This wonderful inn is where I spent my first night in Central America. A wonderful choice! As a single woman traveling alone, I felt very comfortable at Hipcampo De Oro. Mafalda and staff - delightful. The neighborhood is very safe, yet has easy access to public transportation. I returned several times after my first stay.

This little bed and breakfast is off the beaten track, which makes it a delightful place to stay away from the busy city center of San Jose. Señora Mafalda is warm and helpful; her rooms are clean and cozy, and the breakfasts are satisfying. The breakfast room is light and airy, and Mafalda will be glad to call you a... More

The Hipocampo de Oro was recommended to me by the New Learning Center where I attended a course to obtain my TEFL certification. I stayed here for 4 weeks from mid November to mid December 2012. As a single woman traveler this cozy bed and breakfast was absolutely perfect for my needs. Dona Mafalda is a delightful woman and her... More

The Hipocampo de Oro is a cozy Bed and Breakfast in Moravia, Costa Rica. It is run by the owner and she has two assistants that are most helpful and accomodating. You get a wonderful breakfast served as you request it. The rooms are large and very comfortable. I have been going there at least twice a year for over... More

My husband and I, in our 60s, have stayed with Dona Mafalda on various occasions at the Hipocampo de Oro. The B and B is located in a quiet residential neighborhood of Moravia and is the only lodging in all of Moravia. We were fortunate to find it as we have our car serviced regularly in Moravia and have to... More

Our party of 3 included a couple and a senior citizen and we had family make reservations for us because the price quoted was affordable and the location was nearby. Upon arrival, we were surprised with a price increase because the management said the price quoted was only for 2 people, even though the room was set up for 3.... More

The rooms were comfortable and clean. Lots of hot water in the shower. We liked the decor and the peace and quiet at night. Close to San Jose and some... More

it's a private house type of B&B, only three well decorated rooms with private bathroom, hot water, shared kitchen. In a quiet area a little bit out of centro. The owner, Sra Mafalda, a charming lady received us with warm coffee and tea and some cookies, since we arrived at her place around 8:00 PM... We have stayed there for... More
