quiet and not a lot of other guests in the resort. This was awesome, as it was peaceful, the pool areas were quiet and not over crowded with sun loungers freely available all the time. This resort's ocean front beach bar is fantastic. We loved spending our afternoons here watching the sun go down, the ocean in front of us, the waits staff attentively bringing us cocktails & Chang to enjoy. Staying comfortable once the sun has gone down you're treated to an incredible fire show right in front of the beach bar. Definitely worth the experience.

The swim up bar was a fun place to cool off after spending the day around Ao Nang town or heading out to the islands on a long tail boat.

The ladies offering massages at the pool are lovely. A special thank you to the lady that assisted us at the tourist information desk to book our island tours, her recommendations were great, and the booking process was hassle free. Most traveller say to rather go to the tourist booking centre in town, but I found that the prices were the same no matter where you went, and all offered the same packages, really.

The breakfast at the hotel was not the greatest, but a fair selection of items to choose from. No bacon (or other pork products), if you're wanting an English breakfast (oddly there is bacon on their burgers (the Baconator burger is good!) & dinner menu). We opted to rather have breakfast at other venues around Ao Nang instead. However, the dinners that we had at the hotel were lovely.

Ao Nang as a whole, has to be one of my favourite places to visit in Thailand. It's well maintained, lovely hotels, a great location to visit the islands from by long tail boat (recommended). Now that I've visited Ao Nang, I would skip Phuket (which has become an over-busy, noisy, traffic logged island) on my next visit and rather go straight to Ao Nang.

I would also definitely recommend Aonang Villa Resort, we had a great stay at the resort despite the rooms being a bit outdated.

My wife and I stayed for 5 nights in Mid August, and was glad to leave in the end.

Firstly, the positives.

Location- Great location in the middle of everything and right on the beach.

Gardens- Lovely setting and very peaceful.

Staff- The staff were all friendly and helpful, we couldn't fault them.

The Negatives.

Rooms- The rooms felt old and tired, they are in need of a good make over.

The Bed- While comfortable, the bed is a mattress on a solid wood base, which unfortunately sticks out about 10 centimeters, perfect for destroying your shins on.

The shower- Water pressure is practically non-existent. You almost have to run around in the shower to get wet. I was tempted to take soap and shampoo down to the pool for a decent wash.

The pool- If you swam in the morning or early afternoon the water in the pool was warm, after lunch it was practically hot. My wife commented that she was sweating just standing in the pool, not relaxing at all.

Noise- After our second night we were advised that there was to be a convention held at the hotel for the next 2 nights and that there could be some noise up until 10pm. At 10.15pm the next night when the band was about 30 metres from our room and still screaming into their microphones, I had had enough and rang reception to complain.
The next day I spoke to the hotel manager and let her know I was not happy about the situation. She initially said that that the hotel had informed us of the potential noise the day before.
To the managers credit, she did move us to another room, which was further away from the noise and an upgrade in room type. However, the hotel wanted me to sign a form stating that by them moving us & upgrading our room, I would not post any negative reviews online about the hotel. I crossed this out on the form before I signed.

Overall- We found the hotel overpriced and underwhelming. We would not stay there again.

Full day of travelling from Manchester via Dubai we arrived late evening. Check in we was warmly met and given a refreshing cold drink. Luggage was then taken upstairs by the bell boy.
On entering the room we was pleasantly surprised and on walking onto the balcony, we was overlooking the pool and the magnificent lime stone cliff which was set off by the moon which was just rising behind it. As it was late, we helped ourselves to the beer in the fridge and sat on the balcony until just after midnight.

The beds was so comfortable and the aircon was just at the right temperature so not icy cold.

In the morning we woke up nice and early, walked onto the balcony and again admired the huge lime stone cliff that was facing us.

We went down to breakfast and there was a huge choice from Thai curries, eggs, omelettes that was freshly made, fruit, cereals and yogurts to different breads and bagels.

The hotel has a bar and restaurant that overlooks the beach and a fire show every night, but you got to be early to get a seat as it does get busy.

Food from the restaurant is cooked perfectly too from pizzas, burgers, sandwiches to fish.

2 Pools not salt water around the hotel, plenty of sun loungers and in the sun all day and rooms cleaned everyday. Towels included in the room with complimentary water. Room has kettle, hairdryer and an iron.

7 nights in Ao Nang was made exceptionally good because of the location of the hotel, on the beach, near to all the night life and restaurants, near to where you get the long tailed boats, near to the monkey trail and you can even book trips from the hotel which wasn't much different from the vendors outside.

Would I stay here again? Absolutely and have already booked for 2025.

Just like to thank all the staff at the Ao Nang Villa resort especially to the security guards when they salute us and took the time out to speak to us, they loved the interaction with us Brits.

Everything was just perfect.

We'll be sure to pass on your thanks to our staff, especially the security guards, for their exceptional service and warm interactions. We stayed in a room with the view towards the interior pool. The second one is closer to the beach. In fact very quiet place, big room with huge balcony. Sun beds and umbrellas at the pool, pool bar as well. You can rent big sun beds under trees when you go towards monkey trial. Very comfortable. The price was about 600 baht per day.

Can you book trips from hotel to elephant sanctuary and other tours

Yes, they have a really good bookings desk, however if you find they don't have what you are looking for head to the beachfront, there are a few booking huts that cover the whole area, between them you'll be sorted. YOu can also book most tours online and mnay offer pickups. Highly recommend the elephant sanctuary
