Las Alamandas is an exclusive resort situated on 2,000 acres within a private estate on the Pacific coast and is a pristine nature reserve. It is Mexico's ultimate escape! This secluded haven, named by many magazines as one of the most romantic hotels of the world, was designed and developed by Isabel Goldsmith-Patino. It offers to its guest's luxury, comfort and the highest standards of personalized hospitality in an exquisite setting. Las Alamandas was featured on the cover of Architectural Digest and was chosen by The Robb Report 100 as one of "Earth's Most Exclusive Retreats". It is not a diamond in the rough, it is an exquisite jewel on the Costalegre. Managed like an elegant private estate where guests feel completely at home. The resort is ideal for a romantic getaway, intimate honeymoons, unique family reunions and spectacular beach weddings. Eight villas luxuriously designed for gracious indoor-outdoor living and beautifully appointed suites offer privacy, comfort and accommodate up to 45 guests. The clients are such as Brad Pitt, Sting and Trudie Styler, Maxwell, and Cindy Crawford. Robert de Niro has taken the entire hotel for the Christmas holidays several times. With a clientele of many celebrity guests and Fortune 500 CEO's, the hotel is often rented out in its entirety for a special event and is a favorite location for fashion shoots. Guests can enjoy gourmet Contemporary Mexican Cuisine featuring a fusion of finest Mexican recipes prepared with fresh and organic ingredients, fresh seafood and produce grown on-property. Meals are served at the "Oasis" restaurant, at the main Beach Club "La Palapa "overlooking the Pacific Ocean, in the privacy of your suite or as a gourmet-picnic on one of the four private beaches. Guests can indulge with spa treatments and massages to the sound of the Pacific. They can enjoy horseback riding at sunset, kayaking on the lagoons, take bicycle tours or hike to Look-out Point or simply sunbathe by the pool or take a siesta gently swaying in one of the many hammocks. More than a luxurious vacation retreat, Las Alamandas is the perfect hideaway

This property is truly an example of mother nature and woman at her finest display of perfection. Service is attentive and yet invisible. Extremely private and secluded villas with gorgeous views that are spiritually moving. Delicious farm fresh menus with ingredients from the property gardens and orchards from chefs who are Michelin level creating memorable food experiences. Take the property tour to fully grasp the magnitude of beauty and commitment.

After a 20 year hiatus, we recently returned to Las Alamandas. I don’t know why we waited so long, but we had a glorious time and plan to go back next year.

The hotel can be reached by a private plane or a two hour car trip from Puerto Vallarta or Mazatlan. We chose the less expensive but longer option and actually enjoyed seeing the beautiful countryside along the famed Costa Allegra. Entering the 2,000 acre property is like disappearing from the world and entering a private paradise. With 18 units and multiple beaches, there is plenty of privacy and room to explore. The hotel itself is stunning, a complex of colorful buildings surrounded by beautifully maintained gardens and overlooking an unspoiled private beach and the deep blue sea. Our spacious one-bedroom villa was filled with local art and craftsmanship, including a large terrace facing the ocean.

The hotel’s beauty is enhanced by the lovely people, their attentive service and the outstanding food. Yubelka, Yojana, Jesus and Maria always made us feel special when we made our reservation, scheduled activities and had questions or special requests. Nazario and Pablo took excellent care of us in the dining areas and with room service. What a treat to enjoy every meal outdoors, listening to the waves and admiring the stars and scenery, while enjoying exquisite meals. Most of the food is produced on the property or locally. We especially enjoyed the fresh fruits and vegetables, the local seafood and the traditional Mexican dishes. The chefs consistently created some of the best resort food we’ve ever enjoyed. The margaritas were delicious, too.

We spent most of our time reading, either on our terrace or in a hammock, and walking on the beach. Twenty years ago, we took our children to Las Alamandas. They spent most of their time on the beach or in the pool, but they also enjoyed riding horses on the beach, fishing, playing tennis, competing with the giant chess set, and climbing on the playground.

If you are looking for a romantic escape or some quality family time in a quiet location where you can unwind in luxury and nature, Las Alamandas will fulfill your dreams. We recommend it most highly!

My 8 yo son and I made a last-minute trip to Careyes in December when our original Napa trip got cancelled during the CA lockdown. Plan B turned out to be so much better than Plan A in this case.

We had been to Careyes in 2018, when we stayed in Cuixmala. I fell in love with this slice of paradise where you barely run into any people. And, during covid, it was the perfect place to escape to.

I had heard of Las Almandas during our 2018 visit since it is owned by another Goldsmith. I’ve also seen it on social media and wanted to try staying here as it looked so beautiful. The hotel is exactly how you see it in photos.

Everyone at the resort was so accommodating and friendly, especially to my son. They were very flexible with plans snd took the time to get to know us and cater to us. The 1st night we were there, we were literally the only guests on the property so we got the full attention of all staff!!

There was a little issue we encountered towards the end of our stay but the staff was extremely quick to resolve it and to make it right. I’ve stayed at many other high-end resorts that charge way more but don’t have the same level of customer service the staff here has. While the resort itself and the rooms aren’t fancy or as upgraded as other places, the whole experience is a true luxury that I prefer (barely any guests to run into, customized/tailored activities and service, private excursions, etc).

Not many people know about this area of Mexico and I hope it stays that way. Would definitely come back to Las Alamandas soon!

We recently returned from our third vacation at Las Alamandas, and it remains a truly special resort.

The hotel can be reached by a private plane or a two and one-half hour car trip from Puerto Vallarta or Mazatlan. We chose the less expensive but longer option and actually enjoyed seeing the beautiful countryside along the famed Costalegre. Entering the 2,000 acre property is like disappearing from the world and entering a private paradise, and we felt very safe. The hotel’s beauty is enhanced by the lovely people, their attentive service and the outstanding food. Yojana and Maria made us feel special when we made our reservation, scheduled activities and had questions or special requests. We enjoyed massages by the beach, working out in the gym and touring a couple of units with the operations manager that we hope to reserve on our next visit. Alma cleaned and cared for our unit with as much care as if it was her own home. She also made beautiful designs with flower petals on our bed each day. Nazario, Pablo and Paco took excellent care of us in the dining areas and with room service. We couldn't get enough of the ceviche and pico de gallo! The talented chef consistently created some of the best resort food we’ve ever enjoyed. The margaritas were delicious, too.

We spent much of our time reading on our terrace, admiring the sunsets and walking on the beach. Twenty-two years ago, we took our children to Las Alamandas. If you are looking for a romantic escape or some quality family time in a quiet location where you can unwind in luxury and nature, Las Alamandas will fulfill your dreams. We continue to recommend it most highly!

My husband and I just got back from a fabulous 10 day stay at Las Alamandas Resort. Located on a 2000 nature reserve, Las Alamandas truly allows you to “get away from it all”. Upon arrival, which we were driven right to our room. The wonderful staff greeted us with a welcome drink, walked us through our room, and explained all the activities available to us.
The next morning, we were taken on a tour of the nature reserve. From private beaches, lagoons, beautiful sea cliff views, it is nothing but spectacular! You are in the jungle, which gave opportunity to see a list of animals in there natural habitat.
The food was excellent. They grow their own fruits and vegetables, right there at the resort. Every morning, I look forward to the fruit plate, so fresh and ripened perfectly. Lunches and dinners you had choices of fresh fish, perfectly prepared steaks, tacos, vegetable dishes, etc. Not on the menu, just ask, they will prepare it for you. I love the fact that nothing was too ‘heavy”, allowing room for their yummy desserts!
For $50. You can reserve a private beach, arrange for a private dinner or watch the sunset from a cliff overlooking the ocean, while your served appetizers and drinks. It was my husband’s birthday, so I arranged the private dinner and also had appetizers and drinks watching the sunset. It was the perfect way to celebrate his special day!
The owner and staff make this property extra special. By chance, the owner was staying at her home, on the resort, when we were there. She was so kind to have dinner with us. It was so interesting to learn how the resort came about and all the different aspects of its creation. She even arranged for a bonfire on the beach for all the guests one night. Which is not a lot of guests, as there are only 18 suites, with a 44 person maximum. She joined us all and made everyone feel welcome!
The staff was always attentive and kind. Since we were there 10 days, we got to know them a bit. One of the waiters was so kind to have his wife make us pens with our names beaded onto them.
If you are looking for a place that is beautiful, quiet, with amazing food with plenty of activities, (or not if you just want to relax), whether it be with family or as a couple, I cannot Las Alamandas enough!

We will be returning!!!

My wife and I just returned from a wonderful vacation at Las Alamandas. The resort is private, restful, interesting and always inviting. The rooms are spacious and interesting. We had a casa right on the beach with a private hot tub that used daily. The waves were loud but ultimately lulled us to sleep. There is no TV and that was a welcome respite from the daily news horrors. We had an "experience" everyday including a tour of the eco-friendly resort; a trip and picnic to bird island, a private picnic at the "twins" beach; a horse back ride along the beach; an a bottle of champagne at sunset at a private table set up overlooking the ocean. The staff were terrific, humble and professional. The serving staff were present without being overwhelming. The grounds keepers were dedicated and performed their work with outstanding skill. The chefs were inspiring. The food offered a terrific breakfast. There was always a vegetarian option for lunch and dinner. Cocktails were delicious and there was a vast number to select. The pool was large with lovely lounging areas and soft, large towels. The owner was engaging and sweet. The only hitch is that you need a COVID test to return to the US. We obtained ours at the airport and it would have been appreciated if the hotel offered us a test before we left. For our future visits here we will bring more family and charter a flight from PV to Las Alamandas since they have a private landing strip on the property. It truly is a wonderful and special place and we will gladly return and return.

We knew this would be remote but we couldn't have predicted the degree of peacefulness and the expanse of beautiful vistas at every space. Las Alamandas is more than a resort... it is an oasis of environmental splendor managed by people who seem genuinely happy to be working in the middle of such a gorgeous environment. Travel here for quietude, for the magic of the ocean, for generosity of care and service, for the privilege of kayaking on the river, of appreciating so many sea birds, of reserving one of the four beaches for your own truly private picnic afternoon (we explored all four beaches and had two incredible picnic days at two of them), of touring the 2,000-acre property of vegetable gardens, orchards, lakes, lagoons, natural cactus-dotted terrain, and more... No matter in which casita you stay, your needs are met in an elevated fashion and you're steps away from chef-created delights at any time. Only reserve your place here if you want a sense of tranquility, of true quiet days and nights (though the noisy ocean waves never sleep!), of a place to read, to walk, to explore, to dine al fresco, to drink, to dream. Thank you to everyone on staff who we met during our December stay. Such wonderful people in such a wonderful treasured spot.

I have traveled all over the world, and I think I officially found my favorite resort. I went with my 11-year-old daughter and she says she wants to move there full time! We loved the fresh meals from the organic garden and the sea. We did 2 days of picnics on different beaches. We boogie boarded, read books, played Yahtzee and body surfed for hours each day on the beaches. We loved the Jeep tour of the property, horseback riding and lounging by the pool. I was thankful that there was only one room with WiFi - forced me to read and chat instead of look at my computer. The owner Isabelle is lovely and you see her love and care for the place in every little detail. My daughter ordered a plate of mango with every meal and we loved the seafood, fresh juices and soups. And I loved the skinny cocktails.

I was a bit worried that we would feel out of place and it would be all couples. But there is so much space that it feels as though you have so much space to yourself. I would recommend it for families, couples and a serene place to go on your own. We had a lovely Ocean View room, but I think there are so many great views from all over the 2,000 acres of playground, that any room would be great.

We can't wait to get back. This isn't the place to go if you want to party hard. But if you want to get away from it all, and fill your days with swimming, eating healthy, bonding with loved ones and truly escaping, then this is your spot!
