Dreamy Contentment is beachfront on the South Pacific side of Costa Rica. We are a pristine beach reserved for the world traveler. This beach was rated in top 20 by CNN. We have wildlife, flora and fauna and enough hammocks! Our bungalows have fully stocked kitchens, private verandas and queen beds. Rates start at $90 in the high season. As about our lower priced backpackers room. Pura Vida!
We luckily found this cottage when looking for a couple of nights to stay on the central Pacific Coast. Staying in the lower beachfront cottage we enjoyed the cozy cottage, the wonderful included breakfasts on the beach, the beach access AND the white faced capuchins. Arriving at the cottage on the first day we were greeted with a troop of white faced capuchins coming through the area. It was great. Later that night, the caretaker found a two toed sloth in a nearby tree and came over to show us. Fantastic. The next morning after breakfast on the beach, the troop of capuchins came through again. They were great to watch and experience. And - my wife and I found numerous sand dollars while walking the beach. The folks working there were very friendly and the place was immaculate. Iguanas were also all around. So much fun!…

We chose this area as it fit our budget and was just outside Manuel Antonio. Which surprisingly enough we didn’t even go to because we loved the beach here so much. We stayed in a basic room, if we went again I would level up. It was nice and peaceful and the feel of the place was very cozy. I would have liked to see more attentive staff present during the day. The girl who served breakfast was awesome but after that it was hard to find anyone. I would definitely go back, there are a couple “hidden gem” restaurants nearby too which was a bonus. Oh and the highlight.. about 20 to 25 monkeys came swinging through, playing and eating and basically putting on a show for about half hour for us!

What a wonderful spot to relax and get away from the busy-ness of life in USA! This comfortable property was perfect for my sisters and I and our hubbies! We loved the peaceful sound of the ocean throughout the day and the night. The mornings were beautiful and we enjoyed walking along the shore at low tide and picking up sand dollars, shells and beautifully colored rocks. Carmen (the owner) had arranged horseback riding on the beach for us - the horses were brought right to our private beach. We saw monkeys, sloths, macaws and iguanas. Mario (the manager) made tasty breakfast for us every morning and was always on call for anything we needed. He set up beach chairs, umbrellas and boogie boards each day that we wanted to hang out on the beach. Carmen also arranged a tamale-making class right in the main house there. We were sad when our week ended but we plan to go back!!! Thank you, Carmen and Mario, for a wonderful, relaxing vacation!!!…

Great place to stay. My wife and I spent three nights here and loved it! Secluded Beach right outside your front door, restaurants close enough to walk to, close to many other fun activities. Best part was the service we got from Mario, the manager. He always aimed to please and made sure our breakfast was served beach side - thank you. We’ll be back.

This small resort right on the beach is the perfect place to relax and enjoy. Mario, the manager, took care of our every need---chaise lounges and hammocks beachside, boogie boards, fresh cooked breakfast every morning, advise on things to do and see. Rooms have full kitchens, which allowed us to cook our own food when we didn't want to leave the property. We highly recommend Dreamy Contentment!

We came down for a quick business trip and my wife booked Dreamy Contentment. We were not disappointed. Our host was very pleasant and knowledgeable about the town and local area. Breakfast was served every morning based on our timeline. We took the complimentary bicycles out and toured the town along with the beach, which this property adjoins. There was a dog name Flaschia (not sure if it’s spelled correct) who never left our side and we taught a few tricks. We would strongly recommend anyone looking for their own oasis in a sleepy town to check out Dreamy Contentment.

My friend and I came here after 3 nights in Uvita for Envision festival. Dreamy Contentment truly lives up to the name. Denis the property manager greeted us along with Minnie (adorable pup) and Kennedy his 7 year old daughter. He helped us with our luggage and showed us the beautiful Casita we would be in. Everything was pristine and it is steps from the beach. I was very excited because they have 3 yoga decks on the beach as well as a couple of cruiser bikes to explore the town with. Breakfast is included and was perfect. Eggs, pancakes, fresh fruit, coffee. WiFi is only on the main patio area but it worked out great! That’s where I wanted to hang out anyway. We did the mangrove kayak tour with Alex next door at Rafiki beach club and they let us use the pool for our entire stay which was a major bonus!! Hammocks galore over there as well. Also, sloths and monkeys ! Tons of wildlife I fell in love with Matapalo and I am sure you will too! …

I absolutely loved my stay here. It's the perfect location and the perfect little place to stay. The beautiful lodgings and location encapsulate an amazing tropical paradise. You're right on the beautiful Matapalo beach and you can hear the ocean at night as you fall asleep. Additionally Melissa and Chuck are amazing hosts and did so many little wonderful things, like fresh flowers in the rooms, trip advice, wonderful meals, etc. that made me feel right at home. It's an amazing place to get away from it all and Chuck and Melissa made it the perfect stay with their warmth and friendliness.

This place is the best of Costa Rica. It's right on the beach, and a good beach it is. Very slow drop-off for safety, very wide at low tide, and very little development. If we walked a kilometer south we might encounter 20 people, north probably 5, and this on a weekend. The room we took all three time is is well ventilated, well equipped, and immaculate, as are the grounds. We love the host (Carmen) and staff. Good dining is available within a short drive, and Carmenn serves a great breakfast.
