We stayed here after going to Yala knowing we would go to Galle to explore the Galle Fort afterward. The property was very quiet due to Covid, so we were the only guests at the time and couldn't leave the property. But we were able to keep ourselves busy as the property arranged for us to have massages and private yoga sessions daily - which was wonderful! The jungle provided plenty of entertainment with the noises of the peacocks, other birds, monkeys, and even cows!? We stayed in the KADJU room and enjoyed the private inifinty plunge pool that overlooked the jungle and tea estate where locals worked to pick tea and were very happy to see us (we waved from the pool)! Hotel staff member Ashen provided wonderfu service with a smile and was very friendly. The meals were exceptional as the food was absolutely delicous. We had wonderful food during our entire time in Sri Lanka but Kahanda Kanda stands out with some of our favorite meals. The room was clean, comfortable and stylish with what felt like a British royal/regal feel. The bathroom was huge with a wonderful soaking tub and rainshower. A few minor details were missed but likely due to Covid. During normal times, I'm sure this property exceeds expectations and would receive a Excellent score an Excellent from me.

This hotel is special and not a typical hotel. The room felt very sophisticated with British decor yet the outside has an Asian feel. Our room had a lovely plunge pool with an amazing view of the jungle. I was there during July 2021 so there were very few guests and few options of things to do. We did yoga and got great massages. I am not sure our guest treatment would be the same if we were there in non Covid times... as the hotel seemed very short on staff and we had very little interaction with them. That being said, the main person Ashen planned for our meals every day and was so happy and accommodating. The chef really did make great and delicious food. (Pictures attached) I think our experience might have been different during non-covid times. The room and the plunge pool were really nice and if you are in that area, I would recommend giving this hotel a few nights.

My wife and I have made a life changing move to the lovely Sri Lanka. We have made the move some people may say unwisely during the pandemic. This being said we have travelled as safely as possible and are both luckily fully vaccinated. Kahanda Kanda became our level 1 quarantine destination and from the outset we knew how lucky we were. The precautions taken by the whole team were very Covid secure. We felt like members of the family due to the genuine kindness of the whole team at KK. I would like to mention in particular Thiunuwan and Anura who made us laugh everyday and helped us begin to learn the bits of Sinhala most useful, however the name of the dog leaves a bit to be desired, but I’ll leave that there… Luxury hotel in beautiful surroundings.

I stayed for a week in May, during the pandemic, and even though I never once left the property -- due to the rise in coronavirus cases nowhere was really open to visit -- I never once felt bored or as though I was missing out on anything. Staying in the Hibiscus villa, with its own pool overlooking the surrounding tea plantation, was where I spent the majority of my time, reading, sunning, having a splash around, but mostly just watching the rich nature and wildlife surrounding me. Langur monkeys hooted and swung from the trees, peacocks strutted through the tea bushes, the variety of eye-catching birds seemed infinite, and every afternoon my garden saw mongooses and monitor lizards wander through for a visit. Life passed by quietly -- I even watched a butterfly emerge from its chrysalis one morning -- but it was never boring. Add to that stylish, local-inspired design in the rooms and public areas, menus that changed daily and were full of local, fresh ingredients -- each meal was better than the last, and I highly recommend the Sri Lankan breakfast of hoppers -- and the staff, especially Amila and Aruna, truly helped make me feel at home, both friendly and impeccable when it came to service. I loved spending the early evening with a book and cocktail in the gorgeous Living Room, sometimes watching a thunderstorm pass through, sometimes watching the sunset. Unfortunately, I had to cut my stay a little short due to an announcement that flights were about to be suspended back to my country of residence. The staff helped manage it with ease -- arranging a PCR test to be taken ASAP, gathering the necessary departure paperwork and rescheduling my car back to the airport. They made a stressful situation as easy and hassle-free for me as it possibly could be, to enjoy my final day there as much as I could. If it's a peaceful/laid-back, nature-surrounded and delicious stay you're after, I can't recommend Kahanda Kanda enough.

We were also sorry that your stay was cut short, and happy that we were able to help. Most importantly is that you enjoyed your time with us, and hopefully you will return another time. In the meantime stay safe! With best wishes from all the team at KK,
