We had an idyllic week at Peyrenegre in July. Lucy and Andrew were very welcoming and our boys loved the daily animal feeding. The pool was fantastic and well used in the heat! The outdoor space was great for long lunches and dinners and sitting outside until the stars appeared. We explored the local area and would recommend the night markets; the countryside is stunning and the roads are so quiet. We would thoroughly recommend Peyrenegre and we hope to return soon.

Set in beautiful rolling countryside, the three gites are thoughtfully furnished and look beautifully rustic with exposed stone walls. Very modern facilities with a fantastic pool and hot tub with a view. There is a sauna and games room, with table tennis outside too. Relaxing watching the night sky with minimal light pollution whilst sitting in the hot tub was a real treat. Lucy and Andrew are everything you could wish for from hosts - charming, knowledgeable, helpful and generous with their home grown veg! Our children really enjoyed getting to know the sheep, lambs, geese, guinea pigs, horses to name a few. We enjoyed several days out at local markets, night markets, Chateau de Bridoire, had a fantastic time kayaking and swimming and hydroplaning at Castlemoron sur Lot, and swimming in the beautiful waters at Lougratte. Equally lovely spending days by the pool! For our first family holiday in France we have been truly spoiled!

This is a great place to stay. We came with our 11 year old son for a week in the summer holidays and we all really enjoyed it. We came away all wanting to go back again. It is a very relaxing holiday in beautiful french countryside. The night skies are amazing due to the lack of light pollution. We really enjoyed the swimming pool which never gets busy as there are only three gites which use the pool. Lucy and Andrew are extremely welcoming and nothing is too much trouble. The gites are very comfortable and there is a home from home feel. We really enjoyed the night markets and trying the delicious locally produced foods and wines. There are lovely walks which take you through hazelnut, plum and walnut trees from the gites.

We just returned from our second visit to Peyrenegre Gites and eagerly look forward to visiting again. It’s truly a little slice of paradise! The setting could not be more quiet or peaceful, yet it’s an easy drive from the train station in Marmande. We picked up our rental car from Europcar across the street from the station. (Side note — if you’re American and used to driving an automatic, be sure to request that when you reserve online.) Although we would have been perfectly content staying on the property swimming in the pool and enjoying the views, we also loved venturing out to various nearby villages and towns. We especially enjoyed the charming “bastide” town of Eymet as well as the castle at Bonaguil. Another highlight was eating dinner at the night market in Laparade. Wherever you go, you’re driving through gentle, rolling hills. Lucy and Andrew are fun and kind hosts. You’re in good hands with them. (Full disclosure: Lucy is my cousin once removed, but she did not ask for a review on here). All in all, one of our favorite vacation spots ever.

We stayed at ' Peyrengegre Gites' in late July 2019 during School summer holiday with our 8 year old daughter. We stayed in the ' Les Noisetiers' Gite. We found our gites to be very well equipped and comfortable. The views are stunning in this quiet location. Our daughter especially enjoyed the large shated swimming pool and daily feeding of the animals on the small holding with Lucy and Andrew ( the owners). We travelled by train - St Pancras - Lille - Bordeaux - Marmande. We left St Pancras at 6:57 am and were in our Gite late afternoon for swim before dinner! The cost of the return train tickets for the three of us was £441 ( half the price of flights during school summer holidYs!). Best to hire car from Bordeaux or Marmande. Recommend visiting:- - Duras ( including Chateau in centre and Maison Guinguet choclate factory on outskirts; - Pâtisserie and central market building at Gontaud de Nogaret before breakfast; - Buzet - de Baise with walk west beside Canal de Garonne - superb restaurant ' Auberge du Goujon qui Fretille'; - Eymet; and - Gensac ( scenic drive up from Duras) - restaurant ' Le Gensake'. Supberb family friendly holiday. Roland & Juliette Close
