The Isle of Coll has one general store, one cafe half the week with a specialist food store, and one hotel. The latter, with such a monopoly, could play the same game as many small island hotels - poor expensive food and lackadaisical service. But not on Coll, an outstanding menu of freshly cooked and locally sourced (where possible) food... More

We visited the Isle of Coll by boat with our Dog, always a challenge to get something to eat when with a dog but The Isle of Coll Hotel were happy to accommodate us for a meal, even though they were really busy (On a Monday night, a good sign). The food was excellent and a great varied menu. The... More

A perfect place in the perfect Isle. The best : Malcom (patient, kind and smiling) and talking about food scallops, lobster and mussels. We actually loved the cheese cake, we are coming back tonight just for another piece of cake. Staff friendly, kind and efficient

Although we stayed in the small double, room 3, at the rear of the hotel, the room was very comfortable and had a pleasant outlook up towards the village kirk. All sorts of "extras" are included in the room and a table is guaranteed for dinner at the hotel for guests. There is an impressive menu to cater for all... More

There is only one hotel on Coll, so the owners don't have a great deal of competition. That hasn't stopped them from running a wonderful family run hotel that I would certainly stay at again. It is set in a nice location, looks good on the outside and has a lovely cosy feeling inside. The rooms are excellent. The bedding... More

Stayed here for 5 nights and explored the beautiful island of Coll. Food at the hotel was excellent and lovely imaginative breakfasts. Although our room was small it had amazing views of the sea and the village. All the staff, but particularly the younger ones were friendly and welcoming. Great to sit in the garden with a drink when sunny, which... More

This little Hotel just sparkled with charm and excellence. As everyone arrives and leaves at the same time it is not always possible to have all the rooms ready - and the Hotel had all this covered. Our room was ready, but guests waiting were offered a nice cup of coffee and the lounge area is very pleasant. Our room... More

We ate here both nights that we stayed on the island and were so impressed both times. The food is of a very high standard - local, fresh and beautifully cooked. We couldn't fault it. I particularly enjoyed the seafood. I agree with others who say how lovely it is to sit outside and have a drink in the garden... More

I dined here ten days ago with 2 friends after two previous visits in recent years. Seafood bisque, roast halibut on a tomato, spinach and parmesan risotto accompanied by Sancerre and red fruit sorbet . Perhaps it tasted extra good after a day in the warm Hebridean sunshine and a beer in the garden with a lovely view of the... More

My husband and I used the Coll Hotel for our pre-wedding meal for our guests. We had visited a few times previously and were always impressed by the high (and consistent) standard of the food. For our pre-wedding meal the usual excellent standard was maintained and exceeded and on several occasions we visited the Coll Hotel on other days around... More
