Absolutely beautiful hotel in Johannesburg- spacious, well appointed comfortable room. Very interesting layout - staff was extremely service oriented with 2 exceptional employees know as Doctor and his daytime counterpart Patient. We left hotel on 2 occasions and were driven to our destinations and then were picked up at appointee time to be returned to our hotel. Breakfast was very good but evening meals not so much - I would not recommend eating at hotel as there are some good restaurants and a bad one ( see review on Butcher Shop) close by
Unique hotel consisting of several mansions, all nicely decorated with African art. Very picturesque grounds, including a Japanese garden. About 30 min from the airport. Very large rooms, friendly staff. Small pool but the weather in June was too cold for swimming. The same goes for the patio restaurant. Inside restaurant had a fireplace but limited menu (for tour group members).
Super location, nice boutique hotel in a green lush setting in Johannesburg. Extraordinary service and they go the extra mile. Great spa, nice terrace to have your meals and a super nice pool. Stayed here twice and one time we used this hotel for organizing a business venue. Again staff went above and beyond to ensure our guests with a great experience! We’ll done Fairlawns
We stayed over for two nights on our way to visit a couple of safari camps. We stayed in room 16 which had 1 and 1/2 baths with a walk in shower and jacuzzi soaking tub. The room had a dining table, a desk and a couch. The staff was very courteous and the dining room meals were good. The room had a private balcony overlooking the pool and garden areas. We spent time at the spa and Moso gave an incredible massage and the spa grounds were very special with many tucked away private treatment rooms. There are also complimentary areas available to hotel guest who do not seek a spa treatment. This boutique hotel is outside of the city and feels like a secret retreat. We would definitely recommend this resort just 30 min away from the airport for any of your stay over needs.
Beautiful place, lovely garden and Spa, rooms are exquisite. Our welcome wasn't what was expected as the staff member was distracted and presumed we were going to show ourselves to the room. The coffee machine wasn't plugged in and was difficult to do so and pods weren't replenished. Menus need to be changed as food items hadn't been available for months. The food itself was good and portion sizes were ample. The wait staff were very friendly and always smiling, especially Mbali and Tersia. We will return, maybe not in a hurry though.
Professional staff. Spacious rooms a d double bathrooms. Well looked after garden. Beautiful patio breakfast with super friendly staff. Room spacious enough making working from hotel a pleasant experience. Staff go an extra mile and do everything with a smile
I’ve rated the stay here a 2/5 because I really felt that at the hefty price per night charged by the hotel, the service were facilities were below par. My husband and I booked in for the night after what had a hard work week for a spa and overnight stay at their normal prices not specials. The room called a Chateaux Suite (room 34), was not well appointed. The TV did not work at all and when they eventually managed to get it work, there was no audio and then we realised that the room has a compact Dstv package. Which is absolutely shocking for a 5star boutique hotel. I called reception to get someone to come fix the tv and also send a bottle of wine. Wine arrived 30min later, the wrong bottle and the receptionist who took my order was so defensive abt it and hung up the phone on me 😂. Then the aircon didn’t work, was stuck on 30 degrees the whole night. The spa and restaurant in the hotel are world class though. And as usual the food was amazing and my treatments were amazing.…
Wow! Biggest disappointment ever. From start to finish. I have travelled globally extensively and as a person who lives in JHB who was looking for a one night luxury escape I got nothing but excuses and drama and subpar service. The room tv’s have a compact bouquet offering which is subpar even for a hotel which is 3 star. At R4,300 for the night I had high expectations only to be met with below subpar everything except the restaurant
Lovely woodlike setting with beautiful comfortable rooms. Food really was exceptional and the restaurant was very elegant and peaceful. All staff was courteous and very helpful. Would definitely like to visit Fairlawns again.
We came in the week for a night away. The grounds and spa were incredible. Everything was great except there was no hot water and water pressure when we tried to shower. The front desk was informed but there was no apology from a manager the next day or after our stay.
