Its our 2nd time in Joali i love the services and the room its really luxury .. the first experience was much better than this to be honest .. the only things that i would suggest to add more staff for the spa and massage spicily in rainy season as we can’t swim i stay 4 night i couldn’t have appointment only 1 time and 1 time facial note that the resort not full.
JOALI is a breath-taking place. It offers some of the most luxurious villas in the world and combines these sublime accommodations with a stunning setting, wonderful food, professional service, a wonderful on-site art collection and a unique approach towards sustainability. We were particularly impressed by the design of the villas: warm, timeless, extremely luxurious, high-tech, very spacious, ... These villas have it all! They feel more like small palaces than hotel rooms, and will make you never want to leave the resort. Food is of very good quality, especially the Japanese-Peruvian restaurant Saoke. One of the best hotels we visited.
We stayed at Joali for a week in July and had another outstanding holiday. I reviewed the hotel on my last trip and most of the positive comments remain true of this trip. The hotel has improved in a number of areas - the addition of Tuhu to the offering is a positive and significantly improves the variety of outlets available. As with our previous trip, Joali's differentiator with other high end offerings in the Maldives is service. Every single member of staffer was outstanding, and in particular went out of their way to ensure that our daughters had a great time. There were numerous examples of them going above and beyond but one which stuck out to me was one of the waitresses at dinner one night saw that our daughter was being pretty active, and so fetched a bucket and spade and some bottled water and started building a sandcastle with her in the restaurant. The kids club is excellent, and Hana and her team are adept at keeping the children entertained. My 3 daughter really enjoyed the arts and crafts activities. Whilst this is undoubtedly an expensive place to stay, we felt that it offered good value and it's worth considering everything that is included - some examples; the hotel doesn't charge for any of the kids activities, massages are included on arrival, the half board allowance allows you to have just about anything you want, champagne is left in the room on arrival, water is not charged for anywhere on site, and so on. All of these differ markedly from other (also great) resorts in the Maldives, and is something we valued.…
Joali for me is the gold standard for customer service for every industry not just hospitality. I am afraid they have ruined it for everyone else now. So anytime I go somewhere and I want to judge the customer service I will compare them to Joali. From the minute you get to Male, the Joali experience starts. Its like they think of everything you need before you even ask. Its almost uncanny and thats the Joali difference. Property is modern and well done, well thats an understatement to be honest, its simply out of this world and I have stayed in pretty amazing places during my travels. Staff is amazing, food great and its just a wholesome amazing experience. Thanks Sameen for an amazing stay, Mio for the laughs and smiles at breakfast and the rest of the staff for the privilege of staying there. If you want to go to Maldives I would suggest not to think about going to any other resort than the Joali. You will thank me later.…
This resort is very awesome, the villa is just magic, very spacious, modern and luxury. Special thanks to Yasir Wasseem our butler during our stay, he is super nice and take care of everythings. People are no nice, food is very good and fresh ! I hope I will come back :)
We spent a week here - we loved biking around the property, enjoying the music, planting coral with the environmental center, diving and eating. The staff took great care of us- we would go back here in a heartbeat. Thanks for everything!
Maldives is the best palce for vacation to begin with. The hotel is beautiful and every villa has an amazing setup. Having your own butler taking care of all your needs for you was awesome. Big Thank You to our amazing butler Alex. The island is stunning with good choice of the restaurants. Beach buffet is another level) There are so many things to do around. You will not have time to get bored. The hotel was magical! We will come back!
The island is beautiful and the service is perfect, we had a water villa which was a Palace where we enjoyed overstaying day and night. Bicycle and buggy for going from one location to another are very convenient. I would say that I could compare this island to Cheval Blanc except that the complementary fruits (No cookies) in the room where not what you can expect at the level of prices that we are paying. The restaurants are just OK, not exceptional. Our butler Riyaz was absolutely perfect. Nevertheless we will not go back to Joali as we could not have a romantic peaceful dinner anywhere ,even at the pool, as the number of kids and babies is extremely high on the island. But of course it could be OK for people who don't care about that.
For what it’s worth to anyone that may be contemplating booking JOALI… I personally NEVER do reviews of resorts I stay at, until now of course, because in this circumstance—it’s so justified. Let me also state, as to place this review into context for anyone reading it, that I have travelled to 36 countries and visited over 400 destinations, staying at many high-end luxury resort property groups during my travels throughout the world, brands like—Aman, Soneva, Six Senses, One&Only, Four Seasons, Mandarin Oriental, Shangri-La, Waldorf Astoria, Conrad, Ritz-Carlton, St. Regis, and other 5-star resorts, yet never have I experienced the attention to minuscule details as I had at JOALI. We visited this haven during the middle and later part of December 2022, and upon arrival to their stunning seaplane jetty we were immediately greeted with a sense of what would continue until we finally departed… “unparalleled service and sublime luxury set within a tropical island oasis”. As to get a good appreciation for their array of accommodations during our stay we got the opportunity to try three different styled villas: 1st: 2 Bedroom Sunset Luxury Overwater Villa (Villa# 70) 2nd: Luxury Beach Villa (Villa# 20 - south side of island, near spa) 3rd: Beach Villa (Villa# 14 - north side of island with much more private beach with powder white sand and turquoise waters for swimming, in fact, our favorite within the beach villa category). Overall… all villas are MASSIVE, yet still feel very cozy, intimate and the sense of total privacy (both inside and outside of each villa). The decor is nothing less than chic, classy, tropical modern, with a clear feminine touch to all architectural and interior design elements—which gives this resort a unique sense of aesthetic completeness without the pompous, grandiose or sterile modern designs found in many other high-end 5-star resort properties. In addition, absolutely nothing looks rundown on this island, which unfortunately (even after a few years) can be evident in many other high-end luxury resorts within the Maldives. But where JOALI really set themselves apart to all other resorts I’ve stayed at, was within all the finer details they provided within their sublime villa spaces for you to enjoy, along with the exceptional service from every member of their entire JOALI team. Regarding these extra details found in each villa, I’m not talking just about basic essentials that should be found in all high-end properties like; cocktail bars, wine fridges, snacks, robes, welcome and bathroom amenities, etc., …but far beyond this like providing electric blenders, actual espresso machines, electric milk frothier (for lattes and cappuccinos), to styling flat irons (which my wife loved). Not least to mention, the bathroom amenities lotions and creams they do provide are beautiful on the skin and the scents… divine to the nose. And robes, not just one, but two per person—one which is fluffy and cozy and the other a sheer light kimono styled robe, perfect for just relaxing in all day at the villa. Not least to mention, bicycles personalized by wooden decorative name tags as to get around the island on. The in-villa details seriously just go on and on within these classy interior spaces, just too many to mention here. Their attention to detail is second to none. Regarding the personal service, absolutely seamless with just the right amount of attentiveness given to their guests. Nothing to little, nothing to intrusive… just the perfect balance of consideration to their guest’s privacy, yet never feeling like you’re without a luxury or service one may be in need of at the drop of a hat. And this flawless service is not just with every restaurant/bar server or villa housekeeping attendant each guest may come in contact with, but every island associate from the top down. From the GM, all management personnel, recreational maintenance—all the way to their invaluable personal butlers… or as JOALI call’s them, “Jadugar”—meaning, magician. And magician’s they are. Even the St. Regis, which is world renowned for their personal butler service for each guest (which we visited after JOALI), couldn’t hold a candle to our personal butler at JOALI… his name, Arif (aka: Ari). Immediately, he consciously and intuitively picked-up on how to service us appropriately, he graciously gave my wife and I exactly what we expected (and beyond) during our entire stay. A professional, yet casual butler in demeanor. In essence, he was extremely personable, relaxed and genuinely made us feel like he truly cared about our space and the time we spent at his island. The perfect balance of gentleman and approachable friend. Exactly what you want in someone that is courteously attending to you over a descent stretch of time on a vacation. Whatever, wherever, and whenever… he provided without missing a beat. Many times, without us even asking for it, he was there offering it or arranging it way before we would even ask. Like I said, seamless unintrusive guests service, simply phenomenal. The other highlights of this island… is basically everything, but what really stood out to us which is personally important to my wife and I, is culinary variety and quality, along with the services available at a resort’s spa facility. On both these, they nailed it. We literally had spa services every second day we were at the island, and the private Overwater Treatment Suites are a must try for anyone who is a spa junkie. And must I insist, if you visit, the Private Island BBQ at dusk was perfection. An unimaginable array of food in an astoundingly romantic setting—with private chef and server…. Impressive to say the least. And if all this isn’t enough, the island is literally stunning. Lush and highly vegetated, with waters having the perfect balance of coral/marine life in some areas, along with plenty of other public areas around the island (and villas) with clear turquoise waters with pure white sandy bottoms right under your feet—perfect for swimming and enjoying the sun. I could go on for way longer about this truly refined, polished, and rare diamond of an island amongst many other “so-called” diamonds in the Maldives, but I think I’ve made my point clear. If you are looking at this resorts TripAdvisor review to help you determine which dizzying array of Maldivian islands you should pull the pin on and choose for a once in a lifetime experience, then do yourself a favor and stop looking. Because this place is it. It’s not cheap, and it shouldn’t be, because what you get in return is a priceless life experience with wonderful people who want to make it truly memorable for you. Yeah, do your research if you want and compare other properties, but I assure you… this is a true exceptional gem of an island amongst other supposed gems. How more people don’t seem to know about this incredible island compared to other major branded (and advertised) resorts in the Maldives, really baffles me. Then again, I hope it stays that way… as it only heightens its incredible appeal and exclusiveness to those who have the eye to appreciate its surreal beauty in its details. My wife and I give our sincere adoration and admiration to every individual who made this hidden treasure of the Maldivian waters what it is. From the owners and designers, to every single instrumental man and woman who work collectively together day in and day out to service JOALI to life. There are many individually named staff members we met who were ever so gracious every time we met them during our daily activities on the island… to you all, we did not forget you, and we both (my wife and I) sincerely thank every single one of you. You are ALL truly the backbone of what makes JOALI… “JOALI”, and you all need to be commended on it. Seriously… job well done! Till next time we visit… wishing you all the best. Chena and Martin.…
We went to Joali for our honeymoon and it was exceptional. From the moment we arrived to the moment we left, it was an unbelievable service experience. Every single member of the staff went the extra mile to make our stay special. We could snorkel directly from our over-sea villa where we saw turtles, eagle ray, nurse shark and millions of tropical fish. We also dived at multiple sites and did a jet ski safari, which were all unbelievable experiences. 5 out of 5 is not a good enough reflection of how good Joali really is.
