Detailed Reviews
We had a nice stay with our 5 yo son. Quiet place. Rooms could've been more clean. Bed was stone hard! Pool was dirty, but the staff was so friendly that it didn't matter at all. My son especially loved to play with the bird in the reception :) Breakfast was fine, as long as other travellers learn to clean after themselves!

I don't usually go to post reviews but making an exception in this case.
We stayed at this property for 2 nights 3 days apart. The host was kind enough to let us cancel a nights stay since we wanted to stay over at phi phi islands after a boat party'.
Property is clean, spacious and nicely done up.
Complimentary light breakfast and a fully functional kitchen is something we liked about this property.
But most of all it is the attitude and the energy the lady at the reception gives that makes this property a hit.
Located in close proximity to all major restaurant.
There is a cute pizza place right by this property which makes some amazing pizza. Do try them out.

Really great rooms, good location close to the top end of the ‘strip’ of shops and amenities. Added bonus of a swimming pool although we did not use and free tea, coffee toast and drinking water is a great addition. Thank you! Would stay again!

Of 3 good hostels i stayed in Krabi, Glur would be the best . while the other 2 were good and rated highly , Glur has many unique and differentiated attributes . It’s serene, spacious, and feels more homely and relaxed (it’s not a party hostel) . Come here for a retreat near the cliffs , walks, pool / table tennis in the hostel , with a good bed and spacious store.
Glur has work stations , a large social living space, and my favourite - hammocks !
Next to Glur is a great pizza place , and a good cafe / lunch venue.
I like that the place is kept clean, the owners & staff are friendly and helpful.
I stayed at both the private room (great for couples or young families ) as well as dormitory - both are great .
Overall, i see Glur as a place to return for several days of chill in Krabi again

Beautiful little hostel tucked down a quiet street in Ao Nang. This was my favorite hostel of our entire trip. The pool was perfect, staff friendly, and they had fresh fruit out every morning for breakfast. I could not say enough nice things about this place!

I stayed four nights in the twin room with ensuite bathroom from 8-12 August 2015 with a friend.
---------------
LOCATION
---------------
Glur Hostel was easy to get to and from Aonang Beach, where it is not so much a beach to enjoy than a place to get to the other off-shore islands with beautiful beaches.
p/s: The best and cheapest one was Railay Beach by longtail boat (purchase at stand with 'Long Tail Boats' located along the main stretch of road right across Aonang Beach; you can't miss it).
Most days my friend and I would walk down the stretch and get whatever we wanted from the shops. Many items are considerably cheaper (even at the same chain of convenience stores!) closer to Glur than along the beachfront stores! There is a 7-11 along the main road near the alleyway leading to the hostel, but there are plenty of other convenience stores along the main road. Get insect repellent because you will need it!
It is also easy to get to from Krabi Airport. I took the airport bus as I arrived earlier than my friend. The bus costs 150 baht per person so it will make more sense to pay 600 baht for the taxi if you're more than two people. I was confused at first despite reading about how to get the bus prior to arrival at Krabi Airport, so I hope the following will help someone:
1) Buy ticket at the counter with 'Bus Ticket' or similar at Arrivals Hall for Aonang Beach
2) Walk down the directed walkway to the entrance where there will be someone holding onto a clipboard
3) Show them your ticket and tell them Glur Hostel (I showed the lady my booking confirmation with address but she didn't really look at it so I reckon it is a well-known spot).
4) Go to the bus pointed out to you, give/show the bus driver your ticket and then sit down
5) If the bus is not full yet, they will wait for more people. It filled up within 15 minutes for me.
6) Whenever the bus stops, look towards the left for Glur's signpost. Alight when you see it and walk down the alleyway until you see Glur on your right (and majestic cliffs on your left).
p/s: Do try out Boat Noodles Restaurant down the stretch of road from Glur towards Aonang Beach! It was recommended by a staff and it was really good; so good my friend and I went back especially to have the meal again on our last night together.
----------
ROOM
----------
Upon opening the door to the room, I was immediately pleasantly surprised by the cheerful colours. The pictures you see are pretty much what you get for the rooms! I like that there is a closet you can lock your things in, and a small space to hang your clothes! It was really helpful in keeping things organised.
Our room faces the pool and is a short walk from the common space. However, it did not get too noisy (a large group of about 20 people who appeared to have checked in together at the dormitories were quite loud at 9pm or so some nights but piped down quite quickly after; not fault of anyone related to hostel regardless).
The bathroom was ridiculously large and we really enjoyed having this much space on a small budget. There is shampoo and shower gel in the dispensers, and towels are provided! There is also a drying rack that we sometimes bring out to the main room under the air-conditioning (there are drying lines close to the dormitories that we used sometimes for larger items like sarongs).
The air-conditioning is ridiculously strong and a welcome reprise from the outside heat. There was a television but we did not turn it on. Again
When it rained, there was no shelter from the rooms to the common space, but it was a short walk and not a major issue.
------------------------------------
COMMON SPACE & POOL
------------------------------------
Large and airy common space with sufficient seating. Really enjoyed sitting here in the relative quiet in the late evenings with food purchased from street vendors and beer purchased from the convenience stores, especially with the fan to disrupt the flight patterns of all the mosquitoes.
The pool was a bit dirty in the later part of the evening due to the fallen leaves, but there was always an effort to clean it in the mornings. I did soak in it for a bit but wasn't too much in the mood for a swim.
-------------
SERVICE
-------------
I love the hostel environment. There are umbrellas and reed mats which we borrowed for the beach. There are brochures and a thick booklet full of tours to look over at the hostel.
BUT, despite the politeness and helpfulness and being really nice (really, really nice!), service felt a little impersonal. Nothing against the staff, just felt like that little spark was missing.
p/s: We did a Hong Island Tour by speedboat with one of those and it was gorgeous!). The hostel's prices are a bit cheaper than at the booking agencies outside, and we were able to pay immediately and they were able to arrange pick-up at Glur the following day. Ask on your day of arrival what the cut-off timing for booking tours for the following day is. It is 9pm if I did not remember wrongly, so do ask!
-----------------
BREAKFAST
-----------------
Free water, coffee, tea all day. Breakfast was basic but filling to start the day, and I really have no complaints about it. There is a refrigerator to put your food items, but the kitchenette was not really for cooking, so it really is for my fruits and beers. :p
-------------
OVERALL
-------------
The room is bright and cheery and honestly nothing to complain about. The hostel is beautiful and I like the location (not too near but not too far from the busy stretch). I will definitely return should I be back in Krabi soon!

I started out booking 2 nights and couldn't leave, I ended up staying 7. It was a home away from home. The bed, the privacy yet social atmosphere all contributed to the experience. The outdoor kitchen and free fruit rocked and I was so happy to have unlimited tea and coffee. The showers were huge and perfect. I liked the location since it was away from the noisy town. I pretty much ate everyday at the little thai restaurant across the street from the nearby 7/11 which serves amazing food for 40 to 50 baht and noticed the closer you get into AoNang town the more expensive the food gets. The owner and his wife were so accomodating and even helped me arrange my 5 island tour with a pick up from the hostel. Even as I sit here in the infamous Reggae Mansion in Malaysia that is everyone's favorite, I long for my days at Glur. They have the sweetest resident kitty, she had no name so I named her Fuzzy. If they had a pool I would try to move in permanently.

And nobody else was in my room! So be aware! Not impressed! Would of been great apart from that!!

The rooms feel as though they were proportioned for giants, with large beds, ladders and high ceilings. Soft lighting, bamboo, white paint, hammocks, pool and a large communal area makes for a relaxed atmosphere. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The prices are very reasonable considering I've had to sleep in satan's bumhole for much more than they charge here. The only criticisms I'd give, and they're nitpicking really, are that the powdered coffee was developed by the nazis as an alternative to mustard gas, and that some walkways feel as though shards of glass were ingeniously used in their creation. Addendum: There was also an annoyingly charming French guy that stole all the best girls.

Wow....that was my first impression of backhome kl, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and haven't felt this way until I stayed at Glur Hostel in Ao Nang, Krabi. This is place is sparkling new and it has everything. The lockers were huge and you would still have more space for yourself. Bathroom and shower rooms were super clean as well. The only thing I wish glur would offer was a simple breakfast like Backhome. I mean buy a few toasters and some bread would make this place almost amazing. They still offer tea and water. They also provided a fridge as well.
They also had a swimming pool and some spaces for you to hang out. Wow. The person who designed this place must have been a world traveller as he or she seems to know what we need.
Although it's a bit of a walk to the beach, I didn't mind it as I enjoy walking and checking out the stores. I would definitely return here.
