Just got back from a 2 night stay, NEVER AGAIN! was greeted by an rather arrogant owner, who handed us a plastic back with room key, menu and instructions, I then said what room is it, , he relpied" I WAS ABOUT TO TELL YOU!" we asked what time the bar closed he said about 9.30 depends if I get tired or not! Not the way to greet customers who were paying £80 a night, We then went up to our room up a very dingy staircase and along a grubby landing. This room was dirty! thick dust as you will see on my photos, there was an extension electric lead from one plug across the floor to a nasty little table where the kettle sat. the milk left in the room was sour and the 2 biscuits left for us to share were soft. above this was a tiny tv on the wall with wires hanging. The window sill had a large pot pig which was covered in dust and the window sill was thick with dust as seen in photos. The old lamps and lamp shade were like something from the 70's. The dated bathroom left a lot to be desired, at the side of the toilet were horrid dirty pipes next to a rusty toilet brush holder, there was a grubby net curtain at the window, around the skirting boards were dirty. NO EXCUSE like al other pubs it had been closed since March I dont think anyone had serviced this room since before the lockdown NOT GOOD ENOUGH Now for the good bits...the bed was clean, and the breakfast was lovely.£160 we paid, I really think we should be given a refund

I had to come to the area because I was visiting my sister in the next town. I was then on my way to visit a very ill family member in Devon. I stayed on 16/3/20 for 2 nights, which was when things started to get very scary with the corona virus spreading. Owners Sarah and Guy were very welcoming and I felt very reassured by their high standards of cleanliness. Someone watched to see what was being touched, they would clean/ sanitise thoroughly after. Of course before this virus came along, that might be thought of as overdoing it, but now we all know it is what needs to be done to prevent this horrific virus spreading! The food was amazing, and I wasn't surprised to learn that Guy has many years experience as a chef in 5 star eateries. Great menu and tasty breakfasts and dinners!! When all this is over I shall return. I highly recommend this unique country pub / Inn!! Before I Ieft for Devon, Sarah and Guy were debating closing. Of course they will be now. I hope the local area is benefitting from their lovely food, and if you cancelled a stay recently, don't forget to rebook when they reopen. Thank you Sarah and Guy, see you again sometime!

I can definitely recommend the Penscott Inn if you are looking for a place to stay whilst exploring the area. Sarah was very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. The breakfasts and evening meals were delicious and the ales were good too. The rooms were pretty basic but had a lovely comfortable bed and good shower which is all you need after a days sightseeing. I can't fault this place, we arrived with friends and were all very happy with the place we had chosen. Sarah also had good knowledge about the local area and we visited a little gem of a place close by which she recommended. Thank you for a lovely stay!!

We went to the Penscot Inn and had a lovely break. Weather not kind but spent two nights in friendly atmosphere, two fabulous breakfast’s and two exceptional evening meals. Clean plates all round. Great hosts, nothing too much to do for us. Room was quiet and a nice size.Clean and comfortable. Couldn’t fault.
