This was my fourth happy stay at Las Alamandas and I was enchanted all over again. I traveled with good friends who live near me in the Bay Area. They are old Mexico hands and accustomed to staying much longer than our five-night sojourn. The setting here is magnificent on some three thousand acres, four beaches, a large river, and cliffs over the water. Weather in late May was exquisite. Only 18 units so there never is a crush and, most often, there are no other guests to see. On this trip we saw a lone yoga practitioner and an enthusiastic couple boogie boarding, a couple at dinner in the restaurant. We were delighted to meet and chat with the graceful owner, Isabelle Patino Goldsmith, at dinner one evening. And, lucky since she was heading to London the next day. Checkin is accomplished in the suite, and is swift. There really is no checkout, one simple leaves, regretfully. We had the presidential suite and playa suite in the largest villa. Two hot tubs, private pool, two hammocks, beachfront. Waves building and crashing ashore all the day and night long, aiding best sleep imaginable. This is the only suite with Wi-Fi (although it's glitchy) so it is the only unit I will book. Flowers throughout the suites, twice-daily housekeeping, gargantuan dual-head walk-in showers, enormous tubs, dual sinks, tons of storage place. Enormous, comfortably appointed shaded terraces. All set in beautiful gardens. Service is readily available, prompt, responsive and kind. We were impressed and grateful. We booked a river outing on the house launch on Rio Nicholas. We were picked up and driven to the river, then boated around for over an hour. It was a great excursion, fresh breezes, gorgeous light, many and many different birds but no bugs. Otherwise we did little more than laze around, walk the beach, poke around the property. All guests are given a driving tour of the property which takes a little over an hour and is fascinating. Recommend this outing to all, cost is only $100 U.S. Had a great 90-minute massage. Breakfast was varied and delicious, we ate it on the terrace. Had snacks around 4pm, then dinner around 8pm. Dinners were good but not much variation in menu options. The restaurant is lovely in the evening light as the setting sun paints the skies and hills. Food is the one weakness here. It's good but only that and a venue of this sort at these prices should deliver higher quality and more choices. We asked for, and were given after much cajoling, a dinner of humongous oysters on the half shell and grilled longostas. Wonderful, but we had to work for it since it was never clear whether the seafood could be sourced or not. Given the location, seafood options are mysteriously narrow, usually limited to red snapper and shrimp. This is a very special place on the ocean with four beaches, gardens, flowers, charming Mexican architecture. It is 2.5 hours by car south of the Puerto Vallarta airport. Transportation is best arranged through the property. Do NOT recommend driving yourself. Las Alamandas is some 10 miles or so west of the highway on VERY rough dirt roads. A happy place for me. Will return this year. There is no nightlife here so if that's important, hie thyself elsewhere. What is present in abundance is the tangy sea air, sussuration of waves, birds galore, peace, harmony and glorious relaxation.…
This is a gem of a property, unique in Mexico. We had visited in 2009, and 13yrs later its more beautiful than ever. Amazing service, amazing food, great rooms and 4 desserted beaches for guests. Paradise on earth. The owner, Isabel Goldsmith is there taking care of all details and welcoming all guets - amazing what she has done for Mexico and the Costa Alegre. We celebrated 30yrs of marriage with a beautiful sunset view in ‘El Mirador’ just unique and romantic. Anyone that wants a secluded resort but with 5 star facilities and service should visit, you will love it.
My wife and I just returned from a wonderful vacation at Las Alamandas. The resort is private, restful, interesting and always inviting. The rooms are spacious and interesting. We had a casa right on the beach with a private hot tub that used daily. The waves were loud but ultimately lulled us to sleep. There is no TV and that was a welcome respite from the daily news horrors. We had an "experience" everyday including a tour of the eco-friendly resort; a trip and picnic to bird island, a private picnic at the "twins" beach; a horse back ride along the beach; an a bottle of champagne at sunset at a private table set up overlooking the ocean. The staff were terrific, humble and professional. The serving staff were present without being overwhelming. The grounds keepers were dedicated and performed their work with outstanding skill. The chefs were inspiring. The food offered a terrific breakfast. There was always a vegetarian option for lunch and dinner. Cocktails were delicious and there was a vast number to select. The pool was large with lovely lounging areas and soft, large towels. The owner was engaging and sweet. The only hitch is that you need a COVID test to return to the US. We obtained ours at the airport and it would have been appreciated if the hotel offered us a test before we left. For our future visits here we will bring more family and charter a flight from PV to Las Alamandas since they have a private landing strip on the property. It truly is a wonderful and special place and we will gladly return and return.…
Me and my partner just visited this amazing place, and we really loved it, the traditional Mexican cuisine, the lovely colors that decorate all the spaces, and the incredible staff made our gateway so special, Isabel the owner is so friendly, we can’t wait to go back!
Las Alamandas is such a magical place to visit. The staff are amazing and Isabel the owner makes you feel as though you're a guest at this magnificent estate. With its beautiful beaches and quiet solitude, Las Alamandas is the perfect place to get away from it all and simply enjoy the wonderful atmosphere and tasty food. I can't recommend this resort enough and I'm looking forward to my return visit!
Last Alamandas is SUCH a hidden gem. It’s the most absolutely gorgeous hotel EVER! A lush paradise of bright colors and impeccably maintained landscaping. We loved our visit to Last Alamandas. The rooms are ENORMOUS, each of them are suites, and the value is just incredlble. The hotel is tiny and intimate, and the staff are incredibly friendly and accommodating. The food was ridiculous!!! Each meal was even better than the last, and we still dream about our amazing dining experiences at Las Alamandas. The owner, Isabelle, cares immensely about making every guest’s stay an incredible experience. She even joined us for a breakfast and we so enjoyed learning about the hotel and her story. We had such a beautiful time relaxing and could’ve stayed for even longer. I proposed to my boyfriend at Las alamandas, and now we have the best memories there that will last us a lifetime :)…
Las Alamandas is a truly exceptional boutique resort on the Pacific Coast of Mexico. I took a 4-day solo trip there in April and was blown away by the beauty, tranquility, and majesty of the place. The resort itself is colorful and gorgeous, the rooms are spacious and lovely, the pool overlooking the ocean is truly magnificent, the food at the restaurant is absolutely delicious, and every single staff member was professional, attentive, and so kind. During my stay I was the ONLY guest at the resort, so I had the entire magical place to myself. I mostly relaxed by the pool, but I also enjoyed a jeep tour of the property, had a wonderful massage, went horse-back riding on the beach, and watched the sunset at "Sunset Point". While Las Alamandas is not exactly cheap, it's worth every penny and the experience is truly one-of-a-kind! I highly recommend spending a few nights (or more!) at this wonderful place.…
My husband and I just got back from a fabulous 10 day stay at Las Alamandas Resort. Located on a 2000 nature reserve, Las Alamandas truly allows you to “get away from it all”. Upon arrival, which we were driven right to our room. The wonderful staff greeted us with a welcome drink, walked us through our room, and explained all the activities available to us. The next morning, we were taken on a tour of the nature reserve. From private beaches, lagoons, beautiful sea cliff views, it is nothing but spectacular! You are in the jungle, which gave opportunity to see a list of animals in there natural habitat. The food was excellent. They grow their own fruits and vegetables, right there at the resort. Every morning, I look forward to the fruit plate, so fresh and ripened perfectly. Lunches and dinners you had choices of fresh fish, perfectly prepared steaks, tacos, vegetable dishes, etc. Not on the menu, just ask, they will prepare it for you. I love the fact that nothing was too ‘heavy”, allowing room for their yummy desserts! For $50. You can reserve a private beach, arrange for a private dinner or watch the sunset from a cliff overlooking the ocean, while your served appetizers and drinks. It was my husband’s birthday, so I arranged the private dinner and also had appetizers and drinks watching the sunset. It was the perfect way to celebrate his special day! The owner and staff make this property extra special. By chance, the owner was staying at her home, on the resort, when we were there. She was so kind to have dinner with us. It was so interesting to learn how the resort came about and all the different aspects of its creation. She even arranged for a bonfire on the beach for all the guests one night. Which is not a lot of guests, as there are only 18 suites, with a 44 person maximum. She joined us all and made everyone feel welcome! The staff was always attentive and kind. Since we were there 10 days, we got to know them a bit. One of the waiters was so kind to have his wife make us pens with our names beaded onto them. If you are looking for a place that is beautiful, quiet, with amazing food with plenty of activities, (or not if you just want to relax), whether it be with family or as a couple, I cannot Las Alamandas enough! We will be returning!!!…
Las Alamandas is a wonderfully unique property in it's size and intimacy alone. There was no signing of bills at every meal. The staff knew us by name the first day and what we liked for meals and drinks. Views were breathtaking from the rooms and anywhere on the resort. We will get one of the waterfront casas on our next visit, simply bc it's absolutely worth it. The property was kept immaculate. We stayed a week and were sorry to leave when we did. You can do absolutely nothing or there are plenty of activities if you prefer. You won't be sorry you chose this charming resort.
Arrived on Thursday afternoon, departed Sunday morning. Could not have been happier. Very romantic, service was always present, ambiance is exclusive. The beach is private and expansive. If you want a big, corporate, sleek, new, modern mega resort... this is not it. This is old school Mexico at its best. Very well maintained, peaceful, quiet and simply delightful. This is where you go to hang by the pool, walk the beach, tour the property, try something new and relax. Sitting on the patio, looking at the beach is like having a custom big screen tv to stare at !! The view is magnificent. Sure it costs more, its takes time to get to. I'm glad, that will help keep it as it is.
